FROM THE

General Manager

O

Dear Members,

UR TEAM ALONG WITH THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS are dedicated and committed to providing you with a wonderful “Club Experience”. We will continue to do this by enhancing the relationships between our Members, Guests, Four Seasons Employees and the Community with our amenities, programming, and services. This is at the forefront of everything we do and the decisions we make. I am very excited to work with our great team, the dedicated Board of Governors, and all of the committees, to build more traditions and life long memories for you and your families! In 2018 we are striving to improve the Club by providing value, excitement, and FUN! There are a lot of new, value added events in the coming months and we don’t want you to miss out! Be sure to keep an eye out for messages from the Memberships Services team, as they are working hard to keep your calendars full. If you have not downloaded the private app for our Club please do so. You can find detailed directions on the website or simply type in four seasons members club and find the app for your smartphone. This app is a great way to stay informed about Club events, make reservations and find up to date information on Club programming. The great thing is you only need to sign-in one time every 365 days. We would like to give a major thank you and Congratulations to Anthony Williams and our Golf Course Maintenance team, as they have been recognized by the Professional Grounds Management Society in receiving their exclusive Grand Award for a high-quality golf course that is also environmentally sound. The PGMS said: “The native grasses, lush turf mixtures, wild flowers, and water features create an environmentally friendly golf course but also provide a space that transcends the game of golf.” We have experienced exceptional course conditions from Anthony and his team throughout the winter months and look forward to a great 2018. As we continue to improve your experience at Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club, I would like to reiterate the importance of our Club rules and regulations. These are designed to help us in our commitment to excellence. As a gentle reminder, our Four Seasons Employees are trained to uphold the policies set forth by our Board of Governors and Club Management. Please make sure you and your guest follow these policies to ensure an enjoyable experience for yourself and the entire Club Membership. We are privileged to have so many Members and Employees who consider Four Seasons their “home away from home”. It is my hope that we will all take ownership in our Club as we are continuously upgrading and reinventing the Club to improve the experience for you and your guests. With our great camaraderie, hospitality, policies, and constant improvement, we can make Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club the best it has ever been. In closing, we appreciate your support and for choosing Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club as your home. We look forward to a great 2018 and promise to strive in making your membership experience the best it can be. If you ever have feedback, concerns or just want to chat – my door is always open. In 2017, world champion was added

The property excelled in water conservation, wildlife habitat management, integrated pest management, staff training and agronomic innovations. Golf Superintendent Earns Top Environmental Leader Honor LAST YEAR, ANTHONY WILLIAMS MOVED HIS FAMILY FROM GEORGIA TO TEXAS to become Director of Golf Course Maintenance and Landscape Operations at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. He, along with the entire Golf Maintenance and Landscape Team, has been named the 2017 National Private Course and Overall winner in the Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards, a program co-sponsored each year by Golf Digest and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Williams, a 21-year Member of GCSAA, is the only “triple crown” winner of the ELGAs, having also won the National Resort award while at Renaissance PineIsle Resort and Golf Club in Sugar Hill, Georgia. For more than 30 years Anthony worked for Marriott International, with his last position as Director of Grounds for Marriott International, Marriott Golf. A few of his career milestones include winning Marriott’s highest honor the J.W. Marriott Award of Excellence and winning Marriott Golf’s Grounds Manager of the Year award twice in two different brands (Renaissance, Marriott). He has developed and sustained cutting edge environmental programs for golf courses and hotels throughout his career, receiving many awards to include the GCSAA President’s Award for Environmental Stewardship in 2010.

Anthony L. Williams Golf Superintendent

According to Williams, his upbringing on the family farm in Indian Creek, Georgia, set the stage for his environmentally focused career. “I’m part Cherokee, that was my upbringing – take care of the land, the land will take care of you. I don’t remember not having that as a part of my professional DNA. I want to show that, as superintendents, we want to create memorable golf,” Williams says. “But how much more special is it when you have those amazing encounters with nature and wildlife?” An accomplished writer and speaker, Anthony is also the Environmental Editor for Golfdom magazine and is involved in numerous environmental, service and philanthropic activities.

Golf NEW FOR 2018 - PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE PGA Jr. League is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Our juniors will compete against three JUNIOR GOLF other private clubs in the area. Each team will consist of 12-16 players playing 6 nine-hole matches during the season. Each match will consist of two players from each team playing against another team in a scramble format. The season will be from March through May. If you are interested in signing up, please email Jack Daneshmand at jack. daneshmand@fourseasons.com

Srixon Golfer of the Year Cindy Higby, and Murray Kawchuk

Is it time for new clubs? As we start to approach the spring season this would be a great time to check the size of your juniors clubs. Improper length clubs can have an effect on how well your child is able to strike the ball. Here at the club we use the US Kids Golf color system for clubs. Please reach out to Jack Daneshmand about making sure your child's clubs are the correct length. 2nd Annual Drive, Chip and Putt On March 25th, we will host the 2nd Annual Drive, Chip and Putt here at the Four Seasons! Last year we had 35 of our Members participate in the skills challenge. This event is a great opportunity for any of our juniors who are thinking of competing in the local qualifiers in the DFW area. One of our Members, Dylan Knox, successfully qualified for the finals of the Drive, Chip and Putt at Augusta National the Sunday before the Masters, April 1st. This event will be televised on the golf channel Sunday morning. Dylan Knox

Come out and participate to test your skills. Jack Daneshmand, PGA Head Golf Instructor/Junior Golf Coordinator 972-717-2590 • jack.daneshmand@fourseasons.com

Keep it Simple at the Net

By Andra Cornea FS Tennis Professional Hitting that winning shot down the line does look and feel good, but at the end of the day the person who hits more balls in the court will win, no matter how pretty or ugly it might be. Challenge yourself to hit 3 to 5 balls over the net before doing anything crazy or going for the outright winner!

Meet Dr. Kelly Hernandez Dr. Hernandez and her family have been members of the Club since May 2017. She has a local Airrosti practice, a therapy which helps prevent and heal ailments and injury. During a recent New Member Orientation Kelly met Jerome Millet, our Head Tennis Professional. Jerome had been telling everyone about the Tennis 101 program and how it is a great way to learn the game at any age. Kelly decided to give it a try in June 2017 and has found it to be approachable, not intimidating. She was excited Dr. Kelly Hernandez to get active in a game that she could engage her two young children in as well through the Junior Tennis Program at the Club. By July 2017, Kelly had graduated from Tennis 101 and was so happy with how well her game was progressing she moved on to Tennis 201.

Along the way, many friendships were made and one in particular was with a fellow Member, Baillee Batcheler. As a way to get more involved in the Club, Baillee encouraged Kelly to consider joining one of the many available committees. As a result, in the fall of 2017, Kelly was elected to both the Tennis and the Young Member Committees. Kelly describes her experience as being “fun, a place to belong, and a way to get into a group at a similar player level. She felt that there was a level of comfort that made her want to keep coming back, and therefore further engage with fellow Club Members. GETTING INTO ONE OF OUR TENNIS GROUPS IS A FANTASTIC WAY TO GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS. Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club is here to provide camaraderie and friendships, as well as phenomenal facilities and programming provided by our team of professionals. INTERVAL TRAINING: HIIT (high intensity interval training) is my top choice if you want to burn 300 calories fast. HIIT training consists of alternating short periods of intense physical activity with short periods of rest. My favorite interval session involves mixing in the Skill Mill with high intensity strength training: 30 seconds going all out on the Skill Mill followed immediately by 24 reps of push-up to rows, then straight to 12 dumbbell squats. Rest for two minutes and repeat. JACOBS LADDER: If you're tired of traditional workouts and searching for something different and challenging, the Jacobs Ladder might be just what you’re looking for. In addition to strengthening and toning muscles, a Jacobs Ladder session will boost your heart rate, build stamina and increase flexibility.

10 THINGS to know

about Kyle Knouse ➊Tell us about you (born, family,…)

I was born and raised in the small town of Covington, Oklahoma, with a population of 500. I attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Made the move to Dallas with my partner and am loving everything the Four Seasons and Dallas has to offer.

➋ What are your hobbies? I love coffee and wine (if that counts as a hobby), working out and being active as much as possible.

➌ What is your Four Seasons journey? Kyle Knouse Fitness Desk Supervisor

I applied for the Four Seasons position not expecting much, and at the time we were back and forth on if we were ready to move. I unexpectedly got the offer while on vacation and it has been a blur ever since. From day one, the staff and membership have been beyond warm and welcoming. I have met so many sincere people, and am still being asked how we are adjusting and settling into Dallas. I couldn’t have asked for a better team and am so excited to see where my journey here goes.

➍ Any degree/certification? ROWING: Not only does rowing enhance your cardio-respiratory system, it’s great for injury prevention, improving muscle and joint mobility and burning body fat. Building short 250 meter bursts into your interval program or doing a steady rowing workout will help you easily shed 300 calories in 30 minutes.

B.S. Kinesiology: Exercise & Fitness Management

KETTLEBELL TRAINING: They are about as low tech as you can get, but kettlebell training is a very efficient way to burn calories by combining strength training and cardio in one workout. Adding kettlebells to your fitness routine (or doing an entire 30-minute kettlebell workout) can maximize your time and increase strength, cardio-endurance and flexibility unlike any other single piece of equipment. Best of all, they are small, portable and take up very little space. I like timing one minute intervals of each of the following movements in order: kettlebell swings; goblet squat to press; one arm press; one arm row; around the leg squats; Turkish get-up. Rest for two minutes and repeat.

Chicago, NYC being a close second. I love big cities, skylines, and city lights.

➎ Any previous experience? Before the Four Seasons, I was the Director of Fitness at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City. Prior to that position and graduation, I worked as a fitness attendant and in various areas of the Club including pool supervisor and events and banquets. I was a part of the Gaillardia Club for a total of 5 years where I developed my passion for the fields of fitness and hospitality.

➏ Favorite vacation? ➐ Favorite food? Pizza, sandwiches, tacos, donuts. The list is really too long, I don’t discriminate when it comes to food.

➑ Fun things to share about you I graduated with a class of 16, ironically am not a sports fan, but a sucker for reality T.V., love new shoes, Christmas, Sour Patch Kids.

➒ What did you accomplish that you are proud of? Making the move from OK to TX. We basically decided to move on a whim. The fast decision to move is so far out of my comfort zone and has been a huge lesson on just going after what you want in life and making things happen.

➓ Anything else about you you’d like to share I have yet to travel outside of the U.S. — or get a passport. I look forward to exploring Mexico this summer.

ANTIGRAVITY® PHILOSOPHY—

F E AT U R E

PREMISE OF A N T I G R AV I T Y

®

“In Life, Hidden in the Forces that pull us Down, is the Energy to lift us Up!”

The Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club introduced the AntiGravity Aerial Yoga class in 2015 and it literally took off. USE IT OR LOSE IT. As the body ages, in order to combat the aging affects of gravity, the joints need to be pushed to maintain mobility, the muscles need to be worked to maintain proper alignment, proprioceptors need to be sharpened to maintain agility and the vertebral discs need to be hydrated to minimize deterioration. Use it or lose it!

AntiGravity® techniques can be found in elite gyms and studios including Madonna’s Hard Candy Fitness, Richard Branson’s Virgin Active, and of course, the Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club. The technique has even been endorsed by Ironman’s Gwyneth Paltrow as the secret to her health and fitness. Performers from Mariah Carey to Britney Spears to Pink have also used the AntiGravity Hammock in concert tours and on the Grammy awards.

AntiGravity Aerial Yoga classes at the Club are 60 minutes with participants being led step-by-step by a certified AntiGravity instructor. You will learn all you need to flip, swing and fly through space without even noticing that you are working out. The AntiGravity 2 class is for those who have completed a minimum of four AntiGravity classes and is a faster moving class for more experienced students. Discover the power, excitement and pure joy of moving freely in all directions of open space through AntiGravity Aerial Yoga!

One cornerstone of AntiGravity techniques is the concept of “zero-compression inversions.” During the inversions, students hang upsidedown supported at the waist and hip by the hammock, which relieves pressure from the neck and spine, and allows the spine to lengthen while increasing blood flow to the brain. The AntiGravity Philosophy includes the following: DREAM OF FLIGHT. Although man was not born with wings, the dream of flight is primal to humans. Greek Gods & Superheroes fly through the air. AntiGravity stems from that dream. The goal is to leave class feeling for a moment that you have “slipped the surly bonds of earth,” sprouted wings and realized the dream of flight. LIGHTNESS. As you practice AntiGravity techniques you not only become more efficient with your movement and more confident about physicality, but you will become lighter! AntiGravity has two meanings 1) playing within the laws of physics 2) against graveness -- in other words, keep moving, stay light-hearted and have fun! When you laugh you are working your risible muscles. In AntiGravity we are intent on keeping them in shape.

AntiGravity is an inclusive class – anyone can participate. You don’t need to have prior yoga experience – just an open mind. AntiGravity classes are a judgement free space, inspiring health happiness through innovative movement. Whether it’s stronger arms, abdominals or legs, better balance or increasing confidence, AntiGravity changes our lives for the better.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH. We are constantly chasing potions for youth and have learned how to hide our wrinkles, however, it is our posture, agility and ease of movement that often shows our age the most. Spa

Wake Up Buttercup facial (60 MINUTES, $165)

First, a warm nectar whole milk and chicory root wrap envelops skin in hydrating fats and proteins. A pH-balanced Green Tea Milk Wash cleanse removes dirt, oil and makeup, followed by a gentle, but thorough, nourishing mask with rice powder, mango butter and burdock root. Next, a crisp application of aronia fruit and rose water toner refines skin to silky smooth splendor before an exfoliating blend of a whipped micro-sugar polish sloughs skin smooth bringing skin to a glistening state. An Agave Nectar oil-steaming compress plumps the look of your skin with a special blend of hydrating extracts. Then, skin drinks up an organic coconut milk mask with skin balancing, healthy pre- and probiotics that will leave your face dewy and gorgeous.
