DATA CENTER: Jamie Eckart, Erik Brousseau, Seth Arndorfer, Jesse Heck &Jennifer Guthmiller

Founded in 1996 by North Dakota’s independent telephone companies and cooperatives, Dakota Carrier Network (DCN) offers services to larger, geographically diverse customers that the independent companies could not serve on their own. DCN provides services to commercial entities like banks, hospitals, state government, K-12 schools and higher education institutions. Services include carrier ethernet, cloud services, cybersecurity solutions and internet access.

But there is one critical physical service they provide— data centers. Awareness to keep data safe from hackers continues to increase, but data also must be safe from events like tornadoes, power outages, floods, fires and more. Co-locating with DCN allows businesses to avoid heavy infrastructure investments, provides flexibility and scalability, and provides unmatched security. For anything life throws at you, DCN has you covered.

As a small business, DCN recognizes the importance of supporting their community. As a company, they donate to various local organizations and in a rather unusual way: their Employee Sponsorship Program (ESP) allows each employee to annually choose a charity that is meaningful to them, and DCN donates $250 on the employee’s behalf. So far this year, ESP donations have supported organizations ranging from athletic booster organizations to animal rescues to a regional transplant house.
