Jesse’s House is a home for adolescent girls in need of a safe, nurturing environment. Since 1998 we have served over 1,000 youth from all over Georgia who were removed from their homes in order to secure their safety and well-being. We strive to serve as a counterbalance for the neglect and abuse they may have suffered by assessing the needs of each individual placed in our care. We make sure their medical, dental and mental health needs are addressed as well as their educational, emotional and social needs. We also teach them life skills necessary for independent living, plan enrichment activities and make sure they have lots of fun too! Our mission is to provide a safe, caring home where they receive the encouragement and support they need to guide them through the challenges of their present life and for years beyond.

Oscar Veiga works long hours stocking food at a grocery store. But though he is surrounded by it and laboring hard to help provide it, Oscar actually once faced the possibility of going without food. That was until a friend pointed him toward the Place of Forsyth, one of Georgia Mountain Food Bank’s 70 partnership agencies. Now, the 73-year-old, who lost his well-paying construction job, can stock groceries while maintaining a peace of mind that he and wife Emma will not go without. “I'm in good shape because of the food I get here,” Oscar said. “I think when I retire I’d like to come work and help here.” Thanks to the help provided by the Place of Forsyth, Oscar also has the time and energy to help his grandson construct medal-winning pinewood derby cars and continue a journey of hope begun when he became a U.S. Citizen years ago.
