When you want to look for an aerobics class at Lewis Main, you have a wealth of choices for your interests and schedule—thanks to volunteer instructors. The bulk of classes are taught by volunteers at Wilson Sports and Fitness Center (while Jensen Family Health & Fitness Center undergoes renovations), Soldiers Field House and Keeler Sports and Fitness Center. Volunteers lead classes 34 hours a week at Wilson, three hours a week at Soldiers Field House and two hours weekly at Keeler. Eileen Kelley assists Ronald Raymond in preparing volunteers for instruction at Wilson. “If volunteers need help with fitness certification, we give them opportunities to practice teaching along with an instructor, holding practice classes and working on timing and music,” she says. Volunteers have the opportunity to sign up for certification of their hours to work toward awards and recognition. For instance, volunteers were recently recognized at an awards ceremony at Jensen Family Health & Fitness Center (see right). “Our volunteers like to

Winterizing your ride Simple preventive measures can increase your safety, while helping your vehicle maintain its performance. By Ryki Carlson, JBLM Financial Counselor

Cooler temperatures signal that it’s time to start thinking about winterizing your vehicle. Cold temperatures cause your engine to work harder while snow and ice limit your vehicle’s traction.
Good visibility is essential to safe driving. Take the time to inspect your wipers
and fill your wiper fluid. If your wipers are leaving streaks on your windshield or the rubber is cracking, replace them. If your vehicle is parked outside at night, raise your wipers to prevent them from freezing to the windshield.
Ensure your battery is in good shape. A thorough inspection of the cables, fluid levels and terminals can prevent you from being stranded. If your battery is more than three years old, consider having it tested.
Check your cooling system for cracks, leaks and contamination from oil or grease. Ensure your antifreeze mixture is correct. For most vehicles, the cooling
