Rallying around our rallies
W
ŝƚŚ ŽƵƌ ĐŽƵŶƚƌLJ͛Ɛ ƌĞƐƉŽŶƐĞ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ Covid-19 pandemic moving to the ŶĞdžƚ ƉŚĂƐĞ͕ /͛ŵ ĚĞůŝŐŚƚĞĚ ƚŽ ƐĞĞ our Areas and Special Interest Groups (SIGS) are ĂŐĂŝŶ ŚĂǀŝŶŐ ƚŚĞ ĐŽŶĮĚĞŶĐĞ ƚŽ ƉůĂŶ ƚŚĞŝƌ rallies. /Ĩ LJŽƵ ĐŚĞĐŬ ŽƵƚ ƚŚĞ &ƵƚƵƌĞ ZĂůůŝĞƐ ůŝƐƟŶŐƐ ŝŶ this issue of The Motor Caravanner you will ĮŶĚ Ă ŚƵŐĞ ůŝƐƚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞƐĞ ƐŽĐŝĂů ŐĂƚŚĞƌŝŶŐƐ ƚŚĂƚ ĞǀĞƌLJŽŶĞ͛Ɛ ŝŶǀŝƚĞĚ to. / ƵŶĚĞƌƐƚĂŶĚ ƚŚĂƚ ƌĂůůŝĞƐ ĂƌĞŶ͛ƚ ĞǀĞƌLJŽŶĞ͛Ɛ ĐƵƉ of tea, but for my husband Chris and I they have always been a big part of our enjoyment of our membership. ZŝŐŚƚ ĨƌŽŵ ƚŚĞ ƟŵĞ ŽƵƌ ĐŚŝůĚƌĞŶ ǁĞƌĞ ďĂďŝĞƐ ǁĞ͛ǀĞ ĨŽƵŶĚ ƌĂůůŝĞƐ ƚŽ ďĞ Ă ŐƌĞĂƚ ƉůĂĐĞ ƚŽ ŵĞĞƚ and make friends with fellow members. In ĨĂĐƚ͕ ƐŽŵĞ ŽĨ ŽƵƌ ŵŽƐƚ ůŽŶŐͲůĂƐƟŶŐ ĨƌŝĞŶĚƐŚŝƉƐ started at rallies.

ƚ ƚŚĞ Ɖƌŝů ŽĂƌĚ ŵĞĞƟŶŐ ŝŶ WĂŝŚŝĂ ƚŚĞ ĂĐĐŽƵŶƚƐ ĨŽƌ ƚŚĞ ĮǀĞ ŵŽŶƚŚƐ ended February 2022 were presented. dŚĞ ƐƐŽĐŝĂƟŽŶ ŝƐ ƉĞƌĨŽƌŵŝŶŐ ĂƐ ĨŽůůŽǁƐ͕ ƌĞƉŽƌƟŶŐ ĨŽƌ ƚŚĞ ƉĞƌŝŽĚ Ă ďĞĨŽƌĞ ƚĂdž ƐƵƌƉůƵƐ ŽĨ $1,365,000 – some $496,000 ahead of budget. Income was $161,000 ahead of budget due to above budget membership fees ($99,000) and above budget property income ($118,000), while commissions and interest were below budget by $66,000. Expenditure was reported as below budget by $335,000, primarily due ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ƟŵŝŶŐ ŽĨ ĞdžƉĞŶĚŝƚƵƌĞ ďĞŝŶŐ ĚŝīĞƌĞŶƚ ƚŽ that budgeted. /Ŷ ƐƉŝƚĞ ŽĨ ƚŚŝƐ ƉŽƐŝƟǀĞ ƌĞƐƵůƚ ƐŽ ĨĂƌ ĨŽƌ ϮϬϮϮ͕ there is expected to be some pressure placed

You may have recently read in the media that printer Ovato had closed its doors in New Zealand. This is an issue for the NZMCA as they are the printers of our magazine and Travel ŝƌĞĐƚŽƌLJ͘ KǀĂƚŽ͛Ɛ ĐůŽƐƵƌĞ ŵĞĂŶƐ ƚŚĞƌĞ ŝƐ ŽŶůLJ ŽŶĞ printer locally that can print our magazine ĂŶĚ ŚĂƐ ƌĞƐƵůƚĞĚ ŝŶ Ă ƐŝŐŶŝĮĐĂŶƚ ŝŶĐƌĞĂƐĞ ŝŶ ƚŚĞ ƉƌŽĚƵĐƟŽŶ ĐŽƐƚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ŵĂŐĂnjŝŶĞ͘ ĚĚŝƟŽŶĂůůLJ͕ E WŽƐƚ ŚĂƐ ĂĚǀŝƐĞĚ ƚŚĂƚ ƚŚĞ ĚŝƐƚƌŝďƵƟŽŶ ĐŽƐƚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ŵĂŐĂnjŝŶĞ ŝƐ ĂůƐŽ ŐŽŝŶŐ ƚŽ ƐƵďƐƚĂŶƟĂůůLJ increase. I am sure you have also read about other
pressures being placed on the economy and ƌĞƐƵůƟŶŐ ŝŶ ĐŽƐƚ increases. Both the management team and Board are reviewing these areas of exposure and looking ƚŽ ŵŝƟŐĂƚĞ ƚŚĞ ŝŵƉĂĐƚ ŽĨ ĂŶLJ ƐƵĐŚ increases. WůĞĂƐĞ ďĞ ĂƐƐƵƌĞĚ ƚŚĞ ƐƐŽĐŝĂƟŽŶ ŝƐ ŝŶ Ă ŐŽŽĚ ĮŶĂŶĐŝĂů ƉŽƐŝƟŽŶ͖ ŚŽǁĞǀĞƌ ƚŚĞ ƐƵƌƉůƵƐĞƐ ŽĨ ƉƌŝŽƌ LJĞĂƌƐ ĂƌĞ ŶŽƚ ĞdžƉĞĐƚĞĚ ƚŽ ĐŽŶƟŶƵĞ ŝŶ ƚŚĞ coming year(s) as we recover from Covid-19. dŚĞ ŶĞdžƚ ŽĂƌĚ ŵĞĞƟŶŐ ŝƐ ŝŶ dĂƵƉŽ ŝŶ :ƵŶĞ where I look forward to ŵĞĞƟŶŐ LJŽƵ ŝĨ LJŽƵ ĐĂŶ ŵĂke it.
