4. Set goals

A Letter to My Former Self

I have one more SelfRe exercise for you. I want you to write a letter to the person you were before you completed this book—the person you were before you met the goals you set for yourself. Maybe you’ve achieved some things that you didn’t think you could achieve. Maybe you’ve overcome some fears you didn’t think you could overcome.

Give that person some encouragement. Tell them how far they’ve come. Be your own inspiration!

Dear Me,

Now, I’ve got one last job for you to do. Look back at page 20 where you wrote the message in the bottle. I asked you to answer the following question: If you can be whatever you want, Girl—what do you want to be? What do you want to change? Have you fulfilled that wish yet? Do you feel you have more tools and knowledge? If so—congratulations! If not—that’s okay, you can keep working on it, using all the new tools and knowledge you now have to help you reach your dream. Just don’t give up! You have time. You can do it, girl!
