Messy Munchkins encourages your little one to emerge and explore the process of making art, with little concentration on the finished piece. Little ones will create art with paint, textured objects, and unconventional materials. They will also discover and play with sand, dirt, water, play dough, and more. This class focuses on fostering creativity and sensory play, and not worrying about cleaning up! Different activities each session. See page 15 for more details.

WINTER 2017/2018 HIGHLIGHTS
WINTER TRY-ATHLON SERIES Great job to all the competitors in this year's Winter Try-Athlon Series! Races were held at Birch Hill, Chena Lake and Tanana Lakes throughout the winter. We had over 30 participants at the final race! See you next winter and don’t forget to check out the summer triathlon held in July!
MUSH FOR KIDS Fairbanks families gathered for the annual Mush for Kids event held at Pioneer Park in early April. This event offers free dog sled rides, a petting pen, a chance to play hockey with the UAF team and more! Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you next year!

3. SECRET TRAIL Skyline Ridge Park Difficulty: MODERATE Get there: From Farmer’s Loop Road, take Summit Drive to Cranberry Ridge, or Skyline Drive to the top of Crestline Drive. Follow Cranberry Ridge uphill to Noel Drive. Public access to the park is at the Skyline Ridge trailhead at the top corner of Noel Drive and M.I.A. Street. Parking is limited. Distance: Approximately 1.5 miles one way. This is a non-motorized trail.

4. EAGLE TRAIL LOOP Tanana Lakes Rec Area Difficulty: EASY
Iceberg Rec Area Difficulty: MODERATE Get there: Parking for this trailhead and the Isberg Recreation Area is located off Oboe Court near the intersection of Isberg and Cripple Creek Roads. Distance: From the parking lot, take the powerline trail about 0.9mi to the east. Check out the trail north of the powerline. Rubber boots recommended! This is a multiple-use trail.
2. MIKE AGBABA BIKE PATH
Get there: Parking for this trail is available near the South Cushman park entrance, at the Picnic Pavilion off Northlake Lane or in the motorized boat launch parking lot. This is a non-motorized trail. Distance: Trail for an approximate 2 mile loop around the lake. This is a non-motorized trail. The Eagle Trail Loop combines Flicker Trail, Sandpiper Trail and Eagle
5. EQUINOX MARATHON TRAIL
Chena Lake Rec Area Difficulty: EASY Get there: From the Chena Lake Rec Area road, turn Left onto the Lake Park Road. Trailhead is located near the East Lake parking lot (the first pullout on your right). Distance: The Mike Agbaba Bike Path can be accessed by taking the 0.9km trail from the parking lot to access the 4.9km loop. Non-motorized from April 1st-October 30th.
Ester Dome Road Difficulty: DIFFICULT Get there: Travel up Ester Dome Road about 1 mile past the St. Patrick’s Road intersection. Parking is on the left at the Happy Valley Singletrack trails. Walk down Ester Dome Road and look for the Equinox sign on the north (left/uphill) side of the road. This is a notoriously tough uphill section of the Equinox Marathon that takes runners around Ester Dome Road to Henderson Road. Distance: Approximately 3 miles roundtrip. This is a non-motorized trail.

Pioneer Park welcomes RV visitors to stay in our parking lot for $12 a night (maximum of 5 consecutive nights). No reservations required. There are no hook-ups available.

BIG DIPPER ICE ARENA The Big Dipper will be closed for maintenance July 8—August 5
Find the latest walking and skating schedule on our website! The Big Dipper Ice Arena is owned and operated by the Fairbanks North Star Borough for the benefit of all its residents and visitors. Once an airplane hangar in Tanacross, the structure was reassembled and repurposed as an ice arena in Fairbanks in 1968. Commonly referred to as "The Dipper," the facility hosts public skating, youth and adult hockey, and is home of the Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League. A walking and jogging track is free to the public during scheduled hours. Most areas of the facility, including the ice, are available for private rentals and special events.

Camping: Chena Lake Recreation area has two campgrounds; one at the Lake Park and one at the River Park. Each campground has two camping loops and a combined total of 80 campsites (some pull through) and potable water and restroom facilities. Our island has an additional 6 tent camping sites, which can only be accessible by non-motorized boat.
