Finally, Hassle-Free Home Ownership

THE VILLAGE COOPERATIVE OF FARGO IS NEARLY SOLD OUT

The Village Cooperative in Fargo is designed to provide a maintenance-free home ownership option to active adults (62+)— working or retired—in an independent, pleasant and secure living environment. With over 85% of the homes already sold, construction is well underway and slated to open at the end of the year.

Owner-members can select from a variety of spacious one bedroom and two bedroom layouts with no steps within in a three-story building built over secure underground parking. This community includes many amenities including a club and reading areas, community area with full kitchen, hobby shop, guest suite, garden plots, while-you’re-away services, underground heated parking with a car wash bay—all wrapped up in a fully secure building. The homes are equipped with all appliances including a washer and dryer, in-home storage, walk-in closets and individually controlled heating and cooling.

Because of the building design, ownership structure and prevailing attitude of the members, this senior housing option provides a lifestyle that lives very different from a single-family house, townhouse, condominium, senior apartment, or assisted living facility. The cooperative lifestyle gives each owner a standard of living, an involvement with others and a degree of comfort and security not found in other types of housing—all for a fraction of the price of a patio- or ranch-style home. Probably the greatest difference between life in cooperative housing and living in other housing options is the pride of ownership and community. Their attitudes reflect a sense of belonging and the underlying awareness of pleasant and secure living, reminiscent of the neighborhood where they lived and raised their families. For more information about cooperative living or the Village Cooperative of Fargo, please contact Janet at (701) 997-2900.

HOW TO CHOOSE A BARBECUE

Do you dream of cooking meals on the grill in your backyard or balcony but don’t yet have a barbecue? Here are some tips for choosing the right one.

1. Type. Propane barbecues are versatile, easy to use and quick to heat up. Charcoal or wood-burning barbecues impart delicious flavor but are more difficult to light and take longer to reach an optimal temperature. On the other hand, electric barbecues offer even heat distribution, except at low temperatures.

2. Material. Certain materials, like stainless steel, will ensure your barbecue has a long service life. If the appliance’s firebox is made of enameled cast iron, it should be at least an eighth of an inch thick. Remember that metal- or porcelain-coated steel grates are generally more difficult to clean.

3. Cooking surface. The size of the barbecue and the number of burners you need largely depend on what you’ll be grilling and how much of it. The larger the barbecue, the more energy it needs to reach the desired heat. If you often cook fish or white meat, it’s a good idea to look for a model with at least two independent burners. This gives you the option of not cooking directly over the flame.

4. Accessories. Some models come with additional accessories, such as a side burner (similar to a cooker), a sear burner (perfect for blue steaks) and a rotisserie for cooking on a spit.

The many criteria you consider when looking for the perfect barbecue are chiefly about how you plan to use the grill. Other elements to consider include your budget, the number of wheels, the ignition system and whether it has a built-in thermometer. Happy shopping!

Griswold Home Care of Fargo is awarded the distinguished 2023 Best of Home Care – Top 100 Leader in Experience Award from Home Care Pulse (HCP), the leading firm in experience management for home care. The Top 100 Leader in Experience Award is the highest recognition awarded by HCP and is only awarded to 100 home care businesses in North America. Recipients must consistently rank among the very highest in 10 or more quality metrics. As a Top 100 Leader in Experience Award recipient, Griswold Home Care of Fargo is recognized among the very best home care providers participating in the nationwide HCP Experience Management Program. Griswold Home Care of Fargo also received the following awards for the fourth year in a row:

• Leader in Experience

• Provider of Choice

• Employer of Choice

“We’re excited to congratulate Griswold Home Care of Fargo for their well-deserved achievements,” says Todd Austin, President of Home Care Pulse. “It’s wonderful to see the hard work these multiple franchise locations have put in to provide highquality care and employment – and their effort isn’t going unnoticed. These awards allow them to provide proof of quality to potential new clients and caregivers.”

This accomplishment demonstrates the Fargo offices’ long-term dedication to excellent care and quality improvement. To qualify for this award, 10% of each franchise’s clients and caregivers were interviewed by Home Care Pulse each month. Over a 12-month period, both the Fargo office received high client and caregiver satisfaction ratings in caregiver training, the compassion of caregivers, communication, scheduling, client/caregiver compatibility, and more. Using feedback from clients and employees and quality benchmarks from Home Care Pulse, the Fargo team set goals to provide the best possible experience.

The Leader in Experience award is the highest achievable recognition. It represents an elite group of 10% of home care agencies participating in the program and has proven that they provide quality

care across every satisfaction category measured. The Provider of Choice award is earned for the highest levels of client satisfaction, and the Employer of Choice award represents the highest levels of employee satisfaction.

“At Home Care Pulse, our mission is to help home care businesses create an experience beyond client and caregiver expectations,” says Todd Austin, President of Home Care Pulse. “When we see agencies like Griswold Home Care of Fargo that have effectively provided outstanding care and employment experiences, we know we’re on the right track. Have you thought about getting an electrically assisted bicycle?

Electrically assisted bicycles (EABs) are becoming increasingly popular, especially among older adults. They have a powerful battery that can cover long distances, battle the wind and climb steep slopes much better than a traditional bike.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Various EAB models may suit your needs depending on how you plan to use them. You can find mountain, road, hybrid and fat bikes with electric assist. Remember that hybrid models are ideal for city riding.

The bike’s battery power determines how far it can travel on a single charge. The greater the battery capacity, the greater the distance the bike can travel without you having to pedal. The range for most electrically assisted

bikes is between 19 and 112 miles. Maintaining an EAB is like caring for a regular bicycle, except you may need to have an expert check the electrical system from time to time.

SHOPPING TIPS

Electric bikes are often more expensive than their conventional counterparts. While some are more affordable, it’s essential to research the most reliable brands before making a choice.

Look for a model with the motor in the crankset for even weight distribution and a smooth ride. This also makes the rear wheel easy to change if you get a flat.

Some electric bicycles are specially designed for older people and include an ergonomic frame, seat and handlebars.

Visit your local store to find your new electric bike.

Strength training for seniors

Abalanced diet and exercise, which includes a combination of aerobic activities and strength training, is necessary to maintain long-term health.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, regular physical activity is one of the most important things older adults can do to protect their overall health. Exercise helps to delay or prevent many of the conditions that come with age. Adults ages 65 and older should aim for the recommended 150 minutes a week of moderateintensity activity, such as brisk walking, and at least two days of activities that strengthen muscles.

When it comes to muscle strengthening, seniors can follow these safety guidelines as they embark on their strength-training journeys.

• SPEAK WITH A HEALTHCARE PROVIDER FIRST.

Get the green light to proceed with an exercise regimen before beginning by having a discussion with your general practitioner

about your fitness goals. Your doctor can recommend strategies that are safe and point out any exercises that may compromise your overall health.

• MASTER BASIC EXERCISES FIRST.

Anyone new to strength training, which is sometimes known as resistance training, can start out slowly, even using just body weight, to provide resistance. Resistance exercises can include squats, crunches, modified pushups, planks, and lunges.

• GRADUATE TO RESISTANCE BANDS.

When you’re ready to move on to something else, consider resistance bands as an alternative to free weights. The bands can help you develop good form before introducing weight. Good form is key to avoiding injury.

• WORK WITH A TRAINER. Working with a certified personal trainer can help you learn how to use free weights and strength-training machines

correctly. A trainer also can create a routine that includes the right number of sets and repetitions to gradually build and maintain muscle mass. If you decide against hiring a trainer, gym staff members may guide you through equipment and demonstrate proper form.

• EXERCISE WITH A FRIEND. Strength training with a friend or family member can provide motivation and keep you on target to meet your goals.

• BUILD UP GRADUALLY. Your first strength session should only last 10 to 15 minutes, according to Tiffany Chag, C.S.C.S., a strength coach at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. This enables you to gauge soreness. Wait until soreness abates before beginning your next session if you are new to strength training.

Strength exercises are a vital part of maintaining health as a senior. Such exercises help maintain muscle mass and also improve balance and bone health.

Interesting facts about Alzheimer’s disease

Of the roughly 55 million people around the world living with dementia, 60 to 70 percent are estimated to have Alzheimer’s disease, reports the Mayo Clinic.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder marked first by mild memory loss that can worsen and lead to problems with communication and an inability to perform the activities of daily life. The condition is named for Dr. Alois Alzheimer. In 1906, Alzheimer noticed changes in the postmortem brain tissue of a woman who had died of unusual mental illness, which included symptoms of language problems, memory loss and unpredictable behavior. Her brain showed many abnormal clumps and tangled bundles of fibers. According to the National Institute on Aging, doctors now know those clumps are amyloid plaques and the tangles are hallmarks of the disease.

The National Institutes of Health says Alzheimer’s disease is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States and is the most common dementia among older adults. While most people are familiar with Alzheimer’s, there is much more anyone can learn. The following are some interesting facts about Alzheimer’s.

▶ The most common symptoms of Alzheimer’s involve a gradual decline in memory, reasoning, language, coordination, mood, and behavior.

▶ The Cleveland Clinic says the buildup of plaques and tangles from an overabundance of amyloid and tau protein production block the communication between nerve cells and cause brain cells to die, thus contributing to Alzheimer’s. Nerve cell death starts in the hippocampus, the area of the brain that controls memory. Doctors are not entirely sure what causes this protein build-up.

▶ Many times family members are the first to recognize a friend or loved one forgetting newly learned information, especially recent events, places and names.

▶ Issues with thinking and reasoning may include not wearing the right clothes for the weather or not knowing to use oven mitts when taking hot items out of the oven.

▶ Changes in the brain can begin years before initial symptoms appear, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Age is the biggest risk factor for Alzheimer’s. Researchers believe that genetics may play a role, but a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s does not make it an inevitability.

▶ A healthy lifestyle, which includes adequate physical activity, a nutritious diet, limited alcohol consumption, and not smoking, may help people avoid Alzheimer’s.

▶ Alzheimer’s can rob a person of his or her

personality. As the disease becomes more severe, mood swings, anger, depression, and anxiety may occur. This is combined with the patient forgetting who family members are and potentially lashing out or being disinterested in visitors.

▶ There is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but doctors use medical management to improve quality of life for patients and their caregivers. Treatments may help maintain brain health and manage behavioral symptoms.

Alzheimer’s disease was first diagnosed at the start of the 20th century. Now, 117 years later, it remains a major health issue affecting millions of people worldwide

Ella Borge moved into Eventide Senior Living Communities in 2014 at the age of 88.

Today, at 97, the mother of six, grandmother and great-grandmother many times over, Ella has called Eventide home for nine years and has continued to thrive year after year, thanks in part to our continuum of care model.

Ella’s son and primary care partner John Borge said he can’t think of a community better suited to his mother’s needs.

“When it came time to help Mom make the move, I had no doubt in my mind it would be Eventide,” John said. “We didn’t even look anywhere else. The care is fantastic.”

WHOLESOME CARE

Ella lived in the home she shared with her husband for 40 years before moving to Eventide. But a mix of overwhelm caused by house maintenance and Ella’s increasing mobility issues prompted the family to be proactive about the future.

At first, Ella moved into an apartment in the senior living community where she lived independently for a number of years. John has always been around to check in on his mother, and while many benefits stand out for them, he always comes back to the “wholesome” nature of Eventide’s continuum of care model.

“This place is nice. Really nice. In a wholesome way,” John said.

When choosing Eventide, the family wanted to be sure Ella had all the activities and independence she enjoyed while living on her own, but with the peace of mind that comes with elevated safety measures managed by professionals.

Ella spent — and still spends — a lot of her time in the wellness center working with physical and occupational therapists. It keeps her active and engaged in a way that she seems to really enjoy, according to John.

SUPPORTIVE CARE MODEL

A big part of Eventide’s continuum of care model is ensuring all residents live the lifestyle that is best suited to them. If a resident, for example, moves into independent living but later needs more physical assistance, it’s very easy to add

Eventide’s continuum of care means everything to John Borge and his mother Ella

services as needed.

Eventide’s continuum of care includes many different home environments, all which provide hospitality and wellness 24/7:

▶ Senior living apartments, offering independent and assisted living

▶ Transitional/ rehabilitation care

▶ Memory care

▶ Skilled nursing care

▶ Hospice and home care

SOCIAL LIFE AND ACTIVITIES

The Borge family also considered Ella’s personal living preferences, knowing she’d be happiest in a place where she could have her own space, but also socialize when she felt like it. Eventide has an activities calendar busting with opportunities to socialize, exercise and be creative. Residents can choose what they want to be involved in and when they’d rather just have a cup of coffee in their rooms.

MEMORY CARE

After suffering a stroke, Ella experienced cognitive issues that meant she’d thrive even more if she moved to Eventide’s memory care apartments, which is located within the same community she’d been used to living for years now.

“Being able to transition and stay within the community and go from assisted living to memory care to nursing care was huge,” John said. “It’s so nice it’s all here. The trauma of moving is a big deal, but to be able to just do that is so good.”

During her time in memory care, Ella and John often took advantage of the outdoor patio. “Mom would walk, walk, walk, and we’d get outside every chance we could. The patio area in the memory care apartments was a great place to get some fresh air,” John said. “It’s also much easier on her brain to picture moving from one space she’s familiar with to another space she’s familiar with, rather than moving to a whole different building. That would have just been confusing for her.”

TRANSITIONAL CARE

In her time at Eventide, Ella has experienced two strokes, which led her to times living in transitional care where she recovered and received physical and occupational therapy.

“On top of everything, when she needed transitional care, everyone has just been great. Mom never wants to be a hassle, she says, and never has a staff member ever made her feel like she’s asking for too much. They’re always cool as a cucumber,” John said.

Eventide’s transitional care community is designed to help people recover after illness or injury. People of all ages live with us temporarily while they heal from hip replacements, strokes and other life events that require higher levels of care. Rehabilitation is managed by our certified, licensed practitioners and focuses on getting people back to being the best they can be.

SKILLED NURSING

In March 2023, the family decided to move Ella from memory care to skilled nursing after she experienced another stroke that left her unable to walk for a time.

“Memory care was great, but I just noticed this difference. They’re always very good about checking on her in the

nursing area, “John said. “But no matter where she’s lived here, the staff, the CNAs, everyone is always so good.”

Since Ella moved into skilled nursing, she’s regained some of her walking abilities, thanks to physical therapy and a can-do attitude. Moreover, as Ella’s needs continue to change, John has peace of mind that his mother is safe and happy.

“I work and travel a lot, so when I’m going to be gone for five days at a time, it’s a comfort knowing the staff is here looking in on her,” he said.

Through it all, Ella’s attitude hasn’t changed. “She’s so likable and very pleasant. She’s great. She’s a horse!” John said. “And yes, the benefits of this place is being connected in that continuum of care, but it’s also peace of mind.”

PRODUCT DETAILS

Hardcover | $17.99

April 25, 2023 | 40 Pages

From the legendary Dolly Parton comes a story about her god-dog and Instagram personality, Billy the Kid, who is hoping to make it big as a country music star in Nashville, Tennessee.

French bulldog Billy the Kid was born with an ear for music. And not just any music. He loves barking to the beat of country music! So Billy sets out to Nashville to sing his heart out.

But when he meets some big bullies at the Battle of the Bow-wows, Billy worries he’s barking up the wrong tree. He’ll need his favorite songs (“Jowlene”

and “I Will Pawlways Love You,” of course), a group of scrappy new friends, and his favorite country music star to regain self-confidence and be the star he always knew he could be.

Written by Dolly Parton with Erica S. Perl and illustrated by MacKenzie Haley, this is a delightful picture book about standing up to people (and dogs) who put you down and finding the drive to achieve your dreams.

Simply Lies: A Psychological Thriller

PRODUCT DETAILS

Hardcover | $21.00

April 18, 2023 | 432 Pages

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The 6:20 Man comes a twisting new psychological thriller in which two women—one a former detective, the other a dangerous con artist—go head-tohead in an electrifying game of cat and mouse.

Mickey Gibson, single mother and former detective, leads a hectic life similar to that of many moms: juggling the demands of her two small children with the tasks of her job working remotely for ProEye, a global investigation company that hunts down wealthy tax and credit cheats.

When Mickey gets a call from a colleague named Arlene Robinson, she thinks nothing of Arlene’s unusual request for her to go inventory the vacant home of an arms dealer who cheated ProEye’s clients and fled. That is, until she arrives at the mansion to

discover a dead body in a secret room— and that nothing is as it seems.

Not only does the arms dealer not exist but the murder victim turns out to be Harry Langhorne, a man with mob ties who used to be in Witness Protection. What’s more, no one named Arlene Robinson works at ProEye.

In the blink of an eye, Gibson has become a prime suspect in a murder investigation—and now her job is also on the line until she proves that she was set up. Before long, Gibson is locked in a battle of wits with a brilliant woman with no name, a hidden past, and unknown motives—whose end game is as mysterious as it is deadly

Do you have to make a will?

As you get older, it’s normal to start thinking about your estate and getting your affairs in order. If you don’t already have a will, you may wonder whether you need one in the event of your death. The short answer is no. Nevertheless, a will is an essential document. Here’s why.

The specifics vary depending on the state, but generally, if you don’t have a will at the time of your death, the probate court will refer to local intestate succession laws to decide who receives your property. It may not be distributed exactly how you would choose. Usually, your spouse will receive a set amount before the remainder is divided among your children and other family members, if any exist.

A will is important because it allows you to decide how your assets will be divided among your heirs. Specifically, you indicate who inherits what and who’ll

Memorial Day: the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, honoring all who have died in service to the United States. It takes place annually on the last Monday in May and includes commemorative traditions like services, parades, speeches and flag ceremonies. Thousands of people choose to observe the day by visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Supreme Court justices, astronauts and other public servants, including more than 400,000 military personnel, veterans and their immediate families.

act as an executor.

There are four types of wills in the United States: simple, testamentary trust, joint and living. Consult a lawyer to learn the differences and determine the best type for you.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a neoclassical, white marble sarcophagus, stands atop a hill overlooking Washington, D.C. It’s located in Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for numerous presidents,

The Tomb began as a resting place for one unknown service member from World War I, and today it’s the grave of three unidentified service members. It serves as a symbolic grave for all fallen service members whose remains haven’t been found or identified. It also serves as a place of mourning and a site for reflection on military service.

A sentinel has been on duty in front of the Tomb every minute of every day since 1937, ensuring the

Unknown Soldiers forever rest with dignity and honor.

On Memorial Day, a national ceremony is held at the Tomb with nearly 5,000 people in attendance. The president typically delivers an address. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

This Memorial Day, look for a service in your area to pay your respects to service members who have fought and died while serving the United States of America.

While retirement has plenty of perks, it can also cause a decline in self-confidence. This change can be brought on by a shift in your social status, a decrease in your physical abilities or a feeling of no longer being beneficial to society. Here are four ways to help you regain your self-esteem and improve your psychological and physical health.

1. Have a positive view of old age. Society tends to put a negative spin on old age. Make sure you create your own positive view of aging.

2. Try new things. Instead of complaining about what you can no longer do, improve your self-confidence by trying new things. You’re still capable of taking on exciting challenges.

3. Give back. Research shows that social participation has a substantial impact on self-esteem. Developing relationships with others can give your life meaning and make you feel useful, recognized and valued.

4. Move your body daily. Being physically active helps you maintain your independence, which promotes self-esteem. Never stop learning and get out of your comfort zone whenever possible, as long as it’s safe to do so.

Have you developed a negative view of yourself since retiring and found it challenging to regain confidence? Talk to a healthcare professional.

The value of hobbies is undeniable. A 2014 study published in the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology found that employees who engaged in creative hobbies outside of work were more creative on work projects and had a better attitude on the job, while a separate study published in Psychosomatic Medicine in 2009 reported that individuals who engaged in enjoyable leisure activities had lower blood pressure and a smaller waist circumference.

The myriad benefits of hobbies is good news for seniors, many of whom have ample time for leisure activities. Whether seniors are retired or still working but free from the responsibilities of parenting, the following are some fun and engaging hobbies to fill that free time.

▶ Cooking: Years spent hustling

Engaging hobbies for seniors

and bustling through the daily grind of personal and professional obligations might have forced individuals to embrace cooking that emphasized convenience over culinary skill. Now that there’s more time to embrace one’s inner Emeril, seniors can look to cooking classes or take the selftaught route and purchase a new cookbook filled with delicious recipes. A well-cooked homemade meal can provide a sense of accomplishment and affords seniors an opportunity to control the ingredients in the foods they eat, which can be important for individuals with health-related dietary restrictions.

▶ Writing: Many successful individuals have penned their memoirs after long, notable careers and lives. While individuals needn’t follow suit with the goal of making their memoirs public, writing can be a great way for seniors to document

their own lives and the lives of their families. Interest in genealogy has risen considerably in recent years, as easily accessible websites like Ancestry.com and 23andMe.com have made it easier than ever for individuals to learn where they came from. Seniors can contextualize the information provided by genealogy websites by writing about their personal experiences and sharing what they know about the lives of their parents, siblings, grandparents, and other family members.

▶ Gardening: Seniors looking for hobbies that get them out in the great outdoors need look no further than their own backyards. Gardening can benefit the body in myriad ways. According to the Mayo Clinic Health System, gardening can burn as many calories as working out in the gym. In addition, the MCHS notes that individuals who grow their own

fruits and vegetables are more likely to include those foods in their own diets, thus saving them money at the grocery store and also increasing their intake of nutrient-rich foods.

▶ Swimming: Swimming is an ideal exercise for seniors, as it’s low-impact but still a great way to utilize the entire body. A 2007 study published in the journal Quality of Life Research found that water-based exercise improves older adults’ quality of life and decreases disability. A separate study published in 2008 in The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness found that waterbased exercise can improve or help to maintain bone health in postmenopausal women.

These are just a few of the many hobbies seniors can pursue as they look for positive and fun ways to spend their free time.

EAT LOCAL BERRIES AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY

Summer: THE SEASON FOR REFRESHING DESSERTS!

Berry season is the perfect time to stock up and indulge in all your favorites. With strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and other delicious varieties, there are plenty of options to inspire your daily menu.

BREAKFAST

Cereal, oatmeal, toast and bagels all pair perfectly with a handful of fruit, whether they’re sliced, whole or preserved. Making pancakes or waffles? Syrup, whipped cream, custard and chocolate sauce complement berries brilliantly.

LUNCH

Dare to be different by including blackberries or strawberries in your salads. Add goat cheese and blueberries to

your grilled chicken sandwich, or use berries to brighten up your salmon poke bowl.

DINNER

Enjoy finger foods like raspberries with cream cheese on crackers or tuna and strawberry tartare. Bruschetta and spring rolls are other ways to include these sweet treats in your meal.

SNACKS

Whole berries are delicious when eaten plain, and you can add them to yogurt or include them in your go-to granola bar or muffin recipe. Adding dehydrated fruit to some homemade trail mix adds a delicious pop of flavor.

BEVERAGES

If you have lots of berries,

consider turning them into juice and smoothies. You can also freeze them to use as tasty ice cubes in your summer drinks.

DESSERTS

Berries work with nearly any sweet recipe. Chocolate fondues, upside-down cakes, pies, cookies, popsicles, sorbets — the list goes on.

Visit a fruit stand, U-pick or farmers’ market in your area today to get your berry fill!

The heat of summer and all its pleasant activities often put you in the mood for refreshing desserts. Want to try your hand at making some delicious homemade desserts to help you survive the hot weather? Here are some ideas to inspire you.

Ice cream sundaes

Use local or exotic fruits to create fresh ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt. Mango, raspberries, lemon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and blueberries are great options. You can also opt for classic flavors, such as chocolate and vanilla, or get creative by using edible flowers and fragrant herbs like lavender and mint. Top it all off with granola, chocolate shavings, nuts, fruit coulis, caramel sauce or maple syrup.

Fruity delights

Let your imagination run wild and have fun concocting fruity pies that pair perfectly with a dollop of ice cream. Layer jam, custard, whipped cream and chopped fruit on a delicious, sweet pastry. Mousse cakes, pavlovas and panna cottas are other tasty options you can make with the fruit of your choice.

Unique treats

Enjoy ice cream in a new way by making a bite-sized Japanese dessert called mochi or assembling a cake roll. You could also make oversized ice cream sandwiches by placing your favorite flavor of ice cream between two giant chocolate chip cookies. When it comes to dessert drinks, slushies and milkshakes are also irresistible options.

Many restaurants, snack bars and creameries offer a wide variety of frozen and refreshing desserts. Indulge your appetite this summer!
