Giselle A tragically romantic tale of a young girl who falls deeply in love and is soon deceived; for her lover was betrothed to another. Through despair and desperation the young girl kills herself as she could not live without him. Simon Weston; My Life, My Story It was the conflict of a generation and one that many will never forget. On the second of April 1982 Argentina invaded the Falklands Islands. In one of the most horrific moments of the conflict the RFA Sir Galahad was bombed by two Argentinian planes, aboard at the time was Simon Weston CBE. This was an event which would change his life forever. Against all the odds, Simon escaped the burning and buckled ship, but only after suffering 46% burns to his body. Now after his 2015 sell out UK tour Simon returns to the stage to share his incredible life story about one man’s journey from the front line of war, being on the edge of death, to today being a happy and contented father, grandfather and national treasure. Seussical the Musical Centre Stage returns to the Millfield Theatre following their hugely successful production of ‘The Wiz’ with ‘Seussical the Musical’. Tales from Enfield History Enfield in the time of Jane Austen As far as we know Jane Austen never visited Enfield but she is contemporaneous with Charles Lamb who has left us with an impression of the parish at the beginning of the 19th century. With the help of local histories, we can piece together an image of a village that Jane would have recognised.

Regency Dance In Austen’s fiction, as in many novels of the 19th century, the ball was the ultimate social occasion. Join us for a dance workshop with a difference as we step back in time to learn the popular dances of Jane Austen’s era as taught by an expert. Learn basic steps and figures for the longways country dances of the day, enjoy new waltzes and experience the uplifting music. Songs, airs and dances
from Jane Austen’s notebooks by Arne, Sophia Dussek, the Duchess of Devonshire and others Musical gatherings, dances, and private concerts are all referred to regularly by Jane Austen, and her extensive music collection contains songs, lessons and concertos from the mid-18th. century to the latest published dances. As well as numerous songs – some with versions for flute – there is a considerable amount of harp music, and Jane Austen is believed to have heard the renowned harpist Sophia Dussek play – and may even have played to her. Delve in Jane Austen’s notebooks with music performed by Musica Domestica (Sophia Brumfitt – Mezzo Soprano; William Summers – Flute; Taro Takeuchi – Harp–Lute; Guitar).

A Short Outdoor Landscape Drawing Course Indulge in the magic of drawing outdoors in natural light.
