ADVENTURE AND NATURE CAMPS ALL ABOUT ANIMALS CAMP If you can’t get enough of animals, then this is the camp for you! Campers will get up close and personal with animals of all shapes, sizes, and habitats as we have fun exploring the natural habitats around us. WHITEWATER KAYAK CAMP Campers will be introduced to the world of whitewater kayaking in a safe, fun and enriching environment. Through the guidance of our experienced instructors, campers will learn the basic elements of whitewater kayaking and water safety, including wetexits, forward and reverse sweep strokes, braces, peel outs, eddy turns, ferries and river reading skills. All skills taught are designed to build a strong foundation for recreational river running. ART CAMPS YOUNG REMBRANDTS JUNIOR DRAWING CAMPS Under the Sea - Your child will love to draw all the different things we see and imagine under the sea! Narwhals, jellyfish, mermaids and more will fill our pages in bold colors and strong shapes. We will complete our last day with one large scene showcasing a whimsical underwater kingdom complete with all its subjects. $15.00 supply due at first class. Pastel Drawing - Animal lovers rejoice! Students will learn pastel drawing and texturing techniques to illustrate whimsical bees, a fanciful army of frogs, a striking owl and more artistic critters filled with detail. Challenge your creative kids by introducing them to the world of pastels. Please wear old clothes each day. $20.00 supply due at first class. Mouse Cookies and Crayons We will explore the world of Laura Numeroff in this five-day workshop full of art and reading. Each day the class will read a different Laura Numeroff book, and afterwards, students will draw a Young Rembrandts lesson which incorporates one feature of the book they’ve enjoyed reading together. Students will create wonderful drawings and bring their favorite stories to life by combining creativity and imagination! $20.00 supply due at first class. Character Creation - Students will learn the basics of cartooning and create their own original characters. Learn how to illustrate personality, mood, and action in humorous situations. We will explore the concept of personification as they apply human-like expressions and details to ordinary objects. On the last day, students will draw their own comic book page with an eye-catching panel layout, exciting action scenes, and expressive characters. $20.00 supply due at first class. MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP Certified International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) instructors will create a positive, fun and enriching environment where campers can safely improve their mountain bike riding skills. Campers will learn proper braking, shifting, body position, trail etiquette, safety, and basic bike maintenance. Campers should be comfortable riding a bike as we will do a lot of riding on different trails each day. Bring your own bike if it is in good working order, helmet, and gloves. Portions of the camp will be filmed, and the film will be reviewed with campers to further evaluate and address technique. The camp will be led by NFHS Offensive Line Coaches and directed by Coaches Cecil Flowe and Blake Palmer. Camp will meet in the football stadium at NFHS. RECREATION CENTER SUMMER DAY CAMP
General Camp Information: The summer day camp program is for children ages 6 - 10 (must be 6 by September 1, 2021). Children will participate in a structured schedule of indoor and outdoor activities including games, art, fitness, special guests and other fun theme related activities. Children will be placed into age groups and the camp has a 1:10 staff: child ratio. Campers need to bring a non-perishable sack lunch, 2 snacks, sunscreen and a change of clothes each day (Old Atlanta campers will also need a swimsuit and towel each day). Please label all personal items. Parents must sign campers in and out every day, ID will be required for pick-up every day. Pick-up and car-pooling arrangements must be arranged in the mornings before afternoon pick-up. Charges for late pick-up is $1.00 per minute per child. In order to best meet camper’s individual needs, we ask that parents/guardians inform us of any accommodations needed at the time of registration and/or at least 10 days in advance of the camp start date. Extended hours provide your child with staff supervision as they participate in a variety of activities. The Summer Day Camp Parent Handbook is provided at registration. SPECIALTY CAMPS BABYSITTER 3-DAY BOOT CAMP Learning babysitting skills is not just about changing diapers! In Babysitter Boot Camp® participants learn the business of being a good babysitter through safety skills, etiquette, marketing, choosing age appropriate games, fun activities, and knowing what parents are looking for when they hire a babysitter. Participants earn Babysitter Certification, Two Year American Heart Association CPR and AED Certification and First Aid Certification. This is a great camp for older siblings, camp counselors, neighborhood babysitters, children coming home from school alone, and Girl & Boy Scouts. Bring a lunch. BUILD YOUR OWN COMPUTER CAMP During this camp participants will learn to build their own PC the right way, the safe way and the smart way. By the end of camp campers can expect to have a fully operational PC built from the parts they choose, ready for whatever they plan to use it for. Campers will learn to choose compatible parts, install a power supple, motherboard, processor, cooler, memory, storage and graphics card. In addition, the camp will teach the participants about compatibility, longevity, cable management, air flow, how to use BIOS, overclocking and many other things! REQUIRED ACTIONS: Prior to arrival at camp, campers must use PCPartPicker.com to create the build they want. Campers must share their build with the instructors, via email, for feedback and approval BEFORE buying the parts. Foot speed and agility training will include linear and lateral movement patterns. Light weights , resistance bands and body weight exercise will challenge each camper.
