WINTER 2015 NOVEMBER - MARCH 2016

EXHIBITION

Glassworks As an art form, stained glass reached its height in the Middle Ages when it was used to illustrate Biblical scenes to a largely illiterate audience. Stained glass windows have been a focal point for many significant buildings and Forty Hall, in fact, has its very own striking window on the east-side of the building. In this exhibition Debbie Dean from Art Start explores the art of stained glass with an impressive selection of beautiful stained glass images and sculptures. Debbie uses traditional methods of painting and firing new glass mixed with reclaimed antique glass to create vibrant artworks inspired by Victorian Gothic and Mexican Calavera. Look out for mythical animals and references to local history in the artworks and join one of Debbie’s workshops in December and January to learn how to create your own stained glass.
