MINISTRY OF SOUND PRESENT M25 FESTIVAL 11AM - 9PM | SUNDAY 7TH AUGUST 2016 TRENT PARK, COCKFOSTERS, LONDON EARLY BIRD TICKETS START AT £25

WWW.EVENTBRITE.COM/E/M25-FESTIVALTICKETS-25564970515?AFF=FOUND

Celebrating 25 years at the heart of British club culture, Ministry of Sound announce a new all-day event M25 Festival, taking place at Trent Park in North London on Sunday 7th August 2016. M25 Festival will reunite some of dance music’s most legendary names with arenas hosted by A Night In Paradise in honour of Paradise Garage, and Shoom.

From 1977 - 1987, NYC music institution Paradise Garage nurtured house music from it’s disco origins and launched the careers of seminal figures such as Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles and Nicky Siano. Alongside peers such as The Loft and Studio 54, Paradise Garage set the mould for club culture as we know it today and established dance music’s enduring ethos of vibrant inclusivity. As Paradise Garage closed it’s doors for the last time in New York, London’s Shoom was just getting started as a young Danny Rampling returned from Ibiza, bringing Balearic club culture to the UK. First opening it’s doors in 1987, Shoom Club became a launching point for acid house, spearheading one of the UK’s most recognisable social movements in recent history.

Representing the northern corner-stone of club culture, M25 Festival will host the Haçienda Classical for their only London festival performance this season. With a forty-piece orchestra in tow, the Haçienda Classical will reinterpret classic club anthems, bringing a truly unique music offering to the show. Two further acts revealed ahead of the full lineup announcement take the form of Eric Morillo, a vanguard of house music since the early 90s who relaunched his revered imprint Subliminal Records last year. Original house gangster, DJ Sneak is also confirmed. Famed for his playful, high-energy sets, Sneak’s performance at M25 Festival is sure to prove a highlight of the day. As the home for last year’s inaugural 51st State Festival, the stunning surrounds of Trent Park in Cockfosters offers a gleaming gem of urban countryside, providing the perfect place for Ministry Of Sound’s all-day celebration. Taking place on a Sunday as a nod to early British rave culture, the North London location is situated a stone’s throw from the M25 motorway, aiming to recapture the magic and integrity of the M25 rave scene and invite festivals goers from all generations to enjoy the free-spirited atmosphere and revelry on offer. NORTH SQUARE

A participatory installation in which you can rock gently and watch the view slowly change through 360 degrees; Listen to the Life Boat A to Z; sit with Death or stare at HOPE in the mirror... Write your Forecast for the Future in the Ship’s Log.

A circus show ankle-deep in water? Why not! Two clowns step into the spotlight in this uncommon show where the Chinese Pole becomes a flute, the water turns into a drum, the guitar and the banjo fearlessly face down eddies, and the stage... is filled with water. While one gets his feet wet, so to speak, the other goes to great lengths to avoid a dunking. In a production overflowing with wildly hysterical shenanigans and adorably poetic scenes, the show will leave the little ones—and their parents—in fits of laughter.

People of all ages and persuasions welcome aboard the ICD LIFE BOAT. Rock gently, turn slowly, help push the boat or play the drums: listen to the LIFE BOAT alphabet. Make conversation with fellow travellers and crew. Sit with Death and stare at HOPE in the mirror... Then post your forecast for the future... The ICD Life Boat is about slowness, kindness and gentleness. It is about getting your bearings whilst rocking gently and looking at the world from a slowly changing point of view.

PYMMES PARK

FIRS FARM

Pymmes Park Lake was constructed in the 1930s as an amenity feature in the newly created Pymmes Park. This was accomplished by damming Moore Brook, a natural watercourse. The lake has suffered pollution problems for several decades. These are caused by polluted runoff from roads and misconnected sewers from private properties amongst other factors.

Firs Farm Playing Fields is an open space on the boundary between Edmonton and Winchmore Hill in the London Borough of Enfield. The wetlands project saw whole parts of the park landscaped to create not only a wetlands area to prevent pollution, but a woodland watercourse and walk, plus educational features will be completed shortly such as an outdoor classroom and ‘dipping platform’ for schools.

The area has been developed into a wetlands which creates dry weather flow entering the lake will first passing through the wetlands, cleaning it as it does. The Wetlands achieve this in three ways: - Filtration of suspended solids;
 - Uptake of nutrients through plant growth;
 - Provision of a growing medium for bacteria that naturally break down
many kinds of polluting materials such as hydrocarbons.
In addition the wetlands are intended to enhance the amenity value of the park and increase biodiversity by creating a habitat for a variety of wildlife.

Although the wetlands are fully open, some works are still under construction forming part of the Enfield 2020 sustainability programme by encouraging wildlife, improving the local environment, and encouraging residents and visitors to make the most of Enfield’s green spaces. The new 600m cycleway, which will link the east and west points of the park, will provide access for all sections of the community such as cyclists and pedestrians, particularly those with buggies and the disabled. It will be an attractive route for local children to get to and from school, and also help people travel

MAYOR’S YEAR GET ENFIELD SINGING AND DANCING

For Enfield’s new Mayor, Cllr Bernadette Lappage, music is magical, joyful, moving and powerful. It is, therefore, not surprising that it is the central theme of her mayoral year celebrating the sheer volume and energy that Enfield has to offer in a year –long festival ‘Enfield Sounds Great’.

Thinking about adoption?

Every child deserves a loving home. We urgently need adopters for siblings, older children, children of black or mixed heritage and children with complex medical needs. Adoption North London is a partnership of six local authority adoption agencies: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington. We all work together to provide the very best possible service for children waiting to be adopted and for those wanting to adopt.

She says: “People will be surprised to discover just how much music is performed in our borough. I want them to enjoy it in every way – listening, playing instruments, singing, dancing and discovering the enormous output and variety.” Cllr Lappage recognises that music has benefits for everyone and during the year she will be raising funds to support various local musical causes.

“It will give children new opportunities to learn how to play – and who knows what talent will be revealed,” says Cllr Lappage, “indeed people of all ages can benefit from this year of music-making and some of the monies raised might fund music bursaries for those who have not got the finances to take their music further.” Throughout the borough music will be performed in well – loved venues: Forty Hall, Millfield Theatre, the Dugdale Centre and parks. It brings people together and will provide opportunities to raise funds for therapies that can help people living with dementia or coping with depression.

For children and young people she is keen that they have access to perform in choirs, make music in youth bands, take part in the popular singing Glee projects in schools and learn to play musical instruments.

Cllr Lappage points out: “Our festival is not all about fundraising – but will profile all the amazing music performed in Enfield and the great talent that thrives among its people. Enfield Music Service, local choirs, Black History Month, cultural celebrations, traditional events - music in all its forms will celebrate our borough in a great year – please join in.”

An amnesty for people to come forward donating broken and unused instruments will be publicised during the year so that they can be repaired and used again.

Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Saint Monica’s Players present Urinetown, an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Its wickedly modern wit gives it a sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

Woodbine Willie was the nickname of the Rev. Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy – The Vicar of St Paul’s Church, Worcester who volunteered as a chaplain on the Western front during World War One. He won the Military Cross for his reckless courage helping wounded soldiers in no man’s land. This superb theatrical production shows the vital role he played on the Battlefield of Belgium. Theatre, poetry and live music combine to bring an incredible life to the stage. ‘In 1917 Woodbine Willie was awarded the Military Cross “for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He showed the greatest courage and disregard for his own safety… and his cheerfulness and endurance had a splendid effect upon all ranks in the trenches”. This play of overwhelming sincerity and honesty is a moving and heart-warming tribute to him.’ Presented by Searchlight Theatre Company.Written by: David Robinson, Directed by: Michael Taylorson

There is something for everyone, young and old, with much to explore and try out from canoeing and white water rafting, dressing up as kings and queens, watching sheep being sheared, sitting in a ‘Giant Chair’ along the sculpture trail in River Lee Country Park, or just relaxing in the Lee Valley’s many leafy open spaces.

ANIMAL ANTICS ON THE FARMS For those looking for some animal attractions as well as fun and entertainment for children in the holidays, what better way to spend a day than at Lee Valley Park Farms in Waltham Abbey. With the farms open every day of the week, the fun never stops, as during the whole summer there are a host of activities and attractions, including taking a thrilling toboggan ride and meeting the 300 animals, including cheeky Meerkats, llamas, guinea pigs, rabbits and exotic species such as Bearded Dragons.

48

There are also a whole lot of special activities going on, from lamb racing and sheep shearing at May Half Term (shearing Monday 30 May to Friday 3 June) to a celebration of the

Queen’s Birthday on Sunday 12 June, when children are invited to come dressed up as Kings, Queens, Princesses and Knights. The farms are also marking Father’s Day on 19 June, when dads go free! Open daily until 30 October 2016, 10:00-17:00. Price: Adults £9.50, children/concessions £8.50, under 2s free (book online for 10% off).

SPLASH INTO SUMMER AT LEE VALLEY WHITE WATER CENTRE Celebrate the summer months with some exciting water sports and fun activities for the children at Lee Valley White Water Centre in Waltham Cross. There’s a chance to try many of the water sports available throughout the summer such as canoeing, Family Rafting, Go Sup – stand up paddle boarding for the over eights on the lake and rafting the rapids (age 14 and upwards) down the same 300 metre course where Team GB won gold and silver in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Half Term Week at the beginning of June sees a host of things to do for families, while during Go Canoeing Week, which ends on Sunday 5 June, there are hour long taster sessions to try for families for just £5 per person, paddling on the crystal clear lake - for children aged 8 and over.

The centre is also marking the Queen’s Birthday with a Mad Hatter themed tea party with afternoon tea, garden games, and a bouncy castle, along with live music and a Queen of Hearts Treasure Trail, in addition to its usual water sports activities. There’s lots in store for children at Lee Valley White Water Centre, with the free Summer Fun season starting on 23 July until 4 September, while the whole family can enjoy National Barbecue Week at the venue, with some delicious burgers to try (30 May-5 June) and a chance to celebrate Father’s Day with a ‘Hot Dog’ ride in a two person inflatable or a white knuckle ride down the rapids on a raft. And not forgetting Rio, visitors to Lee Valley White Water Centre can celebrate the opening night of the Olympic Games by watching the ceremony on a big screen at the centre at midnight on 5 August after an exotic evening of live Brazilian music.

GETTING INTO SPORT There are also plenty of activities for those keen to try a variety of sports. At Lee Valley Athletics Centre in Edmonton, especially for children eager to sample throwing a javelin, jumping hurdles and clearing high jumps, there are regular popular sessions for little ones. Or for a sport with a difference, try FootGolf, available weekends and school holidays at Lee Valley Golf Course.

Take a stroll in the beautiful Myddelton House Gardens, created by Enfield’s famous resident Edward Augustus Bowles, and visit Waltham Abbey Gardens, thought to be King Harold’s last resting place and the neighbouring Dragonfly Sanctuary, where history, flora and fauna mingle in fascinating ways. Myddelton House Gardens at Bulls Cross, Enfield, is great for the little ones too, with a selection of fun activity booklets suitable for families, young children and school groups. Entry is free: gardens open: 10:00 - 17:00 or dusk if earlier); Bowles Tea Room and Museum: 10:00 - 16:00. With Lee Valley Regional Park stretching 26 miles along the River Lee from Ware in Hertfordshire to East India Dock Basin on the Thames, there’s plenty to explore, whether it’s wildlife-spotting, playing disc golf or just enjoying a picnic. Check out our events that take place in the park, from open air theatre and gardeners’ coffee mornings at Myddelton House Gardens to learning bushcraft skills and taking part in the free monthly guided walks led by Lee Valley Regional Park Rangers. For a chance to get away from it all, as well as over 30 walking routes, there are more than 20 cycle routes to try out in the Lee Valley.

From across London they converge at Capel Manor Gardens to show what they grow, from giant sunflowers to mini-gardens. Everything in the horticulture show, from King Edward potatoes to Bangladeshi gourds and even chickpeas, is grown in London. At the animal show, visitors can meet all creatures great and small, from big Shire horses to small ferrets and call ducks-all shown by young farmers clubs.www.capelmanorgardens.co.uk

Graham Linehan’s award winning black comedy tells the classic tale of a sweet but eccentric old lady, pitted against a crazy crew of bungling crooks. Professor Marcus and his gang of criminal misfits rent a room in the house of dear little Mrs Wilberforce posing as amateur musicians, and they plan to involve her unwittingly in their heist job. But Marcus suspects Mrs W. is becoming wise …. so they need to keep the old biddy quiet. With only her parrot to help her, she is alone with five desperate men…..! By special arrangement with Studio Canal and by special arrangement with Fiery Angel Ltd.
