7 Changing rooms, extra-time of the second leg with a view on the Under 21 Italian Cup Quarter Finals. Modugno is losing 5 - 8 to Marcianise, it all happened in 2 minutes, a blackout. It’s one of those times where you need to show your character, go back on the pitch and change the course of the events.
Back on the pitch, Simone receives the ball, back-hill touch goal. Then more in a breathtaking crescendo, Modugno is fulfilling its destiny.
Simone left home when he was 14 and all he is he learned it the hard way, a life on the road, for the team, only for the team. A bold decision for a a teenager that could have both worlds but decided to give everything to football. And we are not talking just about the game, we are talking about the discipline, the sacrifice, the way of life. Simone is made of this and Modugno is his team, it’s what he believes in and fights for.
Simone again on the ball, this time is a toe-poke through the goalkeeper’s legs, another goal. At the end it’s a merciless 10 to 9 for Modugno’s boys. It’s Quarter Finals.
Simone heard many times that your attitude on the pitch is all that counts. That is not enough for him, the team spirit goes beyond that, it’s about believing in each other as individuals, as friends, sharing a vision of life. And that is probably the secret of Modugno.
Simone’s mind is already moving to the next match, this match is now just a memory and he lives in the future, already seizing the next challenge. Obsessive, restless and very dangerous if you are on the other side of the pitch. Simone Colaianni plays for Modugno C5 Seria A2 Itali FOLLOW MODUGNO C5
So when the coach calls for unity Modugno’s boys know exactly what they need to bring back on the pitch. Sacrifice, belief and will to win. ISSUE 03 MAR 2012

Nivea for Men’s Great Football Experiment began with over 600 teams. Nivea wanted to investigate if expert preparation is a key component to a team’s success. All the videos that Ivory FC published on youtube helped to set them apart from all the other teams.

The winner of the GFE would receive expert coaching from England Legends. Ivory FC entered the competition with an inspiring attitude and an excellent showcase of the team and players. “We are just a group of Essex boys who have reunited to live out our dreams every Sunday morning,” said Ivory FC manager Will Rockett. “We have come so far since the club’s formation. We have been through so much together but we are yet to win anything. We dream of making the Brentwood Sunday League Premier Division and one day lifting a trophy.” Nivea selected Ivory FC as one of the three finalists for the GFE. By displaying the drive and commitment that Nivea was looking for through a series of videos, Ivory FC proved they were capable of being champions and won the Great Football Experiment. These lads from Essex were about to embark on the greatest football adventure of their lives. Over the next six months, Ivory FC trained hard and improved their team bond on and off the field. With the help of top coaches, nutrition advice and brand new Umbro kits, the team was able to hold their own against a Celebrity team in a preseason match. While Ivory lost the game 4-0, it was obvious that the boys’ playing had improved. In the season opener, MITOO FOOTBALL REVOLUTION
Ivory started the match a little shaky, but came back in the end to win the game 2-1. The final test of the GFE was a match against a team of England Legends. The Ivory boys proved they had become a fit, organised team and beat the Legends 2-1. When Kevin Reid formed Ivory FC in 2007, he was just trying to prove his friends wrong by recruiting a team all on his own. The Great Football Experiment launched Ivory FC from a regular Sunday league team to amateur celebrity status. Every game during this season has displayed the excitement of a league cup final. Ivory FC demonstrated that by staying dedicated and working hard, you can take your team beyond the Sunday league games and compete with the best. Reid and Rockett, along with everyone else on the team, have contributed to Ivory FC’s success. Currently, Ivory FC is third in their league and in the semi finals of the league cup. The videos they produce and stories they share are not only a great way to capture team memories, but also a gateway to better their football. Ivory FC has undergone an extraordinary sporting experience.

AFRICA ON THE BALL Africa on the Ball is more than just a football team. It is a revitalising attitude and mentality. Most importantly, it is a belief that football can facilitate improvement and the achievement of goals, not only for individuals and teams, but also in underdeveloped and deprived communities. Africa On Thew Ball operates in Lusaka, the heart of Zambia. Zambia is the eleventh poorest country in the world. About 68% of Zambians live below the recognised national poverty line. Social indicators continue to decline, particularly in measurements of life expectancy at birth and maternal mortality. The country’s rate of economic growth cannot support rapid population growth or the HIV/AIDS-related issues straining the economy. Despite Africa being a continent extremely passionate about football, finding organised leagues and competitive fixtures for many young Africans is difficult. Financial restraints hinder the ability of communities to construct all the necessary details. Beneath all the deprivation and obstacles, a group of boys in Kalingalinga, a compound in Lusaka, posses a sense of hope. They believe that with the right attitude, discipline and leadership, they can improve the community which they were born into. They can make a difference. Andrew Jenkin, co-founder and trustee of Africa on the Ball, believes MITOO FOOTBALL REVOLUTION
the power of sport can assist in the strengthening of communities like Lusaka. “We wanted to use football as a tool to help many of these unfortunate young African children, so we’re funding and supporting teams in communities where we feel we can make a difference,” says Jenkin. “We’re using our teams as a platform for the children to learn about communication, leadership, discipline and the values of life such as working hard.” The Kalingalinga branch of Africa on the Ball is only the first of many proposed, and the signs of community development are already clear. Elena Sarra, fellow trustee of Africa on the Ball says, “Simply being part of the team teaches the boys the importance of leadership, commitment, team work, focus, determination and gives them confidence in their power to achieve their goals on the pitch as well as in life.” Africa on the Ball’s Kalingalinga Under 17s team won promotion from their division in their first full season as a team, an impressive feat for any team in the world. Although results on the pitch are important to the organisation, it is what happens off the pitch in the community that lies at the heart of Africa on the Ball’s
purpose and mission.“Whilst the league is a great chance for our young players to play other local teams and be competitive, the children also learn important things about HIV,” says coach James Banda Africa on the Ball is making plans to grow in the future. “We have started with the boys in Kalingalinga because this is where we had the contacts and support on the ground,” says Elena. “However, our aim is to expand well beyond Lusaka and Zambia to other communities all over Africa. Sport is an incredible tool to break down any barriers linked to race, culture, religion, background, age or gender. We are already looking around for potential girls’ teams to support.” Sports like football speak to youth in a way no other form of discipline can. It is through organisations like Africa on the Ball that we will see a substantial amount of advancement and development toward a brighter future. FOLLOW AFRICA ON THE BALL

FUERZAPURA II BY LOTTO
MITOO FOOTBALL REVOLUTION
home of the football boot experts!
21
Since the World Cup in 1994, an inescapable feature of your average pair of football boots is the concept of ‘more’. More Power. More Swerve. More Accuracy. It seems that you can’t pick up a pair of cleats at a sports shop without some sort of rubberised bell or whistle tacked onto a garishlycoloured design. Thankfully, one place you won’t find any of that is on the new Lotto Fuerzapura II L100. Translated from Lotto’s native Italian, ‘Fuerzapura’ means ‘Pure Force’, and there is indeed a marvellous level of purity to these pieces of footwear. Released for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the original Fuerzapura suffered something of an identity crisis. Available in both a Leather and Synthetic model and packing an adidas Predator-esque shooting element around the laces, the Fuerzapura Mark I was a mish-mash of ideas that didn’t quite come off. For Round Two, however, Lotto have crafted a boot for the player who wants that old-school feel from their boots, whilst still packing in the features needed to compete at the
high tempo of the modern game. Available only in the supple K-Leather that has defined Lotto boots for decades, the Fuerzapura II puts player comfort at the top of it’s agenda with a unique synthetic ‘saddle’ that locks the foot in place for supreme stability, and reduced friction between foot and boot.
To cap it all off, the Lotto Fuerzapura II L100 is also priced considerately; with the top-end model available for £87.99 in the UK or $129.99 in the US, with takedown models also available. footy-boots.com
Inside the Fuerzapura II, Lotto’s ReactiveArch technology is hard at work; Using a series of ergonomically-placed ridges to massage the foot whilst playing, ReactiveArch relieves lactic acid build-up and reduces the risk of cramp. This ‘Player-First’ ethos also extends to the design of the sole, where Lotto’s Puntoflex and Twist’n’Go features support the metatarsals and offer an unmatched level of ‘off-thetoe’ grip for quick lateral cuts and turns.

THE GEAR SPECIAL
THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO BOOT MAINTENANCE
MITOO FOOTBALL REVOLUTION

SIX STEPS 1. Basic stuff first; don’t try and slip or kick your boots off! Loosening the laces and taking them off properly will help them keep their shape and cut down on wear and tear on the heels. 2. Lightly tap your boots together to get rid of any loose mud, and use a non-wire brush to get in between the studs for the rest. 3. Give the upper a once-over with a damp cloth to remove smaller particles of soil; avoid using a detergent and instead concentrate on removing as much dirt as possible. 4. Get hold of an old toothbrush to get in between the grooves of the soleplate and any features on the upper. Getting mud from in-between the sole and upper will add weeks to the life of your cleats. 5. Stuff the toes with newspaper or scrunched-up plastic bags to maintain the shape and form of the forefoot. 6. Allow them to dry as naturally for as long as possible. Putting them in front of a radiator or heater will damage the adhesive and stiffen the leather, so avoid artificial heat! Created by footy-boots.com ISSUE 03 MAR 2012
