As we unveil the Best of Forsyth 2025 magazine, we are honored to celebrate the outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals that make our community exceptional. This annual tradition, presented by the Forsyth County News and Andean Chevrolet, allows readers to recognize their favorite local establishments across our county.
The nomination process, which took place throughout September, empowered community members to highlight businesses they believe exemplify the best of Forsyth. Following this, the voting phase in October saw an overwhelming response, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and support.

Kendra Rubin is celebrating two Best of Forsyth wins in 2025: Best Influencer and Best Hair Stylist. Rubin owns the Punk and Poet, where she is known for her bold styles and colors. She has previously won the Best of Forsyth Hair Stylist awards in 2021 and 2024.
Why did you choose Forsyth County as the location to open your business?
“Elliott and I chose Forsyth County as the location of our business, because Forsyth County is our HOME. Forsyth County is where the people we love live.”
How long has your business operated here?
“The P&P opened on July 1st, 2020. This summer will be our 6th birthday!”
What sets your company apart from the rest of the nominees in your category?
“I don’t really know what sets our company apart from the other hair salons in the area (other than the fact that it’s run by drag performers). We consider ourselves fortunate to have had ZERO idea about what a hair salon was “supposed to” be. Elliott and I have done our own hair since we were kids, so we didn’t have a reason to go to many (other than school).
“I suppose we are different because we know that our business has very little to do with hair, really… We definitely do hair… but we’re in the business of love, acceptance, and equality for EVERYONE.”
What was your reaction when you found out you were nominated for Best of Forsyth 2025?
“I’m just as shocked this year as I was in 2020 to have been nominated for Best of Forsyth. As humans, we wake up every morning; hoping to impact SOMEONE positively that day… A lot of times, we go to bed at night; not knowing if anything we did or said mattered… It’s the greatest feeling to see that someone thinks I’m doing a good job.”
How did it feel to find out that you won?
“It feels crazy to have won ONE award- let alone THREE…. Seems excessive… But I’ll figure out how to fit them all on a belt. ”

Los Rios Mexican restaurant has been a Forsyth County favorite for 15 years. In 2023, the Granados family opened a new concept restaurant at Cumming City Center called Los Rios Cantina. That restaurant offers the same quality Mexican food in a quick serve fashion, along with a variety of frozen margaritas. This year, both restaurants won the Best Mexican/ Best Margarita/Best Taco categories.
Why did you choose Forsyth County as the location to open your business?
“We chose Forsyth County as the location to open our business because it’s where I grew up from the age of seven. Having been raised in the area, it felt like the ideal place to establish and share our restaurant with the community. Our existing full-service restaurant, Los Rios Mexican, has received wonderful support from the community, which inspired us to introduce a fast-casual concept in the area. We wanted to create another dining option that reflects our passion for food and service while continuing to serve the community that has been so welcoming to us.”

“Our business [Los Rios Mexican Restaurant] has been operating in Forsyth County since 2009. Los Rios Cantina opened its doors in 2023.”

Anna Lyle receives Legacy of Impact Award for her service to the Forsyth County Public Library
Anna Lyle retired in January 2025 after 25 years working in the Forsyth County Public Library system, including serving as the director for nearly a decade.
“I have loved my time at Forsyth County Public Library,” Lyle said last year when she announced her retirement. “I’m honored that the Library Board entrusted me with the director role, the pinnacle of my library career. I am amazed every day by the talented library staff and their commitment to customer service and literacy.”
Lyle first began her library career more than 30 years ago, working as a shelver at a library in Duluth while she was in high school and then as an information specialist in Gwinnett County. She later began serving in library administration, starting in Forsyth County working in human resources and finance management before being appointed as the director in 2015.
Library Board Chair Christy Winters said Lyle’s leadership has had a positive impact on not just the library, but the entire community.
“Anna Lyle’s exemplary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to both the library and our community make her a deserving recipient of this special recognition from Best of Forsyth,” Winters said. “Throughout her tenure, Anna has demonstrated an exceptional ability to plan for the future and navigate challenges with grace and foresight, always putting the needs of our patrons and staff at the forefront.
“Anna is truly a pillar of the community, widely respected for her professionalism and collaborative approach to creating a library that exceeds the evolving needs of our rapidly growing county.”
The FCPL, alongside the county, has grown significantly over the past 20 years. It split from the library system in Gwinnett-Forsyth Regional Library system to become its own single-county system in 1996.
When Lyle first came to the FCPL in 1999, there was one library with about two dozen staff members. Now, there are about 130 staff members working at four library branches in Forsyth County with another, Denmark Library, about to open.
And aside from day-to-day operations, Lyle has
overseen several major accomplishments of the local library system. This includes the expansion and renovation of the Sharon Forks Library, the design and construction of the Denmark Library, the digitization of the Forsyth County News’ print editions from 1916-2019 and the introduction of the World Languages collection.
Lyle has said she is especially proud of the launch of the system’s Outreach department including the bookmobile, one of the first modern mobile libraries in Georgia. Using impact fees, Lyle and her team designed and launched the library on wheels to reach underserved areas of the Forsyth County community, giving every resident the chance to browse and check out books.
Just this month, the Georgia Public Library Service named Lyle as the 2024 Georgia Public Library Director of the Year.
“Anna Lyle has made significant and lasting contributions to the Forsyth County Public Library System, and to the wider Georgia library community,” state librarian Julie Walker said. “Under Anna’s leadership, Forsyth County libraries have grown and prospered; they are a model of innovation, community engagement and educational support, providing children and families with exceptional library services and programs.
“FCPL has been so fortunate to have Anna as their trusted leader,” Walker continued. “She will be missed across our state.”
In addition to her dedication to the library system, Lyle has been an active part of several civic and non-profit organizations in Forsyth County, including Mentor Me North Georgia, Forsyth County Arts Alliance, Rotary Club of Lanier Forsyth, Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Forsyth.
“Her dedication to fostering collaboration and strengthening community ties has been a cornerstone of her leadership style,” said Winters. “Anna is deeply respected not only by her colleagues and the Library Board but also by the many individuals and organizations she has worked alongside in her efforts to enhance the quality of life in our community.”

Cumming Dance Academy has been a fixture in the Forsyth County arts community for more than two decades. Founded by Niki Watkins in 2003, CDA has won 11 Best of Forsyth awards.
Why did you choose Forsyth County as the location to open your business?
“I opened my first studio location in 2003, here in Cumming. I had been searching for a location in North Georgia that I found was lacking in the dance education department. I opened in 2003 with one small studio on Elm Street and now we have 7 studio rooms and 3 locations.”
How long has your business operated here?
“This community has been a blessing to us for 22 years now.”
What sets your company apart from the rest of the nominees in your category?
“All of the dance studios in this area are great! I’m thankful to be in a category with other studios in which I know they love and care about children.
“We have been in business a long time and have been able to fine tune what works and what doesn’t work. We are known for our outstanding productions twice a year where we provide much more than a ‘dance recital.’ We have been told our performances can be held up against any off-Broadway production.
“Many of our children start at age 3 and do not leave until they graduate high school. It has been one of my
greatest joys to see dancers who began with me at age 3 and then finish at 18. Many of them stay in touch and still come back to our shows each year. We now have some second-generation dancers (their moms took dance from me as well). That’s really special!
“We also believe in sharing much more with the dancers than a simple dance class. We teach confidence, discipline, and give love to each and every child who walks [through] our doors. We teach far more than dance and are not just looking for the next competition dancer! At our studio, there is a place for everyone. From the one class a week dancer to the 6 day a week competitive dancer – we welcome everyone, and everyone will find a place at CDA regardless of skill or ability. We also have some great adult classes. We offer a variety of styles in addition to the classic ballet, tap, and jazz.”
What was your reaction when you found out you were nominated for Best of Forsyth 2025?
“It is always a huge honor! We do our best to give back to the community when we can by visiting senior citizen homes and participating in parades and local events. To have the support of so many behind us rejuvenates us each year to continue to work harder and provide this county with the highest quality in dance education.”
How did it feel to find out that you won?
“It is always a huge honor to win Best of Forsyth! We’ve been lucky enough to win it several years in a row – and it humbles us each year to have so much support for the community.”

“We chose Forsyth County because it felt like home from the beginning. The people here are all about connection, fun, and living life to the fullest, which is exactly the vibe we wanted for our fitness studio. We set out to create a place where the community could feel supported and surrounded by good energy. Forsyth has been the perfect place to make that dream a reality.”

“We first opened our doors here in 2020, and it’s been an incredible journey ever since! Last October, we expanded into a brand-new location right in the heart of downtown Cumming, with more space to welcome in new friends.”

“The simple answer is our people—they are truly the heartbeat of our business. In an industry that’s often driven by competition, we stand out as a non-competitive studio, offering an inclusive and welcoming space for everybody and every body. “It’s hard to put into words just how humbling it is just to even be nominated. As a small business, this recognition means the world to us and reminds us why we do what we do. It’s truly a testament to the amazing community that supports and inspires us and each other every day.”
How did it feel to find out you won?
“When we found out we won, it felt like a total whirlwind of emotions—there were happy tears, hugs, and maybe a little bit of jumping up and down (okay, a lot!). We were completely shocked and so incredibly touched. It’s one of those snapshot moments where you just pause, take it all in, and think, ‘Wow, this is real!’ We’re beyond grateful to Forsyth News for celebrating local businesses and to our amazing community for their love and support.”

The Cumming City Center, one of the newest destinations in Forsyth County, brings back a small-town Americana feel.
Home to the Cumming Farmers Market every Saturday morning, the City Center also houses local boutiques including Avenue of the Oaks, Lily Rose Co., Pieces and Peaches, Roxy Moxy and TopKnotch. Rugged Refined, a men’s clothing store, debuted in 2024.
There’s a myriad of choices for food and drink like Crooked Culture Brewery, Good Vibes Nutrition, Myth & Legend Coffee, Vampire Penguin, Los Rios Cantina, SliceAbility, Tin Cup Grill, and newcomers Santa Maria - a Latin Tapas, Seafood & Oyster Bar and Super Pho & Boba. The City Center’s pocket parks offer boardwalks overlooking wetlands with plenty of seating to enjoy the view. The City of Cumming’s Veterans War Memorial lines the pond near the amphitheater.
