What’s the craziest thing that happened to you while on set? The craziest experience was when we had to ride a dirt bike to the general location, cross a river, hike down a trail then up a rock hill, then back down, cross a small valley then arrive to a hidden beach aka “main location”... Mind you this was all with hair and makeup done so looking photo ready was pretty crazy. What are some things you would like to accomplish? I plan to achieve my bachelor’s degree in by 2018. Upon graduation I would like to help empower women by becoming a role model for underprivileged young girls. I want to help the youth reach their fullest potential through hosting workshops regarding professional development and body image. Through networking, I have been very fortunate to meet many people that have help me advance my career and also provide great advice. Being 22 years old can be very challenging with making decisions; therefore, I will continue to listen to that advice and use it to better myself as a young woman. Being a well-rounded individual is vital to me, which is why I always strive to become better. What scares you the most? My worst fear wouldn’t be for myself, it would be for my family. They are my strength. What quirky or fun talents do you have? I have long toes aka monkey toes and I’m proud of them. I’ve learned to embrace my feet and not hide them. I can pick up things off the floor and pinch people with my toes.

Tips on Modeling Etiquette By: Kari Nautique
Okay models, here’s the low down: photographers are tired of your shit. Yes, you! Gone is the era of the Diva Model, it’s time to step up and change things. As a model, we have to understand that we are a dime-a-dozen in this industry. If we want to be the best, we need to take a few steps to stand out from the rest. Almost every single model in this industry thinks she’s on a path to the biggest, hottest career out there: magazine covers, autograph signings, and a million followers on her social media pages. Everyone starts out small, and that’s okay, but you have to build a reputation as a model who companies and photographers want to work with before you become a hot shot. If no one wants to work with you, how will you ever achieve the career of your dreams? I’ve asked around the industry and here is some of the best advice and tips that agencies and photographers want you to know before you step in front of the camera. First and foremost, drop the attitude. One of the biggest complaints that I’ve come across in this line of work is about models that can’t control their ego. Yes, you’re gorgeous, and people want to work with you, but you aren’t the only model available. There are hundreds of girls in line behind you for that exact same job, and often I have seen companies choose a less attractive model Page

strictly because she was easier to work with. Being humble and expressing appreciation will go a long way to helping you book more jobs, despite how much work you’ve gotten in the past. Second to having a good attitude, you have got to be punctual. Showing up to a job on time shows respect and a level of professionalism that photographers and agencies appreciate. Modeling started as a hobby for a lot of us, but it’s also a job and it’s important to show that you take it seriously. Why would anyone want to work with a model that wasn’t serious about her career? Setting up a shoot and post-processing the photos for publication takes a lot of time and showing respect for that time means that you’ll be at the top of their list to book for future jobs. Another extremely important point is to be prepared. Preparation as a model is everything from hair and makeup to keeping yourself in shape for a photo shoot. If you show up to a shoot and you’ve been relying on Photoshop because you haven’t hit the gym lately, then that’s your fault that you don’t look like your photos. Photographers do not want to work with someone who they have to spend hours editing. When you get hired for a job based on your current portfolio, and you show up not looking like those images, then almost no company will
work with you. The last point that was brought up by a lot of industry professionals is how important it is to have proper communication. Whether it’s during the booking or afterwards for edits and post-processing, photographers and agencies need prompt communication with you. In order to get published, a lot of magazines want you to fill out biographies about yourself or release forms for the issue, and photographers need your help in selecting the photos you want to have edited and submitted for publication. The faster you can get the paperwork and photo selection completed, the faster you’ll see your images featured in the next magazine. Listen, ladies: it’s a lot of extra work behind the scenes. Being a successful model isn’t just showing up and having some pretty photos taken of you. Models have to put in a lot of extra effort if they’re serious about succeeding in this industry. Being a coveted model to work with is a balance between being respectful towards everyone you work with and keeping up with your appearance and paperwork in your spare time. And at the end of a long shoot day, it’s perfectly acceptable to live by the motto: “Work Hard, Play Harder”, just make sure all of your bases are covered first.

Describe your first modeling shoot? I was a young, awkward nervous wreck. Looking back now, I feel so bad for the photographer. He kept telling me to soften my eyes and I had no idea what that meant, so, I just kept making them bigger. Definitely not what he meant. Lol. I looked like a deer in headlights :) I have since learned how to perfect that look. What’s the craziest thing that happened to you while on set? Hmmmm... Awkward. I had no idea what I was doing. The first photographer I worked with was amazing and really helped me with posing and facial expressions. What are some things you would like to accomplish? I am currently getting into acting and I am loving it! Just did a short film and when I was finished watching it, I was like, “Holy Crap! Who was that?” It was so much fun becoming such a different character. I am also starting a lifestyle blog which I am having so fun doing. It is called www.thefoxtalks.com. It will be full of Fashion, Fitness and Foxy Stuff! Check it out. What quirky or fun talents do you have? Well, I can dislocate my shoulders, which is always a fun party trick. What is your sexiest body part? I would have to say my eyes...you know, when I am not looking like scared deer :)

What’s the craziest thing that happened to you while on set? I don’t know about craziest, but this is a funny story. So, I was sitting in hair and makeup for a modeling gig here in town, I didn’t really have many details about the shoot, I didn’t even know who the photographer is, I just showed up where they told me. Well, I am sitting there and in walks the tallest man I have ever seen! I ask the makeup artist who that is and she tells me it’s the photographer, Randy Johnson. I was like okay cool, no idea what that is. We finish the shoot and as I am going home I Google Randy Johnson to check out his work, but all that came up was information on some baseball player named Randy Johnson...I looked closer and realized that it was baseball Hall of Famer in the photos, was the same photographer I just finished shooting with. Lets just say I had a very “oops” moments. It’s definitely a fun story to tell now.

What’s the craziest thing that happened to you while on set? Beans and I were doing a tape project, and I had to stand holding a pose for multiple hours, and locked my knees in the process. I sneezed, and when I did I passed out and fell over. Beans freaked out, scared I was hurt. I woke up when I hit the ground, after figuring out what caused the issue and that I was okay; we review the cameras and had a good laugh. What are some things you would like to accomplish? Being in Maxim Magazine What scares you the most? Snakes What quirky or fun talents do you have? I can make anyone smile and laugh no matter the mood they are in!

Describe your first modeling shoot. Oh my gaaaahh!! I was so nervous. It was actually with one of my favorite photographers Joe Damaso. He is such a talented individual with an amazing eye!! He gives awesome direction and I did NOT want to look like a complete amateur lol. I was stiff and had this deer in the headlight look on my face. But once I got comfortable, I was a natural and we killed it together!

What’s the craziest thing that happened to you while on set? We’ve all shot on the beach I’m sure and of course we get super sandy!! I had sand in places that nobody would want there, so I went into the water to rinse off. Not paying attention to anything swimming around, I came out with a mini fish in my bottoms!! I freaked out and I didn’t think twice about dropping my suit right where i stood. And OF COURSE it was during tourists season, so they definitely had a sight to see!!
