Enfield Festivals A network of individuals and independent organisations run a wealth of arts and sports activities across Enfield, adding to the rich cultural landscape and offering even more ways to get creative or active.

Active Enfield A sports development service offering affordable and accessible physical activity courses throughout Enfield, including boxing, Tai Chi and yoga. Also runs major sports events, including the annual Night Hike and Fun Run, and works in partnership with Fusion to manage Enfield’s seven leisure centres.

Museum of Enfield Located in the Dugdale. ‘Enfield Life’, the permanent free exhibition, features objects used or manufactured in Enfield from ancient times to the present day. Welcome This summer, Forty Hall will wow you with a fill-to-bursting programme of events. Enjoy open air theatre (including a fantastic production of Billionaire Boy by David Walliams), a traditional Village Fete (complete with dog show), sumptuous Afternoon Tea in the Hall and an exhibition by textile artist Cos Ahmet – to name but a few of the highlights! There’s even a Gaming Day in celebration of Father’s Day – linking to Enfield Museum’s exhibition at the Dugdale in April. Terrific Toys: Made and Played in Enfield will undoubtedly make you nostalgic for the toys you played with as a child, all the while

making you proud of the borough’s rich history of manufacture. It’s a ‘don’t miss it’ kind of exhibition and it’s free…so that’s awesome. Meanwhile, Chas and Dave head back to Millfield Theatre in April for a good ol’ Cockney knees up and the hilarious Pirate Squad puppets set sail back to the Dugdale in June for a Hawaiian adventure…. laughter and much sing-a-long promised! Chas & Dave are still selling out theatres across the UK and this April fans are in for a treat as the musical duo head back to Edmonton for not one, but two homecoming gigs! Millfield Theatre are delighted to host Chas and Dave for a matinee gig, aimed at children and families as well as an evening gig on Sunday 10 September. Double the opportunity to hear, first hand, all the hits that made this cockney duo famous, including ‘Gertcha’, ‘Sideboard Song’, ‘Rabbit’, ‘Ain’t No Pleasing You’, ‘Margate’ and many more. Still going strong, in the past three years Chas and Dave have recorded a new hit album ‘That’s What Happens’ on Warner Brothers Records. They recently headlined the Royal Variety Show, sold out the Royal Albert Hall London, performed an arena tour with Status Quo and made a guest appearance on BBC TV ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Their hit single ‘I’m Going Back’ also featured in the Heathrow Airport 2016 Christmas TV advert. So, due to public demand, here they are once more; ready to give the audience a good time!

Simon Weston; My Life, My Story It was the conflict of a generation and one that many will never forget. On the second of April 1982 Argentina invaded the Falklands Islands In one of the most horrific moments of the conflict the RFA Sir Galahad was bombed by two Argentinian planes, aboard at the time was Simon Weston CBE. This was an event which would change his life forever. Against all the odds, Simon escaped the burning

and buckled ship, but only after suffering 46% burns to his body. Now after his 2015 sell out UK tour Simon returns to the stage to share his incredible life story about one man’s journey from the front line of war, being on the edge of death, to today being a happy and contented father, grandfather and national treasure.

Seussical the Musical Centre Stage returns to Millfield Theatre following their hugely successful production of ‘The Wiz’. Seussical brings together many of Dr Seuss’s much-loved characters and fables as it tells the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a small speck of dust that contains the Whos. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a kidnapping, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him and ultimately the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant.

Andy Fairweather Low Andy Fairweather Low’s pedigree is the stuff rock dreams are made of. The Manfreds – Makin’ Tracks Tour 2017 The ‘60s group Manfred Mann is now considered, more than ever, one of the finest and most respected bands from that era. Their numerous hits were R&B based with an undercurrent of jazz – a very unusual but winning combination of playing style and substance. Songs, airs and dances from Jane Austen’s notebooks by Arne, Sophia Dussek, the Duchess of Devonshire and others Musical gatherings, dances, and private concerts are all referred to regularly by Jane Austen, and her extensive music collection contains songs, lessons and concertos from the mid-18th century to the latest published dances. As well as numerous songs – some with versions for flute – there is a considerable amount of harp music, and Jane Austen is believed to have heard the renowned harpist Sophia Dussek play – and may even have played to her. Mulberry Tree Artwork – Morus londinium To celebrate London’s Mulberry tree heritage an engraved mirror will be placed under the branches of our beautiful old Mulberry for visitors to gain an alternative perspective of its beautiful form. Forty Hall Farm Beer and Blues Festival Following its successful launch last year, the Forty Hall Farm Beer and Blues Festival is back for 2017! With two stages of some of the best rhythm and blues around, the Festival will include a line-up of local blues acts, as well special guests from further afield. There will be over 20 ales and cider on tap from local London producers, as well as delicious local street food. The Romans Were Here! Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Romans lived in Enfield. Archaeological finds from the area tell us lots about the people who lived here before us. Roman Mosaics The Romans have influenced art, design and archaeology across the centuries. Find inspiration on a trail around Forty Hall then design and make a tile mosaic art work to take home with you. Advance booking recommended. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 4 – 11.

Points of Juncture by Cos Ahmet The core of Cos Ahmet’s work is centred around on the body, and more specifically, his own. Recurring themes of self, identity, gender and memory, are emotive features in much of his work, displayed as a complex set of body dialogues. Shaped by his use of metaphors, the body becomes symbolised through various interlinks – points of juncture, where body and material respond or react with each other. These responses come to light in the diverse processes and characteristics of his practice, that range from woven tapestry, works on paper, to sculpture and objects, as he makes loose connections with their attributes to represent parts of the human form. Ahmet’s approach to making, takes the traditional and practical methods of weaving, and combines the other disciplines in his practice to turn this quiet and meditative medium, typically associated with the domestic, and the subtlety of a craft usually reserved for intimate, detailed work, into challenging, visceral and thought provoking works. Explore this thought provoking exhibition which features varied processes and characteristics ranging from woven tapestry and works on paper to sculpture and objects. Line Drawing with Pen + Ink: Botanical Drawing Workshop Line drawing in pen and ink helps to develop observational drawing skills in botanical illustrators. In this two-day course you will experiment with variation of line, including stipple and hatching, as well as washes to produce a fully rendered tonal study of your botanical subject. Murder on The Terrace The scene is set: a respectable garden party to celebrate Lord Cava’s retirement and the handing over of his sparkling wine empire to his nephew, Charles. It is no secret that Charles intends to shut down the business and convert Lord Cava’s Manor (The Cavary) into a conference centre. Unsurprisingly, Charles is later found dead, poisoned, clutching Hercule – Lord Cava’s beloved pet parrot. The garden party is thrown into disarray, the sardonic Inspector Back arrives to investigate and the twists and turns of a whodunit both puzzle and entertain alongside dangerous amounts of humour. Can you solve the mystery? This original murdermystery by David Kerby-Kendall will be an interactive play with references to Downton, Agatha Christie, part romp, part farce and a whole lot of fun.

An Afternoon of Opera with Lucy Elston Lucy presents an uplifting programme of popular Opera, classical art song and favourites from musical theatre. Lucy is a classic and operatic Soprano based in London. Will you be a Superhero this year? Join hundreds of fellow walkers and raise funds for Nightingale Cancer Support Centre on the annual boroughwide charity walk – the Night Hike. This year, the theme for the 15km walk is Superheroes so get your capes, masks and leotards ready for what promises to be a warm, friendly and community-spirited event! The Night Hike is always a hugely popular event, attracting some 600 participants. We are looking to make this event the biggest and the best yet so if you are interested in getting involved please enter via the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre website. The annual Night Hike started in 2011 and has raised approximately £60,000 over the years for local people affected by cancer. Refugee Boy Follow the story of Alem, a refugee forced to flee his family and country for London in the late 1990s, to escape civil war at home in the disputed region between Ethiopia and Eritrea. The play, directed by Jelena Budimir and based on the book by acclaimed poet Benjamin Zephaniah, shows us the human face behind the news stories. Mad Dog Dave Barnes possesses the best Blues voice in the business with a band to match comprising Vintage players John Crowther, Dave Thomas and Pete Abernethy on drums. They’ll be joined by a number of friends from St Harmonica’s Blues Club and beyond including Professor Redhair so anything could happen, and probably will. A flavour of Friday evenings from one of London’s top Blues Clubs. The Blues Chapter are possibly the finest young (under 40) blues band around. A veritable explosion of talent they know how to tear up a stage better than some of those gnarled veterans of the scene. They provide the ‘New’ with a set contain original material as well as some searing Texas Blues reminiscent of SRV at his best.
