WELCOME. first heard about the "Faces of" concept in 2016 from a publisher out of Omaha, Nebraska. They had created a magazine that helps promote local businesses by featuring a "Face" of a specific business type (ex: "Face Of Architecture"). This publisher found that the publication was able to connect community members with local Omaha businesses. I love and will always champion the idea of promoting community—that's why we decided to bring this concept to the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community in 2021. After finding that it was a massive success in our area, we expanded the concept to the Sioux Falls and BismarckMandan communities, which also brought overwhelmingly positive reactions. With such positive reactions coming from last year's magazine, we wanted to turn around and do it again! In the 2022 edition of Faces of Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo, you'll find new businesses and faces to support within the community. We hope you enjoy this publication and take the opportunity to get to know some of the people behind this thriving business community. In 11 years, we have been able to create over 400 magazines— all of which are solely based on telling positive community stories! This is another piece to that puzzle and I truly believe you will enjoy reading about your friends and neighbors in the ensuing pages. 6 | FACES OF FARGO-MOORHEAD-WEST FARGO 2022
This publication is considered a "native advertising piece" in the publishing industry. This means that each "Face of" is a sponsored page and paid for by that advertiser. However, this is not a "Best of" publication—it is simply a way for our community to see some of the "Faces" of respective businesses. In turn, we are connecting our readers to businesses they may not even be aware of. By making this a sponsored magazine we were able to produce the publication at a high quality and provide 45,000 printed copies available free to the public. Our sales and editorial teams tried to ensure that we reached out to credible "Faces" of the categories we chose. Our goal is for readers to enjoy learning more about some of the people behind the businesses that make our community thrive. Hopefully, it will create a better sense of community and also encourage more of us to shop local! They strive for excellent customer service where customers aren’t just a number. “We enjoy getting to know our customers and helping them through every stage of their lives,” Engstrom said. “Every borrower has a different story, every house is different and this industry is constantly changing so I have to keep learning, which keeps me on my toes! "The thing that I love the most from a surgical standpoint are dental implants because we can literally reconstruct somebody's smile in a day with very minimal pain and post-op discomfort. ll Matt's Automotive Service Center locations in the Fargo-Moorhead communities are known for providing exceptional customer care and vehicle service that is unmatched in its industry. Owner Matt Lachowitzer founded the company in 2009 and has branched out to five locations in the local community, as well as another five in the Twin Cities. Lachowitzer’s dedication and skill to his craft is no surprise, having received awards and certifications from Ford Motor Company, General Motors, ASE, and he is an ASE Certified Master Technician, named the Ratchet & Wrench All-Star Award winner for 2021. Lachowitzer is named the top shop operator in the country. However, for Lachowitzer, being a successful business goes far beyond auto repair. The team at Matt's Automotive is highly trained in guest experience, relationship building, emotional intelligence and providing an unmatched experience to their customers, rather than just selling to them. It is important to the team at Matt’s to allow each guest to have an individual experience and have full transparency in the care of their vehicle. The team members take the extra time to build long-lasting relationships with their guests, and to educate them on their vehicles.
"We are trying to change what people think when they think of auto repair," he said. Giving back to the Fargo-Moorhead community is one of the company's core values. In the last thirteen years, Matt's Auto has donated over $1.4 million dollars. Lachowitzer, who loves supporting local charities and organizations, said, "I don't want to be remembered for fixing cars, I want to be remembered for what we've done for this community." In 2021, Matt’s donated a total of 5 vehicles to families in need and repaired another 42 free of charge to other families. Matt’s also holds events for teachers and single parents, along with teaching car care classes for women and teenagers. When you support Matt's Automotive Service Center, you're supporting much more than an auto repair business; you're supporting your very own community.

fter working at U Motors for several years, Cale Arneson purchased the family business in 2011. Throughout the years, Arneson and his wife Jill have expanded their powersports and marine product lines, built a second dealership on Pelican Lake and purchased a third in Detroit Lakes. Between the three U Motors locations, they now offer Honda, Yamaha, Can-Am, Ski-Doo, SSR and Kawasaki for on and offroad powersports. Their marine product lines include Sea-Doo, Yamaha Waverunners, Nautique, Supra, Supreme, Avalon Pontoons and recently acquired Centurion Boats. None of this would have been possible without the help of Nate Harms. He started working at U Motors at the age of 14, washing motorcycles and sweeping the shop. Over the years, he worked his way into the sales department and is now the General Manager of all three U Motors locations. They support numerous powersport events annually with sponsorships, individual motocross riders and several non-profit events. They are most proud of the scooter runs they have hosted over the years for charity. This year, they will host Scooters for Tumors on July 17 and 100% of profits will go to Pray for Gray, North Dakota’s only brain tumor nonprofit and the one closest to our hearts. “We are a small family business with big dreams. In the last few years we have grown in ways that we have never thought possible, however, we continue to place the highest priority on our customers and the relationships that we have built along the way. The powersports community grows every day and the opportunity to be immersed in it as our profession is something that we refuse to take for granted,” Arneson said.

The Bridges Apartments
T
he Bridges has an approach to change the standard for apartment housing. After you catch a glimpse inside the progressive concept design of The Bridges, you might just want to re-enroll in college. The student-focused property is attractive to all ages. As a facility with individual leases, a resident only pays for their individual bedroom and bathroom, rather than sharing a cost with other roommates. If any number of roommates were to move out of the unit, they won't feel that burden. This is just one of the many ways that The Bridges is changing the landscape of student (and beyond) housing. Looking for a new location but don't have a roommate? The Bridges accommodates roommate matching, where they have the capability to assign roommates based on a select series of questions with a roommate matching form to get paired up with others based on class schedules, hobbies and school activities. In the chance that it doesn't work out, they're more than willing to relocate to a different room as efficiently as possible.
The complex is all-inclusive, meaning endless amenities, complete with fully furnished units, controlled access, bike storage, garbage, sewer, water, electricity, underground parking, free cable TV and high-speed internet access, a state-of-the-art courtyard, a fitness center and much more, all across the street from the main NDSU campus. With all the amenities it's hard to find what The Bridges isn't doing to offer the ultimate living experience. “At The Bridges, you will see an abundance of study rooms throughout the common areas. The focus of The Bridges is to stay school-oriented and extend the campus life for residents,” Tabor said.

State Farm – Ryan Kill Agency
L
IKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR—STATE FARM IS THERE.
This is not just a slogan or a catch phrase at the Ryan Kill Agency, it is their core value. They have the privilege to be there when customers celebrate some of the best moments in their lives: getting married, purchasing a home or having a child. Even though these are all celebratory events, their greatest responsibility is to be there as a resource when customers may be going through one of the worst moments in their lives such as being in a car accident, having their home go up in flames or losing someone they love unexpectedly. 88 | FACES OF FARGO-MOORHEAD-WEST FARGO 2022
The Ryan Kill Agency’s philosophy is to put the needs of customers over their own in every interaction and to make sure the insurance coverage they have in place would meet their expectations if a claim were to occur. The agency offers a one-of-a-kind “kitchen table” experience for existing and potential new customers that brings everyone back to the place where important life decisions are made (the kitchen table). With their simple motto of “If you always do the right thing, you can never do the wrong thing,” they have helped protect more families than any other State Farm office in the Fargo-

cryotherapy Pam Bradow
Glacial Peak Cryotherapy
G
lacial Peak Cryotherapy was established in 2016 by Pam Bradow, a retired dental hygienist who faced serious injuries following an automobile accident. In the aftermath, Bradow found that cryotherapy, in conjunction with other therapies, helped her mind and body respond for a quicker recovery. From her experience, Bradow knew she wanted to move back to the FM area and help others be proactive about their health and wellness using a different more holistic approach. Cryotherapy isn’t your regular ice pack. Cryotherapy consists of using low temperatures (ranging from -190 to -240 F) to increase blood circulation, speeding up injury recovery, enhancing the immune system, aiding in managing migraine pain, mood, skin conditions and more. A Whole Body session can consist of standing in the cryosauna while your head is exposed, or with a Local session by targeting specific areas of the body. Cryotherapy cools the skin to 30-50 degrees while the muscles stay warm, triggering a variety of health benefits that stem from the two-three minute process, which increases the oxygen and enzymes in the blood and reduces systemic inflammation. At their core, Glacial Peak Cryotherapy serves the community by helping all people from all walks of life benefit from a healthier lifestyle. From assisting an athlete with stamina and quick recovery, to helping a six-year-old with growing pains, to even slowing down the aging process, everyone can benefit from cryotherapy. Glacial Peak Cryotherapy has been serving the community for over five years and was the first cryotherapy center in the state!

osef’s School of Hair, Skin and Body is not your ordinary hair school. Josef’s is bright, timeless and unique in that it utilizes the latest in cosmetology, massage and esthetics. Students not only learn the most modern techniques, but they learn to recognize their strengths, develop relationships and grow their creativity and authenticity. Josef’s focus on legacy is what sets them apart from other schools in North Dakota. When Joseph Olivieri went to beauty school in 1946, he was one of three male students
at Fargo’s New York Hair Design Academy. In 1960, he started his own school with three students. Within a year, he had 100 students. In 1994, he turned the reins of the school over to his son, Mario, an award-winning hairdresser in his own right. Today, Josef’s is a fully accredited and Pulp Riot school, and the longeststanding massage school in the state. Many students enjoy their time at Josef’s because of the hands-on education, public service options and community involvement. Each year, Josef’s supports the Salvation Army by providing over
200 haircuts for veterans and hosting Confidence in Beauty courses for local teenagers.
