Tianaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Top 5 Favorite MWR Facilities Tiana is a Marketing Assistant for the MWR Marketing Office in the MWR Headquarters, located on Lewis Main. Here are some of her other favorite facilities nearby. 1. MWR Headquarters: Tiana has worked in the Marketing Office since December and loves creating illustrations and designs for MWR. 2. Jensen Family Health & Fitness Center: Sometimes during lunch Tiana will go for a short workout at the gym down the street. 3. Grandstaff Library: Tiana carpools with her partner to work most days and sometimes has extra time before going home, so she often goes to the library for some light reading or sketching. 4. Bowl Arena Lanes: After hearing great things, Tiana has started getting takeout from Bowl Arena for a yummy lunch treat. 5. Leisure Travel Services: Tiana is planning her next vacation and visits LTS inside Sounders Lanes to get ideas about discount tickets to theme parks.

SPC Kyle Seymour’s Top 5 Favorite MWR Facilities SPC Kyle Seymour is from the Field Artillery Branch of the U.S. Army. He’s currently the JBLM BOSS President. Here are some of his favorite facilities nearby! 1. BOSS Office: Kyle has worked for the BOSS team since February. He loves to interact with single Service members and providing them with recreation and leisure opportunities. 2. Warrior Zone: Sometimes Kyle will compete in eSports tournament and watch UFC matches on Saturdays. He also occasionally indulges in the Hawaiian Reaper Pizza at the Warrior Zone Café. 3. Northwest Adventure Center: After learning about the NAC, Kyle often visits the facility to coordinate with staff to plan amazing outdoor activities for single Service members. 4. Wilson Sports & Fitness Center: Conveniently located next to his office, Kyle utilizes this facility to remain active before and after work. 5. 1st Lt. Daniel Rivera’s Top 5 Favorite MWR Facilities 1st Lt. Daniel Rivera works as the Sustainment Services Deputy Flight Commander from the Force Support Squadron of the U.S. Air Force, where he integrates with JBLM MWR and the 404th AFSB for the McChord Fitness Center and Dining Halls. These are some of his favorite nearby facilities. 1. Arts & Crafts Center: Daniel enjoys working with crafts and using the Arts & Crafts Center’s equipment for going-away gifts for his unit. 2. Adventures Unlimited: Daniel is an avid hiker and camper, so he’s always looking out for the latest on upcoming Adventures Unlimited hiking trips and classes. 3. Sounders Lanes is one of the places that Daniel often goes to for lunch for a great menu, fun atmosphere and close proximity. 4. Whispering Firs Golf Course is his favorite golf course in the South Sound area; it’s great for practicing at the range or playing a game with friends. 5. Learn about FCC at the monthly evening orientations at the FCC office (no children allowed at the orientation due to space/discussion topics). Full-day training classes will meet weekdays following the orientation. All classes are required for FCC certification. FCC has unique qualities that make it a preferred choice for many families. Shoreline Park Open during the summer, Shoreline Park offers swimming and recreational pavilions for rent. Summer Cove A picturesque waterfront park on American Lake with shallow wading area, Summer Cove also has a sandy beach, trails and playground. It’s an ideal spot to sun and wade in American Lake. With a scenic view of Mount Rainier, you can bring the kids to play on a playground and splash park with age-appropriate zones. Have a picnic on one of the picnic tables and walk the trail between Summer Cove and Shoreline Park! Summer Cove is just a short walk away from Russell Landing Marina at the end of American Lake Avenue at Lewis North.

Russell Landing Marina Open April through September, Russell Landing Marina is the place to stop to enjoy a day on American Lake. Rent a pontoon boat, motorboat, jet ski, kayak or stand-up paddle-

Travel Camps & cabins Welcome to the JBLM MWR Travel Camp, open all year long. There are 48 full hook-ups with cable TV and six tent sites. The campground is located on the shore of American Lake. Swimming is authorized only at Shoreline Park, which is a short drive or walk away. Fishing is allowed from the banks of American Lake year-round. Fishing licenses are required and can be obtained at the Northwest Adventure Center. Log cabins Our state-of-the-art outdoor recreation facility, featuring a beautiful community of recreational cabins, is an absolute hit with the military and their families looking to get away and experience the great outdoors. Our cabins are nestled in a quiet corner of American Lake at Lewis North. American Lake is a recreational dream with fishing, boating and swimming as major attractions. Most of the recreational cabins feature unobstructed views of the waterfront. Ducks, geese and mating pairs of bald eagles can often be seen enjoying this quiet oasis along the I-5 corridor. Choose from four cabin sizes: • One-, two-, or three-bedroom cabins with a separate sleeping area and hide-a-bed couch in living area. • Studio with bed and two comfy chairs. The three-bedroom cabin sleeps eight adults. The two-bedroom cabins sleep six adults. The one-bedroom cabins sleep four adults and feature a separate bedroom plus a hide-a-bed sleeper couch. The smaller studio cabins sleep two adults. For your safety, health and comfort, all cabins are nonsmoking and non-pet, except for service animals with proper paperwork.

Holiday Park Holiday Park is located at McChord Field, in a natural setting of Douglas fir with a wide variety of vegetation and wildlife unique to the Pacific Northwest. It provides family camping with a variety of camper and tent spaces. Campers have sites that provide water, sewer and electricity (W/S/E) with 30-amp or 50-amp hook-ups, dry camping spots and tent sites; reservations can be made one year in advance. Support facilities provide restrooms, showers, laundry with soap or bleach machine, sewage dump station, jogging track, hiking trails and grills, as well as a full range of nearby base services.

Go wild on an ATV Love to ride an ATV? Eligible patrons ages 18 and older can rent ATVs for yourself and your family members and run the ORV Park course at Lewis Main! You’ll be shown a safety video at the Shotgun Shooting Complex and be taught how to ride before you’re allowed on the course. If you own an ATV or dirt bike and want to ride the course, you’ll need to register your vehicle, comply with all requirements and pay all fees at the Shotgun Shooting Complex. Fish the day away on JBLM lakes If you love to fish, then JBLM has what you’re looking for with many lakes available for fishing. American Lake offers up rainbow trout, rock bass and yellow perch. Sequalitchew Lake at Lewis North has largemouth bass with the occasional coho salmon. At Lewis Main, choose from Chambers Lake, Lewis Lake, Cat Lake, Fianders Lake and the many marshes located in the training areas. To fish Lewis, Cat, Sequalitchew, Chambers, Fianders and other marsh areas, you’re required to have an area access pass from Range Control. Gas-powered boats are only allowed on American Lake; boats on all other lakes at JBLM must be electric-powered. Shoot at the ranges Enjoy one of three outdoor ranges at Lewis Main if you’re a shotgun, pistol or archery shooting enthusiast. The Shotgun Shooting Complex has a standard five ranges with a sixth for fivestand shooting. You can shoot skeet, trap and wobble skeet from a 60-foot duck tower. Monthly 100-target sporting clays events are held all year. Instructional shooting is available if you’re new to the sport or want to improve your aim. Rental guns are available and shooting supplies are available for purchase. The range is located at 3969 2nd Division Range Rd. just outside the Scouts Out gate. The Archery Range is open to long-bow, compound and traditional shooters and is adjacent to the Shotgun Shooting Complex. It offers four static archery lanes with 10-, 20-, 30- and 40-yard distances with aero-archery targets.

The Rifle & Pistol Range (Range 15) is located at 0015 East Gate Road at Lewis Main. This range is a safe, relaxing place to perfect your marksmanship.
