CORPORATE EVENT PLANNING: Deidre Hillman, Owner

The 13th Hat aims to create an event you’ll remember as the best one you’ve ever attended. What began as a way to fill a gap in the Bismarck-Mandan area and fill a passion of owner Deidre Hillman, The 13th Hat has grown into a successful, corporate event planning business. Hillman and her team help plan any corporate event, from large conferences and fundraisers to open houses and customer appreciation celebrations.

“Planning a corporate event requires a lot of hats. One must wear a hat for marketing the event, one hat for finding caterers, a venue, creating the guest experience and so on. The 13th Hat will help you define all the hats for your event and wear all or one of them for you. Our number one goal is to prevent our clients from becoming mad hatter-like," Hillman said. "We can wear one or all of the hats and prevent them (the client) from pulling out their hair with a long list of responsibilities. They can show up at the event and enjoy their role as a host, not worrying about all the little details."

When she’s not planning events, Hillman is seizing opportunities to give back to her community. She serves as a board member at the Dakota Zoo, volunteers at Make-A-Wish and the North Dakota Humanities Council and is a founder of the Bismarck Power of 100.
