F O U R S E A S O N S G O L F & S P O R T S C L U B C O M M U N I T Y,
ith the summer months approaching, the Club has a variety of events scheduled. Camp Four Seasons summer camps will be filling up fast. There is a full summer schedule of Golf Camps, Tennis Camps and Swing, Serve and Splash Camps. Be sure to register online, through the Club App or in person with Membership Services to reserve space for your children. Your committee system is busy with planning events for social, fitness, tennis and golf. The next few months will include the Derby de Mayo party, Mother’s Day Brunch, the Luau, the Grill N Chill Dive In Movies, and all of the Memorial Day and Independence Weekend festivities. Be sure to check the Club calendar for the full schedule of activities during the summer holiday weekends. Once again this year, your Board of Governors will host two State of the Club Addresses in July and November. These events provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the status of the Club, hear about management and ownership plans for member value, and to ask any questions you may have regarding the direction of the Club. Enjoy the summer and everything the Club has to offer!

and
Sports Club Members,
LOOK BACK AND SEE SO MUCH POSITIVE CHANGE AND PROGRESSION IN THE CLUB, making
Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club the best in Texas. This is largely due to the passion and energy that our membership shows each day. Your involvement, support, and enthusiasm are truly the heartbeat of this Club. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the 2018-2019 Board of Governors and Committees for embodying a true ambassador spirit to the Club and being the voice of the membership to the management team. The efforts of your elected Club leader is being recognized on a national level! I am proud to announce that Dr. Josh Weiss, your current Board Chairman, has been awarded the 2018 “Private Club President of the Year” award by Boardroom Magazine! This is recognized as the most prestigious award that any elected Club leader can receive in the United States. Josh has worked tirelessly over the past 15 months, leading the Board of Governors and working with management to address the challenges of a growing Club. He has shown great leadership and is always the first to celebrate our successes. I know that 2019 will be our best year yet, as Josh was unanimously re-elected to serve a second year as Chairman. Please join me in congratulating Josh on this award, as it brings our Club onto the national stage as one of the best in the country. Our 2019 focus will remain on increasing the value of your membership with every decision that is made throughout the organization. We are excited about several initiatives that are already in progress and those that we have planned on the horizon with our new owners. We are working hard to finalize the major improvements to the Resort and Club and will be announcing those later this summer. A priority for 2019 will be on further enhancing our communications. If you haven’t already downloaded our app, please begin to get acquainted with the framework of how it works. You will see additional features rolled out over the next few months that will enhance our ability to customize your membership experience on a more personal level. This includes a more robust member profile that will allow you to communicate what you are seeking from your Club experience and will empower our team to react to your preferences. Ultimately, our communication and technology advancements are centered on creating a family of friends, and will allow us to create programming and events that speak directly to your wants and needs. I have truly enjoyed getting to know many of you, and I look forward to continuing to form relationships throughout the upcoming year that will allow us to take the Club experience to unprecedented heights. Your suggestions have been meaningful, and I hope to hear more of them as the year goes on. Please feel free to email me at jim.kern@fourseasons.com. Kind regards, Jim Kern, PGA General Manager

Golf Tip
Stats Analyzing your game and how to shoot lower scores involves many different aspects. For me, there are three stats
that stand out amongst all the others to guarantee the ability to lower your score. I ask my students to be aware of two chips, three putts and penalty shots.
By Tim Cusick, PGA
•In any shot, you would like to get onto Director of Golf Instruction the green in one shot (unless you are obstructed or have a difficult lie). Distance from the hole is secondary if you struggle in this category. •Lagging your first putt as close to the hole as possible will help ensure that you minimize or eliminate your three putts. •Playing higher percentage shots and aiming away from trouble are necessary steps to avoid penalty shots. Make it a habit to check these three stats after each and every round. When you improve in these three categories, you WILL shoot lower scores.

PGA Junior Golf League By Jack Daneshmand
The Junior Golf Team is entering its second full season participating in the PGA Junior League, and we’ve teamed up with Lakewood Country Club, Gleneagles Country Club and Dallas Athletic Club for 2019. Our team is comprised of 15 juniors playing three home matches and three away matches. At the end of the league, the team with the most points will be crowned the champion and will have the most players move on to the All-Star Match. Four Seasons is the reigning champion and with two matches left, we look forward to continuing the success from last year.
CAMP FOUR SEASONS JUNIOR GOLF CAMPS Our 4-day Golf or Tennis Camps are fantastic for juniors to learn etiquette, rules and proper technique in their sports. Each day’s activities progress to the final day that will include awards and certificates. Kids are provided with a healthy lunch and can cool off and play at the end of each camp day in the Family Pool!
The Junior Golf Team provides junior golfers the ability to learn and play in a fun environment. There are four ability-based teams (SNAG, Development, Interclub, Champions). If you are interested in joining the Junior Golf Team, please contact Jack Daneshmand at jack.daneshmand @fourseasons.com.

Tennis TIPS FROM THE PROS
Split Step
by John Mullman, Tennis Professional When is the right time to split step? As a player, you should commit to a split step when the ball is about 3 feet away from your opponent’s racquet. Don’t wait until your opponent hits the ball to split step. Two things come from a good split step. First, you’ll always be ready to strike the ball in a forward position. Second, as you move to where the ball is hit and create your split step, you will be in the right position. Take this to the court and enhance your game! Have fun on the courts!
Identify your opponent’s weakness and use it to your advantage! by Yevgen Bondarchuk, Tennis Professional
Every match has a five-minute warm-up beforehand. Use that time to get ready to play, but more importantly to test your opponent and determine their best side while hitting forehands and backhands. From that point, you can strategize how and when to play to their strengths and weaknesses.

Pro Tennis Challenge
JUNIOR TENNIS
Saturday, February 2
In February, Dallas hosted the RBC Tennis Championships, which brought some of the top players in the world to our hometown. We invited those players to our annual Pro Tennis Challenge here at Four Seasons, where the ATP pros played against our own Four Seasons professional staff and top Club players. Just like in past years, they put on a good show for our members and spectators! Four Seasons professional staff included Jerome Millet, Julian McClaine and Yevgen Bondarchuk. Club players included Nicolas Lopez, Vince Menard, Curtis Powell, Alex Pier and Bob Barrie.

Champion
Meet Chasti Gest Chasti has only been playing tennis for a little more than a year,
but has been hooked ever since starting in our Quickstart Adult Tennis 101 program. In one short year, she learned to play the game, played in the Club Tennis Doubles Champion and won in her division, and has been a top finisher in multiple Tuesday Night League seasons, including a first-place finish last year. She was the 2018 Club Doubles B Division Champion, along with fellow playing partner Baillee Thomsen. Chasti represents Four Seasons in intraclub league play in both the Tennis Competitors of Dallas and MetroPlex Tennis leagues. She’s a member of our Tennis Committee, helping bring a quality tennis experience to Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club.
When did you start playing tennis and what made you decide to try it out?
I started playing tennis a little over a year ago when I saw the Tennis 101 poster at the Club. I have always wanted to learn the game, and this was a great introduction to the sport I now enjoy playing so much. What is your favorite aspect of the game?
My favorite aspect about tennis is definitely the comradery! You’re involved in many different tennis outlets at Four Seasons. Which ones do you enjoy the most?
Since every day that I play is different in its own way, I would have to say I can’t pick a favorite! Tuesday league night is so much fun and laid back. Wednesday night team drills are so informative with Julian and Jerome, and I always get excited to implement what I’ve learned in the metro matches on Saturdays. What are your hopes/goals/thoughts as a Tennis Committee member?
Being a part of the Tennis Committee has brought a different view for me as a member of Four Seasons. It has me listening to what fellow players want out of their tennis experience, and I feel that I can impact the outcome of their feedback in a positive way. Any tips or advice for those thinking about starting to play tennis?
QUICKSTART ADULT TENNIS PROGRAM
If anyone has thought about picking up a racquet, don’t hesitate! You might get the “fever” just like me and everyone else that loves this sport so much!
TENNIS 101 AND TENNIS 201 8-WEEK PROGRAM
2 sessions of 4 weeks each. TENNIS 101- Technique basics and movement of each stroke TENNIS 201- Strategy, scoring and etiquette, technique and footwork development. Sign up with Jerome Millet at Jerome.Millet@FourSeasons.com or call the Tennis Reception Desk at 972-717-2540.

Fitness Recovery Tools By Josh Biard, Athletic Services Manager
Sometimes foam rollers are too broad to hit the right spot. To target tightly knotted areas like my neck, feet and hips, I use the Trigger Point Massage Ball. Due to its shape and small size, it can easily pin point the perfect spot. If you're on the road, a lacrosse (or tennis) ball will also do the trick. For tight hamstring, calf and quadriceps muscles, using a muscle roller stick is your best bet. My favorite roller is the Hybrid Stick because of its ability to dig deep and release knots while increasing blood flow and flexibility. We have all of these tools on the fitness floor, so please feel free to ask a Fitness Attendant or connect with a personal trainer if you would like to give them a try!

Chef’s Corner MEET OUR NEW CHEF
Ryan Barnett Healthier eating is definitely a hot subject right now. Vegan dishes have become more and more popular. My mission at LAW is to offer wellbalanced, seasonal and healthy fare for everyone. This Cauliflower Fried Rice Bowl is one of my favorite vegan dishes. Enjoy it by itself or as a side for a simple grilled fish or steak.
Cauliflower Fried Rice Bowl Recipe serves 8 bowls 8 cups cauliflower florets Shiitake mushrooms 2 cobbs of corn 4 celery stalks 2 red bell peppers ½ bulb fennel 2 carrots 3 bunches broccolini ¼ cup tamari soy sauce ½ cup sweet chile sauce 2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro Daikon radish sprouts, green onions, cilantro (garnish) Olive oil Salt Cauliflower Rice Place 8 cups washed cauliflower florets in a food processor and quickly press the pulse button 8-10 times until broken down into a grain like texture. Roasted Mushrooms Slice Shiitake mushrooms to ¼ inch, toss with oil and salt and roast at 350ºF for 7 minutes. Cool and set aside until needed.
Roasted Vegetables Cut 2 ears of corn off the cob. Dice 4 pieces celery, 2 red bell pepper, ½ fennel bulb and 2 carrots to match the size of corn kernels. Toss with oil and salt, spread on a sheet tray and roast at 350ºF for 10 minutes. Cool and set aside until needed. Broccolini Puree Blanch 3 bunches broccolini in salted water for 4 minutes, then shock in ice water. Puree in the Vitamix, adding ¼ cup ice water for every bunch. Once the mixture is pureed, run blender on high and slowly add 1 tablespoon olive oil for a smooth and shiny puree. Season with salt and rewarm for use. Asian Sauce Combine ¼ cup tamari soy sauce, ½ cup sweet chile sauce and 2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro. Store cold until needed.
I hope I will see you soon in LAW to try one of my new dishes!
To Finish Warm a pan over medium to high heat for 1 minute, then add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add the riced cauliflower to the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 3 minutes. Add the roasted veggies and mushrooms and allow to cook for 1-2 more minutes. While the pan is still very hot, add 2 tablespoons of the Asian sauce and quickly stir while liquid is evaporating. Spoon ½ cup of the warm broccolini puree into the bottom of a bowl, then gently spoon the fried cauliflower rice on top. Garnish with a few pieces of daikon radish sprouts, green onions or chopped cilantro and enjoy!

Seminar Offers a Message of Confidence for Young Women June 14 - 16, 2019
At MODEL PREP we understand that every girl struggles to find confidence within herself so we’re here to help girls put their shoulders back and hold their head up high while International Model and founder of Model Prep, Amber Griffin, teaches them how to be self-confident and own it! Amber, a Campbell Agency model who has graced runways from Paris to Milan, has a wealth of knowledge of the fashion industry to share with attendees. This exciting program held at the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas is open to girls between the ages of 11-17 and will be unlike any summer program your daughter will ever attend. Aimed at both aspiring models and girls who simply want to build more confidence, Griffin says this workshop will “ teach young women to conquer their fears so they can conquer life.”
4020 N. MCARTHUR BLVD., #122
Workshops will include, but are not limited to:
• Self Esteem and Confidence Workshop • Runway Training • Top Industry Panel Discussion • Fashionable Fashion Show • Sunday Brunch • Friendly Competition • Amazing Grand Prizes Just as important, Amber points out, young women will find a strong support network among the participants. At that age, she says, a girl needs some reminders that she’s beautiful and worthy of all her goals. Through this workshop, Griffin hopes to provide that support through panel discussions and friendships built among participants and instructors alike.
FOR MORE INFORMATION and to register for the June 14-16 seminar, visit ModelPrep.com, email amber@ modelprep.com or call (214) 998-8119.
