ways to keep you engaged; you, the readers, are free to engage with us or to reject us.

Let us introduce ourselves: we are the team behind Fresh Off The Rail Streetwear Fashion Week. Beginning with the May issue we will learn from one another what a streetwear magazine is and what it can be, in our always changing new world of fashion.

There is a story in this month issue that we particularly like because it highlights streetwear and street style photographs from all over the world. The very talented Shahed Khan of Heff Photography located in the United Kingdom; is one of the UK’s emerging photographers for streetwear. Interviewing Heff led us to create the core of the FOTR magazine; STREETWEAR NATION. Here we collab with photographers around the globe as they capture streetwear images in the cities and countries they reside. It is our goal to grow the streetwear nation segment of FOTR magazine to 25 percent of the content seen each issue.

Let us begin by saying that we are fashion and trend junkies. Decades ago we all can remember first absorbing fashion images and stories by flipping through trend magazines. Now later assigning and editing our own publication we really believe that no matter whether a magazine is delivered to your doorstep or to your computer, printed on glossy stock or on cheap tabloid paper, appearing on your iPad or your cell-phone screen, it is still and foremost the work of an editorial team. FOTR Magazine is about trust, fashion and partnership: We, the editors, will strive al-

We thank each and every one of our supporters and look forward to this journey. we have eagerly embarked upon.

L I F E A F T E R A M E R I C A’ S N E X T T O P M O D E L FOTR: Why did you decide to choose modeling as a career? Khrys: Just rolled into it. I didn’t see myself being a model. I neither thought my body or face matched the beauty standards. But somehow fate worked out in the favor of turning me into a curve model. FOTR: What was your favorite part of being a cast member of ANTM? Khrys: Well, Everything. You enter into a world almost completely independent from the world as you know it. I had to pre-pay months in advance of my rent, which was hard but I knew I wouldn’t be able to be in touch with my landlord during the show. In fact, we weren’t in touch with anyone. As soon as we get there we don’t worry about rent, food or bills. All we have to do is give our 100% best being authentically ourselves and compete. We had amazing catering, many choices always. Friendships I was able to create. I grew as a person and as a model. Liked it a lot. I learned to be more confident too. FOTR: Define Khrystyana in five words? Khrys: Bubbly Deep Goofy Open-minded Watermelonizer FOTR: Does Tyra still play the big sister role in your career/life now? Khrys: I know Tyra keeps her eye on her antm’ers. Occasionally we would check in with each other. I know she wants all of us to succeed. And actually, remembering that I have her as my personal cheerleader, motivates me to keep going. I tried to give up ... a lot. FOTR: Do you have any advice for young models entering the industry? Khrys: To new models out there I want to say few things. Some words you might not like. First of all, don’t let your excuses be the reason why you don’t follow your dream. If you want something, you are going to pursue it, otherwise you don’t really want it so own up to your truth. Very important. Secondly, study your craft. Study, like your life depends on it, like it’s a full-time job, not a moment you want to experience. But if modeling is just a moment you want to experience; “I just want to be on a cover” then own that truth too. You don’t really want to model, because modeling is hard, modeling is sweat, modeling is dealing with way more rejections than acceptances and still wanting every minute of it. Lastly, study fashion history, study current trends when it comes to poses, style, photos and facial expressions etc. and predict what’s coming next and lead the way. Predict the potential futures. Being a full time model is worth fighting for if this is what you want it to be fought for with hard work. If you want it the world is yours.

Fresh Off The Rail STREETWEAR FASHION WEEK

In recent years streetwear fashion has become the largest category in the industry. Fresh Off The Rail decided to use fashion as a tool to promote a cultural exchange between youth, entrprenuers, the streetwear industry and consumers. As a result our fashion week was created with the goal of providing a platform for not only local Hoston talent but globally. Fresh Off The Rail Streetwear Fashion Week is is a 5-day streetwear fashion week celebrating the convergence of culture, creativity, innovation in the heart of downtown Houston. Designers, retailers, up-and-coming creators and fashion influencers share their art and vision with the city of Houston. All events for FOTR take place at a venue within close proximity of the Metro rail platform. This allows the events to become a cultural exchange, which gives Houstonians and visitors the opportunity to travel and explore new communities. Event activities include runway shows, presentations and art showcases. FOTR Fashion Week is now a global platform for the streetwear fashion market and is the largest streetwear fashion week in the U.S. Heading into its 5th season FOTR Fashion Week expects to keep growing and collaborating with others committed to their vision. SEASON 4 Fresh Off The Rail recently held its fourth season of Streetwear Fashion Week in downtown Houston from March 6 – 10, 2019. This season FOTR featured several out of state brands as a result of the ever growing response they’ve received throughout the U.S. The Fresh Off The Rail Fashion Week took place at Houston venues located near the city rail lines from the East-end area thru Midtown. The opening reception and street art mixer were held at Arka Art Gallery off Main St. Up and coming Houston based brand Stuck Up Girl and HAVOC all the way from Michigan kicked off the week with a packed house full of media, inspiring models, designers and supporters. The rest of the week brought out many supporters, fashion industry influencers and celebrities. FOTR: What is FWO? Pablo: Fashion Week Online is a hub for information and opportunities relating to fashion weeks from all over the world. As a news organization, we don’t waste time with celebrity silliness: our mission is to discover and help the next generation of designers. FOTR: How and why did you create the platform FWO? Pablo: Fashion week information was hard-to-impossible for the general public to find. Our mission is to break down the walls that surround the fashion “in crowd,” and create a party where everyone gets a chance.

FOTR: Who is the man Pablo Starr? Pablo: One part ghost, one part human being.

FOTR: Was fashion always a interest for you? Pablo: No, I am a musician. I stumbled upon fashion by accident. One fateful day my band played at a fashion show in Los Angeles. I asked the organizer, an FCI fashion student, if we could put on some more shows together, mainly to bring people to see my band. So we built a fashion brand called Bright Lights LA that put on fashion shows around LA. FOTR: What advice you would give fashion-preneurs who are following FWO’s path? Pablo: Work it. Serve others. Get the BEST photos you can of your collection: this is key. Then submit them to us. If we don’t run them, keep improving your craft, and keep trying! WE are your cheerleaders.

FOTR: Any upcoming projects or changes planned for FWO? Pablo: Yes, some huge things, but it will be a couple of years at least before they start coming together.

Streetwear Nation What does streetwear mean to you? A writer from Inverse Culture states, “Streetwear fashion is contemporary, usually casual clothing that is worn by urban youth subcultures. That definition is vague as streetwear is an all-encompassing umbrella of styles & themes - similar in vein as the hip-hop genre is to music”. That being said, have you ever wondered how street style looks around the world? What are the cultural influences and similarities the street wear nation have in common? In order to capture the art, fashion, lifestyle and the culture of streetwear we have partnered with photographers from around the globe to get their perspective on street wear through their images. From China, Tokyo, Europe and the U.S. we have you covered. .

HT G I L T O P ER S H P a RA G OTO H P R A E STREET W LONDON STREETWEAR FOTR: What’s your background? How long have you been shooting? How did you venture into street style? Heff: I started shooting photography in September 2018. It was an impulse buy after enjoying content front my favourite YouTuber Peter McKinnon. I shared the same rush watching his content as I do now for photography. I’ve always enjoyed browsing and checking out streetwear fits. I think there’s a lot that can be said for the adversity and diversity of streetwear style FOTR: So what area of the UK do you represent? Heff: I’m based in East London but I’m open to trying my best to represent all of the UK. But in the meantime I’m trying to find more content spread throughout all of London FOTR How’s the Streetwear scene in the UK? Heff: Funny enough I can’t comment too much on the scene of the streetwear. As a new enthusiast into photography has my passion for streetwear grown. At the moment I’ve learned a lot at how diverse it is and being able to capture different approaches to streetwear. FOTR: Where do you get your inspiration from? Heff: I find a lot of inspiration from learning about the more technical aspects oh photography and wanting to find people I can work with who have a unique style. FOTR: What brand or model would you like to capture? Heff: I’m very into my product photography with mainly trainers. So because of that I’d really like the opportunity to work with a brand such as Nike or Adidas. FOTR: What’s your favorite Streetwear brand and how would you describe their style? Heff: I try to keep my version of streetwear minimal however I like Champion the most. I like the minimal appeal but at the same time an eye catching logo.
