Don't get fooled while buying food Hello friends! Thank you for coming back to my blog! Just a while ago I was reading an article discussing about the marketing strategy of the processed food makers. American Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael Moss has made an extensive investigation on the largest food giants in America and revealed how they are making us addicted to their stuffs taking advantage of our lifestyle. When I say “largest food giants in America, do not give that loud sigh of relief. The products of these companies, Coca Cola, Kellogg, Nestle to name a few, are very much present in India as well and not only we are aware of it but in fact we make a considerable portion of their consumer base.
To begin with, let me tell you once again, why we hate or rather should hate processed foods so much. The first and foremost reason is simple that they are not fresh. Be very clear that the nutrition received from fresh or freshly prepared food cannot be beaten by any processed and preserved food coming from however big brand maybe. Therefore by consuming them we are only decreasing our nutrient intake. Now, move on to the more serious factors. Processed foods, to be able to reach to the consumer in unrotten state, needs to go through major preservation processes where they are dealt with artificial and chemical preservatives that does a havoc damage to our health. Moreover after all the processes, they food are left with zero nutrition and on top of that are laden with excess salt, sugar, and fat. Now you know, why the generation is wrecked with such huge lifestyle disorders like obesity, diabetes, hypertension and many more.
Moss, in his book “Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us”, has outrightly said that the food giants take the advantage of our busy work schedule and time-crunch to cook fresh food for ourselves. Also the low cost is another hooking point. In his own words, “They got big by making products that are utterly irresistible to people, both in taste, but also ultra-convenient that will sit on the shelf and be waiting for you until you're ready to eat them. And also incredibly low cost.” Now we all know that changing our lifestyle and work schedule is not that easy task. All of a sudden making time for cooking and stuffs doesn't sound so smooth. But what we can definitely change is our food purchasing behavior. Picking up processed food packets from the grocery store shelves and eat them as soon as you enter the house sounds so convenient, isn't it? But hear again. If you reach your home tired and find a freshly prepared, homecooked meal full of nutrition and that divine taste of simple food, isn't that heavenly? Yes, you can get that. There are numbers of tiffin service providers in the country who are working hard with the motto to rectify the food habits of the Indians. Delivering healthy food made of fresh ingredients to your doorstep is what forms the core of their job and earnings. Give them a chance, give your body a chance to feel good, to be good. Instead of loading yourself with sugar, salt and fat, treat yourself with nutritious and healthy meal from the tiffin service providers. Believe me, your body will thank your for this. Stay healthy!
