As we approach the busy holiday season, I know many of you are gearing up for the hustle and bustle that follows. We hope that includes spending time with loved ones, enjoying your favorite holiday traditions and making special memories that will last a lifetime.

I know my colleagues at the Y share my gratitude that we have been able to play a small part in another year of service to you and the community. That is a privilege and an honor that we don’t take lightly.

As we view it, our Staff and Volunteers are like Family and our Customers like guests in our home. Putting people first is what helped us grow to become the largest nonprofit charitable organization in Kendall County. It is what drives us to advance a mission and empower people rather than to amass money. We are here to connect people of all ages and strengthen communities through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility providing financial assistance to those who need us most. And for that, we are all truly blessed.

The YMCA Early Learning Academy provides enriching experiences that facilitate a child’s cognitive social, physical, and emotional growth.

We use Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment Tool, both are research based and designed to prepare your child for lifelong learning. These strategies focus on building a classroom community and strengthening social/emotional skills while integrating content learning in the areas of math, language and literacy, science, social studies and the arts. We strive to meet the developmental needs and temperament of each child by working in partnership with families.

Our child care and preschool, licensed by the State of Illinois, provide a curriculum focused on education, leadership, and character development. At the Y we believe that the first five years of life are the foundation for future success in school and beyond. We help children develop positive behaviors and values that stay with them throughout their life. The Early Learning Academy taps into each child’s unique strengths and interests to help develop confident learners.

Using the Creative Curriculum in both our child care and preschool gives parents the option for full day, full year care OR half day preschool.

The Early Learning Academy offers the perfect balance of learning through play and intentional teaching. Using science, social studies and “first hand” experiences as a segue to learning, children develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills necessary for Kindergarten. FULL DAY CHILD CARE PROGRAM

INFANT PROGRAM {6 weeks - 15 months 1:4 Ratio} In the infant classroom, our primary emphasis is meeting the infant’s daily needs and providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Children are provided experiences that foster and develop their cognitive, social/emotional, and motor skills while encouraging their independence.

Infants are engaged in developmentally appropriate toys, books, stories and finger plays throughout the day. They are learning through routines and attachments to their caregivers.

Infant daily nap and meal schedule are based on the infant’s individual needs.

TODDLERS {16-24 months 1:5 Ratio}

FULL DAY OR HALF DAY PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

THREES, FOURS & FIVES {1:10 Ratio} The three to five year old classrooms focus on the growth and development of the whole child: physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Activities and classroom centers are oriented to the child’s interest and developmental levels. Our three to five year olds are able to make choices in a variety of areas including: art and sensory activities, dramatic play, stories and books, music and movement, fine and large motor development and much more. Children continue to build their self-help skills and independence while developing their socialization skills through interactions with peers and adults.

In the toddler classroom, children are introduced to a more structured and regular routine. Children are provided an environment that encourages exploration and curiosity by offering child-initiated and teacher-guided activities.

Toddlers have opportunities to make choices in art, sensory, exploration, problem-solving, music, books, self-help skills, and interactive play. The toddler classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.

Our program builds the foundation and prepares children for those skills needed in Kindergarten. Math, science, language areas, and pre-reading and writing are emphasized.

In addition, children learn important classroom skills such as taking turns, sharing and cooperation. Children learn to develop socially acceptable behaviors and positive social relationships through cooperative play experiences.

Three year old students must be three by September 1.

Pre-K students must be four by September 1 and High Fives students must be five by December 1.

In the two’s classroom, the children discover a stimulating environment arranged into various interest and learning centers. Our goal for our two year olds include: developing valuable self-help skills such as potty training, personal hygiene, dressing self and putting toys away. We also focus on building cognitive skills, such as counting, sorting, recognizing letters, colors and shapes. Another important skill we work on is interacting with others. We have many opportunities for sharing, listening and taking turns. The two’s classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.

Siblings of enrolled children will pay a reduced registration fee of $35. Upon entering the program, parents will need to provide an original birth certificate, a current physical and immunization form, and the enrollment packet.

LENDING LIBRARY SUPPLEMENTAL READING PROGRAM

Funding from the Ted and Virginia Shaw Foundation has allowed the YMCA Early Learning Center to establish our first “Lending Library.” All children enrolled in the YMCA Early Learning Academy childcare and/or preschool will participate while in school. Children will pick a book weekly to take home and read with their parents. A literacy activity will also be provided.

Research shows that children who are read to consistently by their parents often begin reading earlier than their peers. We support and use Usborne books to provide children and families with a quality reading program.

Usborne Books & More provides K-12 supplemental materials to support educators as they implement these new Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We’ve made the selection process easy with Usborne and Kane Miller titles which are aligned with the standards. As an endorsing partner of CCSS, Usborne Books & More will help schools and families choose books to help educate their children, both within the school setting and at home. Certain topics mandated by these standards include myths, stories from around the world, and informational text.

This state-led initiative is currently approved in 48 states, two territories and District of Columbia. The Standards were launched more than a year ago by state governors and state commissioners of education. The federal government was not involved in the development of these standards. Consistent standards will provide appropriate benchmarks for all students, regardless of where they live. These standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entrylevel, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs.

S.A.F.E (SAFE ACTIVE FUN ENRICHMENT) SAFE is our before and after school program for students in Yorkville, Plano, Sandwich, Somonauk, and Newark School Districts.

Newark, Plano, and Yorkville offer AM and PM care. Sandwich and Somonauk currently offer PM care only. Morning care begins at 6:30am. Afternoon care begins immediately after dismissal until 6:00pm.

We offer homework assistance, creative enrichment activities, supervised athletic play, and many social opportunities for your child. A light breakfast snack is served in the morning and an afternoon snack are served. Throughout the year, SAFE students enjoy a variety of themed activities, special holiday parties, and even in-class field trips.

You will find professional, dependable, and safe care for your K-6 student in our SAFE program. Our staff model and teach the YMCA core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty in their work with the students. Each of our sites has a staff to child ratio of 1:12. All YMCA staff members are background checked, CPR and first aid certified, and have taken child abuse prevention courses.

Flexible attendance options and convenient payment plans (Weekly, Semi-Monthly and Monthly Draft options) are available.

We accept DHS payments for childcare and have an in-house scholarship program for those who qualify.

Saturday, April 26 | 1-3pm | FREE YMCA Healthy Kids Day encourages kids and families to stay active, connected and healthy. It is a community-based event that celebrates making fitness fun, and introduces kids to an array of YMCA programs that teach healthy behaviors and healthy ways to play.

This FREE event is an afternoon filled with games, prizes, events, photo ops, special guests, demonstrations, food, our Aqua Track, and even a 5K race! LIVEFIT CHALLENGE Ages 18+ | $40M/$80NM Registration Deadline: Feb. 15

The Fox Valley Family YMCA and KishHealth System have partnered together to offer the LiveFit Challenge.

The LiveFit Challenge is an eight week program that promotes healthy lifestyle changes.

YMCA Team Exercise Classes meet once a week for one hour with your team Additional class opportunities Full use of Central and West Branch YMCA’s Initial and ending health assessment Goal Setting with Wellness Staff Interactive Food Journaling Additional YMCA activities and exercise goals and opportunities Weekly discussions and presentations offered by KishHealth System which provide information on creating a healthy relationship with food Support through teamwork and goals During the eight weeks there will be weigh-ins, weekly team goals, and information to help participants Live Fit. All classes can be modified for all fitness levels. The LiveFit Challenge offers more support, more details, and more guidance and is more hands on than in the past.

KishHealth System will host their programs every Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in the Valley West Medical Building (1310 N. Main Street, Sandwich). Doors will open at 6:00pm for weekly weigh-ins and programs will begin at 6:30pm. For information about the KishHealth System Meetings contact the Community Wellness Department at 815-786-3962.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and top female with the highest percentage of body weight loss. Prizes will also be awarded to the first place team based on percentage of program participation points to the top team. Participation points will be awarded for attending additional workouts, posting healthy meals, and additional healthy activities. The cost includes all seminars and discussions offered through KishHealth System, YMCA Membership and any YMCA group exercise class, including a mandatory once a week LiveFit class and a LiveFit shirt.

NEW THIS YEAR: We will accommodate your requested team, with a minimum of six members. LiveFit participants must attend the weekly class they are assigned to, points will not be given for make-up classes. All participants will weigh-in on one scale at the KishHealth System – Cardiac Rehabilitation Office.

For your benefit, we offer each member of the Y a FREE Wellness Orientation to discuss goals, barriers, orientation to our facility, and more. Our Wellness Orientation offers three levels of support and follow-up from our wellness staff.

We offer three different sessions and encourage members to participate in all three orientations.

NEW! TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING TRX Suspension Training is a revolutionary method of leveraged body weight exercises that integrates cardiovascular and functional strength training regimens. Safely perform hundreds of exercises that will build strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, and prevent injuries — all at the intensity you choose. Sessions are limited to four participants and pre-registration is required.

YMCA BOOT CAMP Boot Camp is for individuals looking to be pushed to the next level to cut fat, tone muscles, increase energy, build endurance, maintain exercise discipline, or to try something new. The result: a great workout and great calorie burner. Instructors will work with all fitness levels from beginners to advanced! Must be at least 18 years of age to register. Pre-registration is required.

AQUA FITNESS

Ladies, if you’re looking to enhance your current workout or just to get started, this is a great class for you! W.O.W. will focus on gaining muscular strength, toning, and endurance through the use of weights. You will become very comfortable in the free weight area of the Wellness Center by the end of this class. Must be at least 18 years of age to register.

YOUTH FITNESS TEEN STRENGTH

Ages 12-15 | $25 Teens will learn the fundamentals of strength training, as well as Wellness Center etiquette. The focus will be on building a knowledgeable base to put into practice, with emphasis on form and safety. After successful completion of class, teens will be awarded an Access Pass to the Wellness Center for teens under the age of 14.

GYMNASTICS FOX VALLEY FLYERS

The Fox Valley Flyers is a competitive gymnastics team that competes in USAG meets. The Flyers also have the opportunity to qualify for YMCA Nationals which are held in a different state each year. Last year the Flyers traveled to Savannah Georgia. The Flyers Team consists of levels 3 through 8 and has approximately 40 gymnasts competing. The girls have worked hard to get through all the instructional levels to earn their way to team. Team try-outs are held each year in June as a part of our annual Summer Gymnastics Camp. All gymnasts wanting to be considered for the competition team must attend camp. For additional information please contact Gymnastics Director Karen Oelker at koelker@foxvalleyymca.org.

The Flyers are coached by: Karen Oelker, Amy Killey, Chloe’ Oelker, Tiffany Haag and Kathleen Lavery. Our goal as coaches is and always has been to not only make this a strong, winning team, but to teach our girls the importance of working together and supporting each other. We believe what they learn here will stay with them long after their gymnastics careers.

The Fox Valley Flyers travelled to Savannah, Georgia to 2007 Seattle, WA 2011 Toledo, OH compete in the YMCA Gymnastics National Competition.

2008 Sheboygan, WI 2012 Milwaukee, WI This competition brings in gymnasts from all over the United States, which creates some pretty fierce competition. Unlike other sports, you must earn your spot on the awards stand at the end of the competition. Well, the Fox Valley Flyers did just that. All of the members of the team who made the trip to Savannah stood on the award stand, many more than once!

In the Level 4 competition, Ingrid Magnussen scored 36.75 in the AA out of a possible 40. Lily Horsch came in with an AA score of 36.625. Delaney Talty was at 35.45, Alainna Batres 35.3, Tori Cavey 34.725, Paige Sartori 34.55, Maddy Kotler 34.125, Aleena Kallan 33.575 and Audrey Berblinger 32.2. At Level 5 there were also some pretty impressive AA scores. Kylie Eike came in 1st Place in the AA with a score of 36.125, Mikaela Morton came in a very close 2nd Place with her score of 35.925. Breanna Lee had an AA score of 35.175 and Kayla Fields was at 33.05. At Level 7, Rita Anne Hames came in 3nd Place in the AA with her score of 34.85. The long trip was definitely worth it! In 2014 The Fox Valley Flyers will travel to Tampa, Florida for YMCA Nationals. The gymnasts will be working hard all season in order to qualify for this competition. Good Luck girls!

GYMNASTICS PRESCHOOL CLASSES - AGES 2-5

TUMBLING TYKES (AGES 2-3 WITH PARENT) This class is designed for children to learn how to interact with other children while exploring the exciting world of gymnastics.

We will work on coordination while doing many different skills on the equipment. And of course we will jump in the big foam pit! This class is for the child and parent only. For an additional fee, there is Kid Zone available during all Tumbling Tykes classes. Kid Zone is a fun place for your other children to stay while you are in class with your Tumbling Tyke.

MIGHTY TYKES (AGES 4-5) Now it’s time to learn more of the basics of gymnastics without Mom or Dad. We will be working all four events with a group of friends. We will learn how to swing on the bars and do many fun skills on the beam and floor. We even get to use a springboard! And what fun we will have jumping in the foam pit!!

GIRLS INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSES BEGINNERS GIRLS (AGES 6+)

If you are 6 years old and want to learn more about gymnastics, this is where you start! You will learn some of the basics as you work skills on bars, beam, floor and vault.

TEEN BASIC GYMNASTICS (AGES 11+) That’s right girls! If you are 11 or older this class is just for you!

Just because you are a little older than your average beginner does not mean you can’t be a gymnast! So grab your friends and give it a try! This class meets Thursdays from 5-6pm.

PROGRESSIONS A&B (AGES 6+) Once you have mastered all the skills in beginner, you will move on to Progressions. Progressions A meets once a week. If gymnastics is your passion and you want to move along faster, you should consider Progressions B, which will meet twice a week on Mon/Wed.

TUMBLING CLASSES (CO-ED, AGES 6+) SPECIAL NEEDS CLASS

This class is for children who want to experience the fun and excitement of gymnastics in a more comfortable setting. The children get to use all kinds of mats on the floor, they can walk on a beam and they also get to jump on the tumble trak into the foam pit! A parent is required to attend this class with their child.

BEGINNER This class is for boys and girls who want to learn basic tumbling such as handstands, cartwheels and rolls. We also work on body position and of course, form.

ADVANCED TUMBLING Once you have mastered all the skills in the Beginner class you will learn more advanced skills, such as backbend kickovers, back walkovers and flip-flops.

Calling all cheerleaders! We offer classes for cheerleaders who need to learn to tumble and those who want some help with their arm motions and jumps! Cheer Beginner is for girls with little or no tumbling experience. Advanced Cheer is for girls who have mastered Cheer beginner. Cheer Tech focuses on all aspects of cheer. Check them out!

If you are new to the program or are not sure what level to place your child, take advantage of a free swim evaluation. The Aqua Force Swim School Staff will determine the appropriate level for your child. Registering for the appropriate swim level will help your child get the maximum benefit from the class. Aqua Force Swim Team is a year round competitive swim team program of the Fox Valley Family YMCA. We offer high quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages (5-21) and abilities. We encourage our swimmers to reach their highest potential as they strive to improve their skills and reach new goals. In FOXVALLEYYMCA.ORG/AQUAFORCE addition to sharpening technique and increasing endurance, the team helps build strong character traits, promotes unity among peers, and defines individual leadership skills. The number one goal of the Aqua Force Swim Team is to promote personal health within a team environment; and most importantly...to have FUN! All of our coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States.

SPRING TRIATHLON CAMP

Ages 8-18 | April 21-25 | 5:30-8pm | $50M/$75NM | Central The “lifestyle” sport of triathlon which includes swimming, biking and running can be a fun and exciting way for kids to stay active.

Triathlon is one of the fastest growing participatory sports in the United States with much of that growth coming from youth and junior involvement. Youth participation can jump-start a lifetime of healthy fitness and eating habits at an early age. Children of all skill levels can feel a sense of accomplishment as each individual’s strengths may be different, providing them with a positive feeling about themselves. Triathlon will teach children the benefits of working as part of a team to accomplish their goals and prove that when you put your mind to something, anything is possible.

The weeklong camp will be led by a USA triathlon certified youth triathlon coach.

Due to limited facility space, make-up classes will no longer be offered when absent from a class. Classes that have a low enrollment are generally cancelled approximately one week before the first meeting date. Please sign up early for your program to avoid cancellations.

Classes are for students age 18 months–17 years of age.

Students will be evaluated the first week of class. The Arts Director reserves the right to move any child to the appropriate level.

Advancement may take from 6 months to 2 years. A student may only enroll in the next level when given permission by the instructor and director. Please be on time for class.

Join us for the Fox Valley Family YMCA’s School of Dance annual dance recital. The recital will be held at the Yorkville Middle School and will include performances from our dance classes and La Premiere Dance Company. Students must be registered by the end of February in order to participate in the recital. A $15 recital fee per child will be due at the time of registration. Included in the registration fee is a recital t-shirt for each child participating in the recital. Costume measuring will take place the second week of the session.

Additional fees for the recital include: costumes ($40-$60 per costume due by the end of March), recital tickets, recital pictures, and DVD. You have the option of bank drafting for the recital session in monthly payments. See below for fees. For bank draft, the first month is paid up front, and then drafted for three months. NFL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Ages 4-11 | April 27-June 15 | $50M/$75NM | Central NFL FLAG is the premier youth football league for boys and girls. The program provides a safe and exciting environment for all players. NFL FLAG Football program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. NFL FLAG gives youngsters the chance to be an official NFL player and wear official NFL gear. Prices include jerseys and flags. Adult and Youth Classes | Central Isshin Shorinji Ryu is an eclectic Okinawan art form created as a personal development system. Students develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. Students gain mastery of blocking, punching, kicking, throwing, trapping, and the use of the traditional Okinawan weapons, the Bo and Sai. Students improve the mindbody connection and gain greater personal respect, confidence, and respect for others. This is NOT a pay for belt program, all participants will be challenged to earn the belt they are awarded.

AIKIDO (AGES 13+) In this modern, Japanese martial art, the student will learn to use his/her opponent’s energy against them rather than using force against force. Safety is stressed and students will be taught to fall safely and to work in a cooperative manner with their training partners.

CO-ED VOLLEYBALL LEAGUES (AGES 18+)

Thursdays | Jan. 16 – April 3 | 6:15-9:15pm | $300/team This league is designed for those seeking organized league play both at the recreational and competitive levels. Teams must consist of at least two females and four males. If you are an experienced volleyball player familiar with passing, setting and hitting, the “Competitive League” is the division for you. If you’re looking for a fun night of organized co-ed volleyball, think about entering your team in our “Rec League.” These leagues fill up extremely fast, and we have a 10-team max.

MEN’S BASKETBALL LEAGUE (AGES 21+)

Mondays | Dec. 9 – March 3 | 6-9pm | $500/team This league offers a 10-game regular season schedule along with a post-season playoff. Weekly standings will be kept, IHSA officials will officiate games and all basketball rules/regulations will be enforced. YOUTH RESTRICTIONS

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

All classes require advance registration and fee payment. Programs will not be prorated.

To receive the discounted member rate you must be a member of the Fox Valley Family YMCA. Classes may meet on some holidays, please check with your instructor. All private lessons must be registered and paid for at the front desk. Programs with low enrollment are generally cancelled one week prior to start date. By participating in a YMCA program it is assumed that all participants using the facility agree to the waiver of liability. Waiver can be found on your program receipt or online. Two fees are listed by each class. The first fee is the discounted fee a FULL PRIVILEGE MEMBER pays and the second is the fee a NONMEMBER pays.

All children 11 and under must be in a supervised activity or with an adult 18 or older when using the facility. Children 14 or older may use the Fitness Center. Only children ages 5 and under are allowed to pass through the opposite sex locker rooms. Parents are encouraged to change all children of opposite sex age 5 and under in the designated areas.

Walk into any of our program sites or facilities and you will see people of all ages and incomes. If a person or family is unable to pay for membership, scholarships may be provided through donations from generous businesses, foundations and individuals. The demand for scholarships and program sponsorships increases every year. More than 1,000 individuals received assistance last year. Your gifts are needed to keep the YMCA open to all.

Contributions can be made with stock, cash, credit card, or through a small increase to your monthly membership bank draft.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION POLICY

In keeping with our Christian values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, all members are expected to behave appropriately while using the facilities. Those who choose to act inappropriately as defined by YMCA staff may be asked to leave the building. Repeat offenses can lead to a membership suspension or revoking all privileges.

Your opinion is important to us, if there is anything we can do to improve your member experience, please let us know. Programs cancelled by the Y will result in a full credit or refund. Classes missed due to weather, holidays, illness, acts of God, or choice of participants cannot be made up, credited or refunded.

All program cancellations requested by participants must be in writing five business days before the start of the class and may result in a $10 service fee. Cancellation policy is subject to change.

HOLIDAY/REFUND DISCLAIMER The Y does not hold classes on certain holidays so that our members and participants may spend time with their families. We do not prorate for these classes. If your class falls on a holiday please enjoy time with your family. These holidays include: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween Evening, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. The Y does not refund or prorate classes due to facility closures due to weather.

WAITING LISTS You may request to be placed on the program’s waiting list, if a class has reached the maximum. However, the waiting list is not a guarantee that the class will be offered or that registration is confirmed. Payment must be received at the time of registration to hold your spot on the roster.

GIFT CERTIFICATES Gift certificates are non-refundable. We are not responsible for lost or stolen gift certificates. Gift certificates won through other organizations are only valid for six months from date of donation.

SCHOLARSHIPS It is the policy of the Y to provide services for any adult, senior, or child who desires to participate and understands the benefits of the YMCA, regardless of ability to pay the standard membership or program fee. Those not able to pay the full fee may be awarded partial assistance based on their demonstrated ability to pay and the YMCA’s ability to fund the subsidy. Financial aid will only be provided for Fox Valley Family YMCA members. Nonmembers are not eligible for financial aid.

Families receiving financial aid will be eligible to receive a maximum of $1,000 for every six months.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN In addition to annual contributions for scholarship and program support, our YMCA is actively reinvesting in facilities to meet the needs of kids, teens, families, and seniors for generations to come. Every gift, large or small, is important as we look to your YMCA’s future.

ENDOWMENT / HERITAGE CLUB The Heritage Club is an organization of people who have shown their long-term interest and support of our YMCA by either a direct contribution to the Endowment Fund, or by including the YMCA in their estate plans. It is the commitment rather than the amount that is the basic factor in qualifying as a Heritage Club member.

HERITAGE CLUB MEMBERSHIP An individual or couple is qualified for Heritage Club membership by any of the following: an outright gift to the YMCA Endowment Fund of cash, securities, property or other marketable assets; creation of a unitrust, annuity trust, gift annuity, pooled-income fund, short-term trust or other life estate program; naming the Fox Valley Family YMCA as the eventual recipient of a life insurance policy, qualified retirement plan, 401 (k), 403 (b) or IRA; naming the Fox Valley Family YMCA to receive a bequest in one’s will or expressing intent to do any one of the foregoing at such time as circumstances permit.

VOLUNTEER Donate your time! The YMCA is always looking for volunteers, especially for our special events. Youth who volunteer are less likely to engage in risky behavior, are more likely to feel connected to their communities, and tend to do better in school. Get involved today. MEMBERSHIP FAMILY MEMBERSHIP Our family policy defines “family” as a legally married male and female and their dependent children. Children must be living in their household and under the age of 18, or 23 with proof of full-time college credit hours.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS All members must scan their membership cards upon entering the YMCA. There is a $5 charge for replacement cards. Membership cards are issued to members age 11 and older.

YMCA AWAY PROGRAM The welcome mat is always out to you as a member at over 2500 YMCAs across the US. Present your membership card at participating Y’s. Those using our Y on the AWAY program may use our facility at no charge but may not bring guests, excluding those who are members of a Y within a 25 mile radius of our Y. (Any Y within a 25 mile radius of the Central Branch may use the facility 1 time per month as an AWAY Member. After their first initial visit per month they will need to purchase a day pass.) It is the responsibility of the individual to cancel their membership with their previous Y. AWAY members will be charged the non-member fee for classes.

GUEST POLICY

PAYMENT PLANS

Guests must register with their sponsoring member at the front desk before using the facility. All guests must provide proper identification. Members are responsible for the actions of their guests. It is the responsibility of each member and their guest to abide by the rules of the Y and to act in an appropriate manner. Any person abusing the Y and/or exhibiting disruptive behavior will be asked to immediately vacate the premises without a refund. AWAY members may not bring guests. By participating in a Y program, it is assumed that all guests using the facility agree to the waiver of liability. Waivers can be found at the front desk.

Membership fees are payable through a monthly bank draft. The monthly amount is debited directly from your account on the 15th of every month. Drafts are ongoing until cancelled in writing by the primary member no less than five business days prior to your draft. Cancellations are accepted in person only. Please keep in mind, MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

If you have a circumstance arise and need to cancel, you must notify the YMCA Membership Department within 72 hours of joining. If the member was enrolled in a Y class, the difference between the member and non-member rate will be taken from the refundable amount. All requests are subject to a $10 processing fee. Lockers may be rented for a fee per month.

Locker fees are non-refundable. Lockers are also available for daily use, please bring your own lock. The Y is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

RECOGNITIONS MELISSA CASTILLA YMCA MEMBER of the QUARTER Melissa Castilla was nominated as our Member of the Quarter for her above-and-beyond help within the Aqua Force swim program. She has helped with the swim team for the last three years and is the swim meet coordinator and the Booster Club vice president.

Melissa is a stay-at-home mom to four children, two boys and two girls. With a background in business management she says that “anyone who knows me, even a little, knows that I love planning events, which is why I plan any I can for the swim team.” As a self-described “extremely outgoing, social person” she says she loves getting to meet and interact with so many great people and she enjoys chipping in around the Y wherever she’s needed. When asked what motivates her, she said, “my kids and all the kids on Aqua Force have always been my main motivation. If I can help put a smile on their faces or make something run better for them, I’m all in. Swim team is a big part of our lives and we love being a part of the Aqua Force family. We have lived in Yorkville for nine years and love it here. We try to give back as much as we can to all those in our life.”

AMY SMITH, DINA COOPER & CINDY GUSTAFSON YMCA VOLUNTEERS of the QUARTER All three of our recipients for Volunteer of the Quarter were nominated for their efforts in our Early Learning Center. When the need for cot sheets to be made came up, all of our recipients rose to the challenge to make sheets so our Daycare children could rest comfortably every day.

Amy Smith and Dina Cooper were a mother-daughter cot sheet sewing team. They have been members for over a year and have been volunteering since Amy’s daughter started pre-school. Amy says her motivation for volunteering comes from her love of “seeing not only my daughter, but other kids learn.” She also said that she and Dina “love helping take care of the kids and also knowing that her kids will feel cared for and are taken care of is enough positive reinforcement for volunteering here.” Amy and Dina both say their favorite part about being a member of the YMCA community is the values of the mission statement and seeing them carried out to the kids.

Cindy Gustafson put her sewing machine into overdrive when she heard of our need for cot sheets. Cindy says that she is motivated to volunteer because she “likes to assist wherever she can.” She cites her favorite part about being a member of the YMCA community is “the dedication to family values.” Just like her parents Nate Gustafson and Janna Stahl taught her, Cindy and her parents are instilling those same family values into her grandchildren, Nate and Janna.

ASHLEY VANDERVORT YMCA EMPLOYEE of the QUARTER Ashley has worked at the YMCA since she was a freshman in high school, but her journey here started in gymnastics where she took tumbling classes. Since then, she has worked in various departments at the YMCA, including Kids Zone, S.A.F.E., Youth Sports and Day Camp. Currently Ashley works at the Front Desk and is a Membership Service Specialist.

Ashley has been able to grow up at the Y and considers many of her co-workers to be like family and is lucky to say that she honestly is excited to go into work each day. Her favorite part of her job is being able to build relationships with the members. She loves hearing about their day, their grandkids, or trips they have taken. She also loves talking to all the kids after their practices when they come and get cookies from her.

Aside from her Y Family, she has a fiancé Marvin and a son Jax, who recently turned one. In her free time she enjoys shopping, working out and reading books with her son. Her favorite quote is “Live the life you love, love the life you live” and it really seems that she is doing exactly that!

(ages 65+) All members must pay a join fee (provided that membership does not lapse for 60 days). If upgrading your membership, the difference in the Join Fees will be charged. If a member rejoins within the 60 day grace period the member will be required to pay a prorated amount back to the last active membership date.

Monthly dues are deducted from checking, savings, or credit account. A service fee of $15 is charged for any returned draft. Membership cancellations require 10 business days written notice prior to draft date.
