FOOD AND DRINK FRANCHISES
I
f you ask people to name a franchise, there is a high possibility that they will reply with a food and drink franchise — and it’s no surprise. Food and drink franchises account for approximately 36% of the total franchises in the United States and yield 48% of the annual revenue of the U.S. franchise industry. Food and drink franchises also account for 65% of direct franchise employment opportunities.
FOOD AND DRINK FRANCHISES MAKE UP APPROXIMATELY 36% OF THE TOTAL FRANCHISES IN THE UNITED STATES. DESPITE SWEEPING NEW CONCEPTS AND TRENDS, FOOD FRANCHISES CONTINUE TO GROW AT AN UNPRECEDENTED SPEED.
The majority of the United States’ food and drink sales take place in commercial restaurants. According to Statista.com, full-service restaurant sales amounted to revenue of $254 billion, and limitedservice sales amounted to revenue of $222 billion in 2016. In 2018, the worth of the quick service restaurant (QSR) sector, also known as the limited service or fast food restaurant industry, rose up to $256 billion. After that, the retail, recreation, vending, and mobile vendors were the second-largest contributors to the food and drink industry, with sales of $70.82 billion. The smallest amount of revenue comes from bars and taverns.

WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST IN
FOOD AND DRINK
FRANCHISES
FACTORS THAT DRIVE THE FAST FOOD FRANCHISE INDUSTRY IN THE UNITED STATES Fast food companies manage restaurants where customers order and pay at the counter. These fast-food franchises must comply with federal and state requirements, including minimum wage, that affect operating costs. American fast-food franchises that have outlets in other countries follow different hygiene and quality regulations that may impact the quality of the products offered by the fast-food company. Different countries may also have varying regulations when it comes to packaging and labeling the products. For example, in the U.S., many fast-food franchises may include calorie information with their products, although this may be absent in other countries. In spite of the 2008 recession, the average consumer now spends even more on fast food, thanks to the low cost and convenience. Thus many fast-food franchises have been able to capitalize upon the recession by introducing new deals, in addition to already low-priced food items. Aside from this, taste still remains the most important factor for 94 percent of U.S. consumers. In spite of the warnings about the lack of nutritional quality offered in fast food menus, health concerns still take a back seat. As it stands, almost 83 percent of U.S. consumers eat at quick-service restaurants at least once a week. Because of the high amount of traffic in fast-food restaurants, franchises are opening up with lightning speed across the U.S. and the world. Based on 2018 data, the United States has an estimated 194,723 quick-service restaurant franchises outlets. 14 FRANCHISE CONNECT | SEP-OCT 2020

and advertising costs. And the hassle of ensuring quality control when you are operating solely. One downside of owning a franchise is its costs, which can be prohibitive to some. Investment in the food and drink industry can range from tens of thousands to millions of dollars. However, the biggest advantage is that your parent company provides you with a proven model for success as long as you put in the money and effort to get your franchise going.

chains in the eyes of the younger generation. With technologies like food blockchains, consumers get instant transparency and can access labeling information, straight from their smartphones. A 2018 survey found that approximately 12% of food and drink CFOs use blockchain technology, though this number will no doubt increase as awareness of the benefits of blockchain technology spreads across the entire food supply chain.
ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY
The global trade tensions since 2017 will continue this year, resulting in rising food and drink costs. The biggest case in point is the Chinese tariff war, which is not just creating excess supply but forcing down prices of food items like soybeans and pork. Although the U.S. food and drink market has been flooded with new concepts since the past decade, fastfood franchises continue to grow at an unprecedented pace and expand their reach in international locations. As such, McDonald's is the largest and most valuable fast-food company in the U.S., generating $38.5 billion in 2018. With a brand value of over $130 billion, McDonald's closest competitors, in terms of sales, were Starbucks with $45.8 billion, KFC with $17.2 billion, and Subway with $17.12 billion. Though McDonald’s may have the top spot when it comes to revenue, with over 37,855 outlets, it comes in third place in terms of store units globally, with Subway leading the race at 42,431 stores worldwide, with over 24,500 establishments in the United States alone. Although fast-food restaurants are most typically associated with the quick-service restaurant market, it was found that the most common QSRs are sandwich and deli restaurants, which make up 17.6 percent of the food and drink market's total unit share. PET FRANCHISES IN THE U.S.
W
ith the macroeconomic situation prevailing in the United States, the pet franchise industry is a popular topic among service providers, retailers, and marketers. All these professional operators fight for their footing in this era where information technology and ecommerce are rapidly taking over.
For the past decade, online traders who offer services and products related to pets have been advancing at a quick pace. However, the biggest players in the pet franchise industry have been embracing an omni-channel strategy in the past few years, which means that they have been pushing their sales both online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST IN
PET FRANCHISES billion on pets in 2019. Going back to the days of the Great Recession, the pet franchise industry was worth no more than $43 billion in 2008. These statistics clearly show how the economic downturn hasn’t affected the growth in this particular market. Today, millennials are one of the largest segments of the overall population of pet owners. Research shows that they are willing to spend more money on premium pet care services, food, and other related products.
OWNING A PET FRANCHISE IN THE U.S. If you love animals and are looking to open a new business, owning a pet franchise in the U.S. will enable you to enjoy the best of both worlds! Year after year, the U.S. pet industry has been growing immensely. While some pet franchises offer their services, others sell pet products. Here are some pet franchising categories to consider before you make your final informed decision:
Grooming Services You can own a pet franchise that offers simple grooming services such as a bath and tooth brushing to more advanced services like haircutting and pet manicures. To increase your profit margin, you can also own a franchise that sells grooming products such as tick sprays, tooth brushing kits, self-flushing litter boxes, etc. According to the APPA National Pet Owners Survey (2019-2020), Americans spent approximately $6.31 billion on general pet services in 2019.
Walking Services In this business, customers want their pet(s) to be walked at a certain time. Due to the rapid advancement in technology, today pet owners require service providers to share their pet’s location, pictures, potty updates, and more.
Sitting Services Owning a pet franchise that offers pet sitting services means that you will have to care for your clients’ pets while they are

The full scope of the pet franchise market is yet to be discovered. Along with pet food goods, the trade of non-food pet supplies has also been positively affected. With a new age of Bluetooth/Internet-connected and high-tech products, such as pet monitoring and tracking devices, sellers today are looking to expand the industry beyond eatables. Non-medical and veterinary pet care services are also evolving with advancement in technology. Cloud-based applications today can easily connect online service providers and pet owners, making communication simpler than ever. Online platforms that provide veterinary assistance also offer services such as in-home boarding and pet walking, which makes the entire process of owning a pet more convenient. The American Pet Products Association (APPA) conducted a National Pet Owners survey for 2019–2020 which revealed that 67% of households in the United States own at least one pet. It is estimated that U.S. citizens spent approximately $75.38
Owning a pet franchise that offers veterinary services, especially if you are a vet, will allow you to enjoy various benefits. You can generate earnings through pharmaceutical cost control, diagnostic cost management, equipment acquisition and more. As of 2018, $18.11 billion have been reported to be spent on veterinary care in the U.S.

away. Typical responsibilities might include feeding, brushing, and walking.
PETS OWNED BY AMERICANS
Retail Pet Shops
Americans spend a lot of money to care for
Retail pet shops can offer anything from basic pet supplies and pet food to expensive luxury items. The focus might be on a particular animal species or on many. Additionally, these stores can be either brick-and-mortar or online. According to the Packaged Facts 2019 report, 18% of retail sales of pet products in the U.S. were online. Moreover, they estimated that ecommerce in the pet franchise industry in the U.S. will grow to 23% by 2023. As the pet industry rapidly progresses, owning your own franchise business might just be the rewarding opportunity you have been seeking.
their animal family members. Here is a brief breakdown of the number of pets they own:
OTHER PET SERVICES Other pet franchising categories include training, waste removal, and photography services. Pet training requires a lot of patience, skill, and a deep love of animals. Waste removal services are offered to pet owners so that they don’t have to do this unpleasant task in their garden. Lastly, owners of furry children pay for beautiful pictures of them.
1. Freshwater fish – 139.3 million 2. Cats – 94.2 million 3. Birds – 20.3 million 4. Dogs – 89.7 million 5. Saltwater fish – 18.8 million 6. Small animals such as hamsters – 14 million 7. Horses – 7.6 million 8. Reptiles – 9.4 million
BOTTOM LINE With all the aforementioned information about the pet franchise industry in the U.S., we hope you found something worth your while! For those of you looking to own and run a pet-related business, there are many franchises to choose from. Moreover, the positive outlook for the pet industry’s future is one of the biggest reasons to invest. From professional grooming facilities and specialized boarding organizations to traditional pet retail stores, select a platform that is likely to thrive in the market! w
When we talk about pet food supplies, particularly high-end ones, they are edging closer to human food and taste buds. Labels that boast “high protein” and “grass-fed beef” recipes are more likely to sell. This sudden transformation of pet meals, however, reflects a much broader trend. Individuals go to great lengths to address the same needs they project onto their little animals. Millennials treat their pets as little humans and channel their freed-up energies toward their fur babies. Surprisingly, this is one of the biggest factors behind the rise in production of high-quality pet food. Pet ownership has skyrocketed in the past few decades, making pet franchises a lucrative business opportunity. With this trending business strategy, it’s best to invest in a pet franchise that is dedicated to offering the best-quality services and products for pets.

WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST IN A
FITNESS FRANCHISE Americans are becoming increasingly concerned over health and fitness, and this trend has become an opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in sports, gym, and fitness franchises. Over the past five years, the fitness franchise industry has benefited from public health campaigns that brought awareness about obesity, diabetes, and other health issues. As the public grows increasingly conscious of these facts, the number of fitness club memberships has soared. This larger demand has encouraged franchise expansion, and in response, many franchisers have, in a bid to create larger customer bases, offered more franchising opportunities.

GYM AND FITNESS MARKET GROWTH
WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST IN A
FITNESS FRANCHISE
The United States holds the largest health and fitness market share with 38,477 gyms with health and fitness clubs, growing at an annual rate of 3.6%, and the industry revenue growing at a slightly higher rate of 6.1% currently. Many of these clubs come under the umbrella of 1,800 fitness franchises located in the United States.

32 FRANCHISE CONNECT | SEP-OCT 2020
• About 20.8% of Americans have at least one gym membership, and experts estimate the number will double in the next decade. • In 2018, actual visits to the gym increased by 6.1 billion, which is a record high for the United States. • In 2018, the number of gym and health club memberships in the United States grew to 62.5 million — a rise from 60.9 million in 2017 — which contributed significantly to the industry growth. Many of these belonged to both traditional and boutique-style facilities. • Health and fitness club members use a club or studio for an average of 104 days per year. • Although the fitness club industry has a reputation of a high turnover rate, its average retention rate is 72.4 percent. • In 2018, Americans spent $33 per month on gym memberships. • One gym member spends an average of $517 on membership each year. These stats show that there is a lot of potential for even more growth, and gyms, sports, and health and fitness facilities need to step up and convince more people to join.
SPENDING ON SPORTS
The sporting goods market is a billion-dollar industry in the United States. Americans spent $56 on health supplements, $35 on athleisure clothing and accessories, $17 on health-conscious meal plans, and $14 on personal trainers in a month. This means an average American spent $155 on their personal health and wellness. Sales from sporting good stores account for $47 billion annually. In fact, in 2015, sporting good sales amounted to $64.8 billion. These items include athletic clothing, footwear, sports merchandise, and exercise equipment, but do not include recreational products like bicycles, RVs, snowmobiles, and pleasure boats.

significant increase in capital. For example, if a fitness franchise has been proven to be successful with 1,000 members, it becomes easier to expand it to 5,000 members without too much working capital. By starting a franchise, you don’t just get the benefit of a well-known brand but one that has a successful business model. 3. The Fitness Industry Is Growing. As mentioned above, the fitness industry is growing at an unprecedented pace and entrepreneurs can take advantage of the growing demand. Personal training and visits to the gym are fast becoming a necessity and not a luxury. This means there will be no shortage of demand any time in the next several years.
WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST IN THE FITNESS FRANCHISE IN THE US
4. Fitness Brands Are Relatively Less Expensive. Compared to several other franchising concepts, including the hospitality management industry, health and fitness franchises are typically less expensive. A franchiser can make an investment in small boutique gyms or fitness centers with as little as $50,000. On average, the initial investment cost for a fitness franchise is around $319,688, which is still less than other franchise options.
1. Fitness Franchises Are Market-Ready. One of the biggest advantages of starting a franchise is that most of the brand-related marketing is already built. All you need to do is to start your franchising effort rather than build your brand from scratch. When you already have an established brand, your fitness franchise only has to follow its rules, making client acquisition much easier. This allows club owners to focus on retaining their older clients, acquire new clients, and provide a unique health and wellness experience.
5. Fitness Clubs Have Recurring Revenues. One of the biggest incentives to invest in a fitness franchise is that health and wellness clubs generate recurring annuity-like revenues. In many other businesses, once customers pay for a product or service, they don't have any other financial commitment. However, when it comes to the fitness industry, members have to pay a monthly fee, irrespective of club use. Although a large number of people join a fitness club only for a short period of time, a higher percentage pay their monthly fee faithfully and visit the club month after month. For franchise owners, a consistent income source is one of the best deals when it comes to investing in a fitness franchise. The health and fitness industry is one of the most pivotal franchise opportunities, particularly with the increased awareness of staying fit. You can take advantage of this unprecedented demand by dipping your toes into a fitness franchise. w
In the United States, the fitness franchise results in a job for 60,000 people and more than 7,200 operations. In the past decade, membership and revenues have nearly doubled, and the industry shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. So, if health and wellness are your priority, investing in this franchise can be extremely lucrative for you.
2. Fitness Franchises Have a Proven Scalable Business Model. Once your fitness club is proven on a small scale, it can easily be expanded without a
ATHLETES INVESTING IN FITNESS FRANCHISES Professional athletes are actively investing in fitness franchises. Former Major League Baseball player Alex Rodriguez is a UFC Gym franchisee, who invested in the franchise because he wanted to prepare for life after baseball. Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson also came up with the boxing franchise Mike Tyson Academy, which advocated stress management. It should also be noted that athletes who have ventured into the fitness franchise industry have to perform due diligence before operating their businesses. To help them out, National Football League player Michael Stone cofounded the Professional Athlete Franchise Initiative (PAFI), which educates professional athletes to understand the world of franchising.

he number of aging baby boomers is constantly increasing, and the senior care and healthcare franchise Industry in the U.S. is benefiting greatly from this increase. Over the past five years, it has been estimated that the number of adults who are over 65 years of age will grow 3.6% annually, and their numbers might increase to 1.5 billion by 2050. The number of seniors is expected to increase to 81.2 million by 2040 in the U.S. alone. Estimates indicate that the senior care and healthcare franchise industry in the U.S. will be worth approximately $400 billion. Currently, there are approximately 6.5 million seniors who require assistance with their day-to-day routine activities. This number is expected to at least double in 2020. Due to advancements in technology and people’s health, people tend to live longer. Therefore, a lot of seniors are looking to maintain their independence while staying in the comfort of their own homes as long as possible. Franchise establishments that offer both non-medical and medical healthcare services enable older adults to do just that.

day, which makes all the hard work worth it. Knowing that you made a difference in a person’s life is an achievement in itself. Moreover, entrepreneurs get to work with other potential franchisees and welcome them into their system.
IS SENIOR CARE FRANCHISING RIGHT FOR YOU? For many entrepreneurs, senior care and healthcare franchising is a winning proposition on multiple fronts. franchise are well aware of the fact that they are investing their money in a proven business model. Here are some benefits of becoming a senior care franchisee to help you decide if it is right for you : ● The start-up process of opening a senior care business is quite simple. All you need to do is obtain the required certifications and go through the relevant training. ● When it comes to senior care franchising, there are some factors that help this industry trump some of the others in the market in terms of return on investment. Those factors include low start-up costs as compared to franchises that require loads of equipment or a brick and mortar store, franchisor-provided leads, and most important, quick start-up time. These factors allow senior care franchises to generate revenue at a relatively quicker pace. ● Senior care franchisees usually benefit from immense support of both their fellow franchisees and their franchisor, who want them to be successful. Their franchisor provides proper initial and ongoing training and helps them learn about the latest technology and marketing strategies. Therefore, as a senior care franchisee, you won’t have to face any challenges alone.

RIGHT FOR YOU Your success as a senior care and healthcare franchisee in the U.S. greatly depends on the brand you choose. Use the following steps to evaluate different brands to indentify one that is most likely to meet your lifestyle and financial and investment goals: ● Speak with various franchisees to get an estimate of how much revenue you might generate with them. Carefully review the item no. 19 of the franchise disclosure document. Moreover, study all types of fees involved, including penalty fees, advertising fees, postterm fees, continuing fees, and most important, initial fees. ● Next, carefully analyze the item no. 20 of the franchise disclosure document. This will give you information about the number of units that have been closed
and all the underlying reasons that caused the failure. Invest in a franchise with a high success rate. ● Study all the litigation involving the senior care franchise. A system that has a history of multiple litigations should be avoided. ● Find out about the support and training you will receive. This may include grand opening support, training (initial as well as ongoing), technology, and marketing. ● Businesses with a proven success and solid system and procedures in place tend to thrive. A smooth-running system allows a franchisee to be productive and effective. ● Learn about the reputation of the brand you are selecting. Consumers are usually more comfortable buying from companies that have a high-quality reputation. According to Franchise Grade, the senior care and healthcare industry in the U.S. has grown by approximately 65% over the past decade. These numbers clearly show how the industry has been booming. Numerous elderly Americans wish to remain in the familiarity and comfort of their own homes as they age. Thankfully, senior care and healthcare franchises are here to save the day! w
The senior care and healthcare franchise industry picked up steam back in the 60s and 70s with the support of government programs such as the National Institute on Aging. With the rapid increase in the number of senior Americans needing care, the senior care industry began gaining popularity. Furthermore, there was a noticeable improvement in the overall life expectancy. In 1965, Medicare, a federal government healthcare program, provided federal money to the elderly for home care. Since then, Medicare has remained the largest single source of revenue in services related to home health care. The revenue of the rest of the senior care healthcare franchise industry comes from Medicaid, out of pocket, private insurance, and monetary gifts from local governments. One change over prior decades was that by 2012, most of the franchises that offered senior care services became for-profit. In the same year, the senior care industry alone employed approximately 1.4 million people. These modifications and the importance of the industry itself caused it to expand as much as we see and benefit from today!

WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN THE
HOME SERVICE FRANCHISE
INDUSTRY EVEN DURING COVID-19 By Elizabeth Adams
T
he COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a never-before-seen condition of the economy during which almost all nonessential services have been closed down while essential services are running on a skeleton staff. There are some industries that have borne the brunt of the pandemic, like the restaurant, airline, movie theater, and live event industries. However, there are some industries that are more or less virus-resistant since their services are essential for everyday life. One such industry is the home service industry comprising businesses that offer services to residential homes, although some also cater to commercial businesses. These include the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC); landscaping; plumbing; flooring; appliance repair; and cleaning services.

WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN THE HOME SERVICE FRANCHISE INDUSTRY EVEN DURING COVID-19
Although unfortunate, this provides an opportunity for you as a mobility franchise which would be installing and selling senior aid appliances and fixtures like home elevators, wheelchair ramps, and custom railings. However, you won’t be limited to just setting up mobility products in homes. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, businesses are also directed to modify their facilities so that they can accommodate and provide convenience to people with disabilities. This opens opportunities for mobility franchises to enter into the commercial market.
WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST IN A HOME SERVICE FRANCHISE AMID COVID-19?
HOME SERVICE FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITIES
The United States home service industry market was worth $105.55 billion in 2018 and was expected to reach $219.07 billion by 2026. This suggests that things looked incredibly bright for the home service franchise. In fact, if you consider the residential remodeling niche, the unemployment rate was at a 30-year low, bookings had a healthy backlog, and customer confidence was at its peak. Hence, 2020 started with all the elements in the right place. With coronavirus in the equation, the market seemed to have slowed down. However, the construction and home design industries, with 66% and 56% of the companies respectively noting an overall positive outlook, are still looking at the bright side, and many believe that things will start to look up again for the home service industry by year end. Because businesses, particularly those on the construction side, remained strong in the months of January and February, and hence carried a healthy backlog for the second quarter, activities did not come to a halt in April, unlike many other less fortunate industries.
So what types of franchise opportunities are available for the home service sector?
48 FRANCHISE CONNECT | SEP-OCT 2020
Home Decor Franchises Some people may not consider home decor an essential service, but the market for it is huge. Home decor also constitutes an important service for daily life, including window coverings, door installation, and replacing or refinishing kitchen and bathroom appliances and fixtures. Your home is your sanctuary, and every room needs to be in proper working condition, especially during these times when people fear infection and prefer to remain behind closed doors. Mobility Franchises The senior housing industry has been hit particularly hard by COVID-19 because prospective investors cannot enter to inspect the property for fear of spreading infection to residents. This same concern is making families pull their loved ones from senior housing facilities and back into their homes and apartments.
Appliance Repair Franchises Since household appliances are used constantly, it is not surprising to see that even during lockdown, appliance repair companies are still working. This is becoming even truer as more and more Americans are conducting their businesses from home, resulting in increased wear and tear on appliances, including computers, cameras, kitchen appliances, etc. Search trends show that the appliance repair sector has seen almost no dip in Google search activities, though there is some concern about bringing a technician or a service person into your home. We will discuss how to allay these fears below. Plumbing Franchises Even though a lot of people have not been fixing less urgent plumbing issues during this time, there is an increased and consistent search trend for more specific plumbing services, including emergencies like drain repair and backed up toilets. As a plumbing franchisor, you will need to reevaluate your marketing strategies according to shifting consumer trends and redirect your advertising money toward channels that are more engaging to your customers. HVAC Franchises HVAC franchises accounted for 342,040 jobs as of May 2019, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the industry is expected to grow 14% by 2024. Even during times of pandemic, every home requires fully functioning HVAC systems. Now that summer is here, and many states in the country are preparing for the swelteringly hot seasons, more and more searches are being made for air conditioning repairs and maintenance. Since HVAC repairs and installation are an essential service, they will continue to be successful during the COVID-19 period.

MAJOR FACTOR DRIVING THE HOME SERVICE FRANCHISE INDUSTRY
Landscaping Franchises The landscaping industry comprises 93,000 companies in the U.S. alone and generates a revenue of $50 billion and employs over 900,000 people. As people are forced to stay home, they are now turning their attention toward landscaping projects like planting flowers; creating hardscapes like decks, patios, and gazebos; and leveling sidewalks to beautify their surroundings. Additionally, more essential and recurring services like mowing continue to provide opportunities to landscape franchises, although consumers may not opt for premium services during these poor economic times. Cleaning Franchises Common sanitation and janitorial services have seen a spike in business as a result of the novel coronavirus as more and more homes are ordering deep cleaning and disinfection services. The opportunity market is even bigger as janitorial services extend to the commercial sector as more and more businesses like offices, retail stores, manufacturing facilities, and gyms are opening up. What Franchises Can Do to Protect Employees and Clients from COVID-19 With growing concerns about contamination and risk of infection, it is important to keep your franchise locations clean and sanitary.
The virus spreads from droplets when a person coughs or sneezes; therefore, it is necessary to keep you and your franchise location clean. ● Always wash your hands when coming in or touching high-touch-point surfaces like door handles or using the bathroom. ● Since the germs are transmitted through the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, and eyes, train your employees to avoid touching their faces. ● Make sure to wipe down with disinfectants high-touch-point surfaces like door handles, smartphones, keyboards, refrigerator handles, and light switches. ● Place sanitizer and disinfecting wipes throughout your franchise location to help stop the spread of the virus. ● Encourage your employees to keep a distance of at least three feet from each other and from clients when making a home visit. ● No employee should be allowed to come to work with a fever. Consider allowing your employees to work from home, if it is possible. Bottom Line In times of uncertainty, look for opportunities in essential niche sectors that offer services that are essential for everyday life. It is important for franchises to make calculated decisions about their marketing campaigns as they can help determine the success of their business during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in the long run. w
Thanks to the rise in the adoption of smartphone and Internet penetration, customers can now acquire information and book home services on demand today. On-demand services act as intermediaries between offline and online services and provide you the required services when you need them. From booking home cleaning services to finding a landscaping service to ordering an inhome HVAC technician visit, technology has now allowed us to outsource many of the aspects of our everyday lives including home services.
The home service franchise industry is witnessing unprecedented growth, thanks to the adoption of technology. This technology not only helps to influence a franchise’s daily marketing strategies and business activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, but will continue to aid it in the long run. Owning our pet store franchise is rewarding and incredibly fun.
P
et Supplies Plus’ mission is to make it easier for pet parents to find better products and services for their pets and to become America’s favorite neighborhood store. Currently, we operate 480 stores in 34 states. There has never been a better time to join the recession-resistant pet industry; it has experienced year-over-year growth since 1994 and hit $75 billion dollars in 2019, including a whopping $480 million in pet Halloween costumes! Pet Supplies Plus has been ranked as the #1 franchise in the pet category for the last 6 years, was ranked #46 overall in 2019 by Entrepreneur Magazine, and was named to their Fastest Growing Franchise list. Our owners enjoy low royalty fees, an easy-toexecute business model, and best-in-class franchisor support, including inventory ordering; marketing support through market segmented, personalized direct mail and email; social brand building; in-store set up; and team training. We’ve identified several hundred
neighborhoods that can support a Pet Supplies Plus store with many neighborhoods being west of the Mississippi River. Pet Supplies Plus opened its doors in 1988 and began franchising its concept in 1991. Currently, we operate 262 franchised stores and 218 corporate stores and have more than 150 stores in development. In 2018, Pet Supplies Plus launched “You Click. We Fetch,” which allows our customers to buy online and pick up in store or have the item delivered so that we can meet our customers’ needs when and how they need us to. A strong Pet Supplies Plus owner has a passion for animals and those that love them, the ability to create strong connections within their community, and the ability to build strong store teams. We do ask that our candidates have $600,000 in total net worth with $200,000 of that being in liquid, unencumbered assets. Pet Supplies Plus is proud to support the VetFran program and offers a 20% discount to veterans.

Join the Clean Dog Revolution The First Wellness-Focused, Membership-Based Dog Grooming Franchise We’re Revolutionizing Dog Care
Traditional dog groomers focus on aesthetics and hairstyles. Yet, 8 out of the top 10 most popular dog breeds don’t need haircuts. While all dogs require routine maintenance in order to stay clean, comfortable and healthy, many don’t get the care they need either because their parents don’t know they need it, or because they can’t find a place that provides it. Scenthound is out to change that by giving all dogs --- not just those that need haircuts --- access to preventive grooming-related maintenance. Scenthound is a revolutionary dog care franchise that provides an inclusive grooming plan that takes care of their Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth (SCENT), with optional services on an as-needed basis, to keep pups healthy and avoiding health concerns later down the line.
We’re Passionate About Pups
Scenthound locations -- Scenters -- put education front and center. The moment a customer walks in with their pup they see an entire wall full of information about dog health and how routine care leads to happier outcomes for their furry friends. Pet parents learn how dog grooming is so much more than just a new hairstyle. Our monthly membership plans break down the barriers to routine dog care – making clean, healthy dogs a priority. Parents choose the option that works for their budget and their schedule, keeping their dog’s health on track and building a strong customer relationship through repeat business.
Scenters are located in errand-intensive shopping areas and basic monthly visits are completed in under 30 minutes so it’s very convenient for dog parents to avail themselves of our services. The bottom line: we make grooming Fast, Easy and Affordable. The franchise’s simplified model captures a huge underserved market, building a dedicated customer base. It keeps pups feeling great, customers coming back, and franchisees well ahead of the curve.
We’re Looking for Dog-Lovers Like You - Ready to Join the Pack?
The initial investment for a Scenthound franchise ranges between just $206,400 - $378,400 including a franchise fee of $50,000.
