LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Welcome to our 2011-2012 Season! We have a terrific line up of concerts that I know you will enjoy– and if you haven’t already, I encourage you to purchase your season tickets for Prometheus Trio, Philomusica String Quartet, and We Six concerts, as well as to the many Conservatory Nights and Conservatory Sundays concerts we are offering this year. Please note that our annual Festive Soiree with Robin Pluer is one-night only, December 8, at another historic ballroom–Turner Hall. Tickets are on sale through the Pabst Theater. In response to the recent dramatic cuts to education in the Milwaukee Public Schools, the Conservatory is launching a new program entitled Music Counts. This after-school program will provide a comprehensive music curriculum for early elementary students who no longer have access to a full music program in their school. The program will be held at Elm Creative Arts School on Walnut Street and will use an income-based sliding-scale tuition, making the program financially and geographically accessible. For over a dozen years, the Conservatory Connections program has provided Milwaukee Public Schools with programs to supplement and enhance their offerings, and we have had a wonderful relationship with many school music teachers. As Milwaukee’s community music school, we feel it is our role to step in and provide this instruction for Milwaukee’s youth. An early start is critical for students who may wish to become musicians, and studies have proven that music education helps children across the board with their studies. We are so glad that you have joined us for this concert and hope to see you again in the concert hall or in the classroom! Enjoy the performance, Karen Deschere President/CEO The Conservatory of Music would like to thank the following sponsors for making all of these concerts possible. “Music for Every Stage” begins with your generosity...

Escape Claws. At Second Hand Purrs, we’ve canned the kill policy. We have loving companions looking for good homes. Our volunteersupported shelter places hundreds of cats and kittens every year. So, if you’re looking for a new friend or just want to help us out, it’s a purr-fect time to visit secondhandpurrs.org or call 414-727-PURR.
