COSMETOLOGY: Andrea Birst & Samantha Shoults

The Hair Academy is a professional cosmetology school originally established in 2005 by Carol Bosch and Kristin Schmidt which quickly attracted students from across the state. During their ownership, The Hair Academy welcomed and watched more than 900 students graduate.

Bosch and Schmidt both retired in 2021. Bosch's daughter, Sam Shoults, now carries on the ladies' legacy as a new co-owner of the academy with business partner Andrea Birst. Their husbands Colton and Jordin are also a part of the team. The transition in ownership demonstrates the school's commitment to creating an environment that feels like family.

Sam maintains the values her mother established which include creating a warm and welcoming environment for students that leaves a lasting, positive impact on their future careers. Andrea is excited to support those values and, as the owner of a successful local salon, bring real-world experience to the school.

The Hair Academy is the area's only cosmetology school dedicated to creating a positive atmosphere and inclusive culture where students can succeed to their fullest potential. Every graduate of The Hair Academy is North Dakota State Board of Cosmetology license-ready and fully prepared to begin their dream career!
