Today, You are the teacher! You know that, some days, you have to be the teacher in the physical education lessons and you have to explain the exercises in a small group. This year you have to do and effort making a better warming up. Now you have to do a warming up with a bigger group of 10-12 pupils, speaking in English all the time. TRY TO INTRODUCE THE NEW EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU CAN READ IN THIS NOTES. Remember the usual expressions that we used last year;  First, We start with.......(mobility or stretching) exercises.  Move the....(shoulders, knees,...)!  Change!  And now, you have to.....!  Make circles with the....!  Keep this position 15 seconds  Finally, we are going to....  Don’t worry if you say something wrong. It is better you try to speak in English with your friends!

Court size – 13,40 metres long and 6,10 metres wide

Rackets – Made of lightweight material like wood, plastic or metal.

Net height – 1,55 metres

SOME GENERAL RULES

RACKETS AND SHUTTLECOCK

A player can not touch the net with the racket

A birdie can hit the net on its way across during play

A player cannot reach over the net to hit the shuttlecock.

A player wins a match when wins 2 games.

The player wins a game when he gets 15 points (girls – 11 points).

Doubles (boys – girls – mixed) – 15 points DOUBLES SERVICE COURT

SERVICE 

The serve must travel diagonally to be good.

The racket must make contact with the birdie below the waist.

SINGLES SERVICE COURT

There are two different service zones (see picture)

In singles, when the server’s score is an even number, the serve is taken from the right side. When the server’s score is an odd number, it is taken from the left. (Serving in a doubles game is different)

TECHNICAL and STRATEGICAL ADVICE Remember always to get back to your HOME POSITION in the midcourt area after making each shot. This is a position where you can possibly reach any of your opponent's shots. Try to use a VARIETY OF STROKES, depending on the situation. Always try to hit the shuttle away from your opponent and make your opponent move around the court.
