Elkem is already supplying products based on circular economy to the global market, such as Microsilica, a former by-product now key to some of the world’s tallest buildings and longest bridges. Elkem is also currently participating in a project with the potential of reducing the carbon footprint of silicones by more than 65 percent through chemical recycling. “Our stakeholders expect Elkem to be a leader on climate, and this climate roadmap sets out bold ambitions and actions. At the same time, Elkem is dependent on our stakeholders to enable a successful green transition: We need customer demand for green solutions, we need attractive framework conditions and we need world-class competence and innovation. We hope this roadmap is seen as an invitation to work with Elkem in making a difference across our industry and beyond,” says Aasen. ■

The Lawton Standard Co. adds QESC, buoying casting growth strategy 劳顿标准公司收购QESC公司,支持铸造业务发展战略 The Lawton Standard Co. recently added the facilities and employees of QESC (Quality Electric Steel Castings, Houston, Texas) to its growing casting business. The new site will operate as a sister operation to The C.A. Lawton Co., De Pere, Wisconsin; The C.A. Lawton Co., Minster, Ohio; Temperform, LLC, Novi, Michigan; and Penn-Mar Castings, LLC, Hanover, Pennsylvania. Each company will access the other’s products and benefit from adopting best practices across the family. “We are proud to bring more options––steel, iron, and more––to our customers and prospects,” said Alex Lawton, CEO of The Lawton Standard Co. “Having a location in Texas will provide a logistical advantage beyond our original reach.” Barry Adamski, president and COO at Lawton Standard Co., added, “Many jobs will be maintained or restored in Houston. The users and buyers of compatible castings will have additional options, and we continue to grow our business, a nice set of wins. Our team there, including new site manager Dennis Michels, transition manager Devin Galimore, and many others from both organizations, has me really excited about the prospects.” The former QESC was formed in 1948 as a privately held corporation. Over the years, it grew its capacity from 35 tons per month to over 1,000. ■
