FosterClub Connect Your gateway to connecting with young people for the National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) The phenomenon of social networks on the internet has demonstrated how technology provides new and highly effective tools which keep people connected. It’s made it possible to network and communicate in ways not previously imagined. We’ve harnessed this power and now allow state foster care programs to access young people through FosterClub.com.

Take a peer-led approach to build NYTD buy-in
FosterClub’s outreach materials are built for youth and designed to be delivered by youth. We believe a peer-to-peer approach is the strongest strategy to build buy-in among foster youth for participation in the NYTD survey.

Survey delivery. Subscribers may choose to use fosterclub.com as an entry portal (link to an external survey), or use FosterClub’s built-in survey functionality. If FosterClub Connect will serves as the survey delivery vehicle. Data is then securely transmitted for upload to the State on a regular basis. Survey features include: • May be accessed by registered or anonymous users • Flexible, customizable (add your own questions or specific questions from NYTD Plus) • E-mail notification every time a user completes a survey • Data download options include CSV, XML, other standard data formats
NYTD will be easily accessed from FosterClub.com’s front page. A gateway page will direct users to the correct survey and will provide youth-friendly information about NYTD.

Safe social networking. FosterClub.com is designed with special features which allow the site to leverage social networking features while providing extra layers of security in consideration of a foster youth population: Customizable avatars instead of photos represent users across the site No off-site connections (messages can not include e-mail addresses, phone numbers, or physical addresses. Registered members have the ability to post to the site instantly and are screened post-posting. Messages posted by anonymous users are screened prior to being published.
Profile access.
Connect subscribers, with a FosterClub members’ permission, can access profile information. Profiles may contain information that would serve as useful in locating a youth after they transition from foster care.
Spread the word.
Information posted by your state to FosterClub.com can be easily shared across social networks such as Facebook or Digg, or can be forwarded through e-mail.
Future development plans include the ability to provide points for completing a NYTD survey, which users could cash in for digital rewards like ringtones, screen-savers, e-books or “bling” for their avatars.

Outreach. Automated communica�ons.
FosterClub will send automated reminders to registered members on their 17th, 19th and 21st birthdays that it’s time to take the NYTD survey. FosterClub also maintains a perpetual communications connection to members with regular eNewsletters and automated alerts. Subsribers can send on-demand announcements to members from your state.
Outreach materials.
FosterClub makes a library of professionally designed youth-friendly outreach materials available for download to Subscribers. Materials include branded items and photography of young leaders from foster care. Items such as printed materials can be ordered for an additional cost.
Peer-led workshop
A facilitators guide and Powerpoint presentation designed to be delivered by young people can help your state’s youth advisory boards or young leaders to spread the word about NYTD and build youth buy-in and understanding about the survey. FosterClub can provide a training-of-trainers session or live presentation (additional cost).
Track progress.
Gauge how well you are doing at engaging your community through the use of Google’s sophisticated analytics tools.
