Page 1

Eating is a necessity of life that must be met so that people can maintain their life. When this need is not met, then the body would be limp and suffer various illnesses or even death. There are people prefer to eat foods that have a spicy flavor. Spicy taste is attached to the tongue - the tongue of most people.

But sometimes after enjoying the spicy food, heartburn sets in. Heartburn in the stomach happens when digestive acids from the stomach flows up and goes into the esophagus and causes burning sensation therein. Thus, heartburn is a form of indigestion felt as a burning sensation in the chest, caused by acid regurgitation into the oesophagus

Other symptoms of digestive acids, also known as acid reflux include bloating, frequent flatulence and even seemingly unrelated symptoms like chronic dry cough, sour or bitter taste in the mouth while eating, difficulty in swallowing, hoarseness, and shortness of breath.

Consequently, you may have to visit the toilet frequently, sweat profusely and of course this will hinder your work or study at school.

Actually, to relieve heartburn in the stomach one doesn’t have to use drugs. You start by becoming accustomed to healthy habits as follows: 1. Avoid eating too fast Rushing your food is not good for digestion because when we eat quickly, the stomach has to work hard to digest the food intake and consequently there will be heartburn. In addition, eating too quickly also leads to obesity without you realizing it.

2. Limit acidic and spicy foods intake Foods such as pickles, mustard, vinegar, chocolate, excessive tea or coffee and citrus fruits or juices, carbonated beverages, spicy foods are also known to increase acidity in your body. Ensure consumption in a controlled amount.

3. Stay away from raw salad Salad is rich in vegetables making it suitable for a diet but keep in mind, you should avoid eating raw salads that contain lots of onions, cabbage or turnip because these vegetables can produce gas in the body and slow digestion performance, resulting in bloating in the stomach.

4. Consumption of bananas Bananas are known to have certain qualities that help fight acidity and heartburn. Bananas are a natural antacid that works to cure digestive symptoms such as heartburn and ulcers. Make it a habit to eat one fruit every day.

5. Drinking water Our body contains a large percentage of water. Water aids digestion as it serves as lubricant when the food goes into the digestive tract. Therefore, consume at least 10 glasses of water per day.

6. Avoid eating before bedtime Well, if you still feel eating something, you can try to relieve heartburn by eating foods such as watermelon, almonds and cucumber. You can also enjoy mint juice after dinner
