CYSS offers various programs to support children and families with child care, recreation, socialization and child development for children of all ages. The Child Development Centers (CDCs) offer full day and hourly child care programs for ages 6 weeks–5 years old. School Age Center (SAC) offers a variety of care, including part day preschool and full day, hourly, and before and after school care for school age children. The Family Child Care (FCC) program offers full day, hourly, before and after school and extended hours care for ages 6 weeks–12 years old. The Youth Center (YC) offers an afterschool middle school program, open recreation, health, fitness and social opportunities for 6th grade and up.

Child Development Centers (CDC’s) Army CYSS Programs have been described as “a model for the nation,” and they do the best to deserve that accolade! All of the centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The rates are competitive with other programs of comparable quality. Hourly care is also available at South Post CDC Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm. Reservations may be made up to four weeks in advance. If you want to know about the daily lesson plans, schedules and routines, child growth and development issues, or what constitutes a quality day care experience for children, just ask! Strong Beginnings Pre-K This program targets school readiness by focusing on social, emotional, academic and physical development children preparing to enter kindergarten. Students’ progress is reported to parents to ensure that they’re reaching expected school readiness goals. During a typical morning, students focus on Mathematics, Language/Literacy, Science/Technology or Social Studies; they engage in fun interactive learning stations for Creative Expression, Art, Woodworking, Cooking, Water/Sand and Music/Movement. Markham School Age Center (SAC) SAC complements the school day with a state-of-the-art computer lab and homework center to ensure support with school assignments. During the school year, SAC offers part day preschool and prekindergarten programs for children 3–5 years old. The curriculum emphasizes physical well-being, language usage, attentiveness, imagination, world knowledge, social and emotional development. Family Time Computer Lab at Markham SAC Open on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month from 9:30 am–1:30 pm. For details, call 703.805.9100.

Family Child Care (FCC) Choosing child care is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. Child care should fit a parent’s idea about parenting and learning, as well as their child care needs. The Family Child Care program at Belvoir complies with Army regulations (AR 60810) and offers a safe, home like environment, professionally trained providers, nutritious meals and snacks, smaller ratios, Creative Curriculum Standards of Learning and multiple child care options that meet regular and mission readiness child care requirements. Army Child Care in Your Neighborhood (ACCYN) The U.S. Army and the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) have joined forces to help Army Families find and pay for quality off-post child care through Army Child Care in Your Neighborhood (ACCYN). Army Families eligible for the program are active duty Army, Army DoD civilians, active duty Army Guard & Reserve. The goal of this project is to ensure civilian child care programs provide care to Army Families that are comparable in quality and cost to Army operated on-post spaces. EFMP provides support to military Families with special needs. The program offers activities for children enrolled in the program. Respite Care EFMP has a respite care program that offers up to 40 hours of care for each registered exceptional family member. Respite care provides temporary rest for family members responsible for the regular care of family members with disabilities. Eligibility for EFMP respite care funding is for active-duty Army Families and based on EFMP enrollment and exceptional family member’s medical condition. The objectives of FAP are to prevent spouse and child abuse, to encourage the reporting of all instances of such abuse, to ensure the prompt assessment and investigation of all abuse cases, to protect victims of abuse, and to treat all Family members affected by or involved in abuse. Couples’ 5K Run / February 11 We invite teams of all ages to join us for this run/walk . Participants may compete as a Male/ Female Team, Female Team, or Male Team. Teams must consist of two members. The combined age of the pair will determine which category they will run in. Participants must compete as a team only. $30 early registration fee and after January 11, $40 registration fee. Ongoing Aerobics Program Stay on the road to health with aerobics classes beginning January 9.
