Modern poultry farming requires flexibility and diversity of production to meet the requirements of local market conditions, and maximise producer returns. BOCM PAULS recognise this, and have developed a range of laying diets that will support laying birds in a variety of management systems, in the pursuit of optimum egg quality. The specifications within this range of diets reflects the need for nutritional support of increasing persistency of egg production, and provides for tailored nutritional solutions to match the egg size profile demanded by the consumer. The Advance concept of nutrition at the onset of lay provides the required nutrient density to support significant bodyweight gain concurrent with the start of egg production, at a period in the bird’s life where she may experience difficulty in matching feed intake with her rapidly changing physiological state.

CALEDONIAN ADVANCE PLUS

is a nutrient dense diet which is designed to support body growth through the onset of egg production. Typically fed through and beyond peak egg production until the desired egg grading is achieved.

CALEDONIAN ENHANCE MASH

will typically be fed until around 42 weeks of age to deliver the required nutritional support to those birds reared and managed to lay an enhanced egg weight profile.

CALEDONIAN ORIGINAL MASH

will typically be introduced once bodyweight, feed consumption and egg size have stabilised, delivering the required support for persistency of lay.

Once successfully established in lay, a programme can be tailored to support the egg mass output of the bird, to the preference of each producer.

Typically fed from arrival onto the laying farm at around 16 weeks of age. Where birds are reared and managed into lay to produce an enhanced egg weight profile, this diet will typically be fed through and beyond peak egg production, until bodyweight is approaching that of the mature breed standard, and egg gradings are appropriate to market conditions. For those flocks reared and conditioned to maximise the number of eggs laid, the diet may be fed from arrival onto the laying farm until the rate of bodyweight gain begins to decline, which is typically around 24 weeks of age.

A diet formulated with specific nutrient enhancements which help support those birds which are encouraged to produce an enhanced egg weight profile from the onset of lay. In the case of those birds managed to optimise egg number output, this diet may be fed from the point at which bodyweight gains begins to decline, up to and through peak egg production.

A robust, nutrient dense diet which will typically be introduced once bodyweight and feed consumption are determined to be stable and egg weight and grading suited to market conditions. Where birds are conditioned to optimise egg number output, a useful indicator that this diet transition would be appropriate would be the achievement of a 63g average egg weight.
