Aber der Plan ist groß. Dir fehlt es im Moment an einem spezifischen künstlerischem Profil, an Kontakten, an Mitteln, an technischem, organisatorischem und ökonomischem Wissen – Notwendigkeiten, die Du für die Umsetzung brauchst.

What is your project?
Vielleicht bist Du spezialisiert auf das Live-Coding von Musik und möchtest den Computer als Performance-Instrument mit einem klassisch-symphonischen Instrumentarium integrieren und mit Freestyle-Rap.
Maybe you‘re focusing on the live coding of music and want to integrate the computer as a performance instrument with classical symphonic orchestration and freestyle rap.
Oder Du hast die Vision, dass eine Elektronik-Band zusammen mit einer Jazz-Bläser-Sektion in einem Club auftritt, und 20 Tänzer tanzen dazu eine einstudierte Choreografie. Vielleicht willst Du auch Filmmusik komponieren und produzieren, und brauchst dafür Zugang sowohl zu anderen Institutionen als auch zu den anderen Musik-, Theater-, Tanz-, Gestaltungs- und Wissenschaftsstudierenden der Folkwang Universität der Künste.
Or you have a vision of an electronic band playing along with a jazz brass section in a club, with 20 dancers dance to a rehearsed choreography. Maybe you also want to compose and produce film music, and need access to people from other institutions as well as to other Folkwang students of music, theatre, dance, design and academic studies.

Was auch immer deine Ideen sind: Am Ende deines viersemestrigen Studiums wirst du nicht nur mehrere Projekte realisiert haben – du wirst auch über ein Netzwerk von PartnernInnen für dauerhafte Kooperationen verfügen. Kontakte und Teamerfahrung mit deinen KommillitonInnen und Lehrenden, Studierenden und Lehrenden aus anderen Folkwang Disziplinen und externen Institutionen und Unternehmen ermöglichen dir den Auf- oder Ausbau einer eigenen künstlerischen Existenz.
Or you want to figure out how to generate and project images from an audience‘s reaction to a performance to give the music a new visual component. Whatever your ideas are: At the end of your four semesters of study you will not only have realized several projects – you‘ll also have a network of partners for long-term cooperation. Contacts and team experience with your fellow students and teachers, scholars and lecturers from the other Folkwang disciplines and from external institutions and companies allow you to set up or consolidate your artistic existence.

Unsere Lehrenden sind KomponistInnen, ProduzentInnen und PerformerInnen mit nationaler und internationaler Anerkennung und Berufserfahrung im Pop. Sie arbeiten eng miteinander und mit den Lehrenden der anderen Fachbereiche der Folkwang Universität zusammen, um so auch anspruchsvollste, multi- und crossmediale Projekte zu ermöglichen.
Our teachers are composers, producers and performers of national and international recognition. With professional experience in pop. They work closely with each other and with the teachers of the other departments of the Folkwang University, so as to enable even the most demanding, multi- and cross-media projects.

Who is studying?
Es gibt acht Studienplätze pro Semester; wenn du einen davon erringen willst, muss du einen Bachelor-Abschluss haben, künstlerische Erfahrung im Bereich der Popmusik nachweisen können und die Eignungsprüfung bestehen. Als Nachweis künstlerischer Erfahrung gelten uns einschlägige Arbeiten, die als Partituren, Tonträger, Videos etc. mit der Bewerbung eingereicht werden. Außerdem benötigen wir einen Entwurf für ein künstlerisches Entwicklungsvorhaben: Den Projektplan für das Master-Projekt, der die Themen der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung während des Masterstudiums und die angestrebten Resultate beschreibt.
There are eight places per semester, and if you want to win one of them, you must have a bachelor‘s degree, demonstrate artistic experience in the field of pop music, and pass the qualifying examination. As proof of artistic experience, we expect you to submit relevant work, such as scores, sound recordings, videos, or other media, with your application. We also require a project plan for your master project, describing the subjects of your artistic exploration during the master‘s program and the intended results.
Anhand der vorgelegten Arbeiten und des Projektplans beurteilen wir die grundsätzliche künstlerische Eignung der BewerberInnen. Die Besten laden wir ein zu einer abschließenden Eignungsprüfung.
On the basis of the submitted works and project plan, we assess the fundamental artistic aptitude of applicants. The best we invite to take the final qualifying examination.
