Grede’s e-mobility emphasis begins with the formation of an e-mobility sales director position, which the company asserted will strengthen its concentration on and penetration into the electrification market, while allowing Grede to leverage existing resources for traditional brands. Additionally, Grede is positioned to expand its casting solutions for the new EV market, including through production of key products such as knuckles, control arms, differential cases, covers, and housings.

The company has promoted three of its staff to support its current customer base as they transition into the electric vehicle market while cultivating new business with emerging electrification companies.
Christopher Connors has been named director of e-mobility, tasked with helping Grede align electric powertrain technologies with the goals of its clients. He will play a key role in positioning Grede to capture an uptick in EV demand across the automotive and industrial sectors.
Justin Milus has been promoted to director of sales–commercial vehicles. In his new role, he will focus on building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with Grede’s customers while partnering with them to better understand their business objectives and needs.
Jefferey Brodnik is now Grede’s senior account manager–automotive, serving as a trusted point of contact for automotive customers, analyzing their businesses to identify strengths, weaknesses and new opportunities while working to generate new business. ■

AFS Corporate Member Farrar Corporation will be installing a new molding line this spring to increase capacity and improve efficiency at its ductile iron sand casting operation in Norwich, Kansas.
The $3.7 million investment also includes replacing the General Kinematics Vibradrum with a GK media drum. The new molding line is the FBO-IIIS 20 x 24 from Robert Sinto Corporation and will provide the foundry a faster mold cycle, deeper draw, and reduced maintenance costs. The investment is part of a phased approach to make more castings with tighter quality and process controls.
In 2020, Farrar installed a new 2500KW Inductotherm coreless induction furnace to replace its 1850 KW furnace, which added about 1 ton/hour melt capacity. This past year, the company also purchased two DMG-Mori NTX 5-axis CNC machining centers for its machine shop in Norwich.
Future plans for the company include replacing additional aging molding machines, adding core capacity, and bringing on more CNC machines. ■
