Ten Thousand Saints TEN THOUSAND SAINTS is a novel well worth reading. AIDS, homelessness, gentrification, parenthood, adoption, and drug use are among the many topics incorporated in the book. The author does a great job of bringing the late 1980's in the East Village to detailed life and the choices of the kids and parents in the book will linger in the reader's memory. And the book ends with a very appropriate and effective postscript from 2006 on the last night the famed punk venue CBGB's was open.
The Best of Me
I really liked this book. I know some say it was predictable, but I disagree. It had me guessing and making predictions the entire book, up until the end when I started to piece together what may happen. I would recommend reading this if you like Nicholas Sparks.
The Collaborator: A Thriller Seymour is one of my favorite authors, but I was slow to read this book. His last couple books had disapointed, and this one sounded like a re-hash of his earlier book Killing Ground. But The Collaboroator turned out to be Seymour's best book in some years. The style is very much reminiscent of his earlier books from the 1970s and '80s and is more of a tightly plotted thriller than his more recent books like Timebomb or The Walking Dead, which were tedious, slow, strangely structured, and anti-climatic. The plotting and supsense here are tight. The characters, including Italian law enforcement officers, an American hostage negoitator, the Camorra members, and the young women who will give evidence against her criminal family, are the best of Seymour's more recent books and refreshing and much more convincing than the large number of generic MI6 people and Islamic terrorists who have populated the last few books. Only problem is that the book is way too long for such a fairly simple, small scale story with a small cast of characters. Cutitng the narrative down a bit would have made a much tighter, faster story, but The Collaborator is still Seymour's best book in years and hopefully his next book will follow this style. It's rare to find an intelligent, realistic, well-written, entertaining thriller these days, so thankfully Seymour, after a couple duds, is still doing it.
Monster Frank Peretti has written some really remarkable books, including "This Present Darkness", and his writing style is always enjoyable to read. That said, this book is not as deep nor profound as some of his other works, but because it is a book that is fun to read and hard to put down, I recommend it as the kind of light reading we like to enjoy in the summer months at the beach.
Prophet Through the investigation of the death of his father, John Barrett discovers his true calling. He seeks the truth with greater vengeance as he uncovers the plot behind his fathers death and the politcal corruption that is brought to light as he begins to understand who his father is. This book is one of mystery and intrigue and I found myself enjoying this book more than This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness simply because the characters were narrowed down to a few instead of the many incorporated in the other two. And I must agree with other reviewers that this was brilliantly executed although I would have liked to see more of the relationship between the main character and his son Carl. Though John Barrett knows his future and begins in his own way to prepare his son, the question is raised will son Carl pick up where dad and granddad left off? Only God knows.

Illusion
See, there is a Mandy, and the mental ward has been keeping an eye on her, until she finds a way to get out of there. Now, this Mandy thinks the year should be 1970, and thinks she's 19 years old. But discovering that things aren't what they appear to be, Mandy lives in this world, and picks up a gig at a coffee shop, and shows off some magic that she has up her sleeve. And then a man walks into that coffee shop, only to be reminded of his beloved wife! What is this? What's going on here? Well, what's going on is that Dane begins talking to this young prodigy, learning about her, growing to love her, as a mentor, despite the age being obvious. And oh yeah, they are being watched, and they are being watched carefully. Just thought you should know. I also thought you should know that Frank Peretti continues to amaze me! What an illustration he puts together, and he dazzles his audience! Frank Peretti has a treat for his fans this time around. Don't you dare think otherwise. If you do, you're missing some of the best there is to offer in fiction in 2012, and you really don't want to miss that, do you? So you possibly thought, like I did, that Peretti lost his touch after "Monster" emerged? Never fear! He's back, and I just experienced it. Peretti deserves his applause, and all the glory to God!
In the Shadow of the Crown: The Tudor Queens This is an absorbing story of one woman's struggle to survive the vicissitudes of life, the feckless love of her father, the King, the political intrigues of her day, the threat of imprisonment and death, and a loveless and childless marriage to Phillip of Spain. It is the story of a woman whose road to the throne was paved with many obstacles, and her ultimate acquisition of the crown would confer little happiness upon her. It is a spellbinding account of a life lived entirely in the shadow of the crown.
Lord of the Shadows In book 11 of the Cirque Du Freak series (or the saga of Darren Shan) time has passed since Harkat and Darrens journey in book 10. Now working at the cirque where does the luck of the vampires lead him? Back to his home town! Darren is faced with difficult decicions, familiar friends, horrible truths, death and shocking events... I highly recommend this book.
Freudian Slip I absolutely LOVED this book. I must admit that it isn't normally something I would have read but being a big fan of Erica Orloff's I of course picked it up. The whole story is fantastic! I really enjoyed the whole idea of soul mates, do they exist and are they meant to be for real or only a dream of one. The ending was great and not entirely expected because I thought it might go in a different direction but either way would have been fine with me. I laughed out loud trying to imagine Albert Einstein in a bar listening to ABBA and the thought of a female higher power was a good idea too. I look forward to the next wonderful book by Ms. Orloff.
Goddess With a Blade I absolutely loved this book but Lauren is one of my favorite authors so I am not surprised. She is fantastic at world building and this book did not disappoint mixing Vampires with Celtic mythology into a very creative package!! The characters are also well developed and extremely interesting (not to mention Clive is HOT!!). Rowan is a member of the Hunter Counsel as well as a vessel of the Celtic Goddess Brigid. She is a straightforward, kick ass, loud mouth that doesn't take crap from anyone. I loved her and she had me cracking up the whole book. Clive on the other hand is the new vampire Scion of Las Vegas. He is a
little uptight and very business like but Rowan gets under his skin which leads to a very explosive but HOT relationship between the two. There are also a lot of very interesting secondary characters that I would love to see more of also.

God of War I found myself skipping pages after pages where the author has described every single move Kratos makes while killing Harpies or minotaurs. It felt like the author has written book while playing the game. This is not what I wanted to read. I played the game. I didn't want to read about it too. What I expected instead, was to read the story behind Kratos. About Kratos, Zeus, Athena, Kronos, Hades, Gaia, etc. Thats what I wanted to read. Not how Blades of Chaos kept slashing left and right, page after page after page. This is my first time reading a book of either of the authors. Book's well written. But it simply does no justice to the great story behind Kratos. There is soo much more. I'm still hoping someone would do justice to this great game with the pen.
Good as Dead Good As Dead has two things going for it then that help it rise above just being an average crime procedural. On the one hand, you have a character like Thorne, who reacts like most people would in relation to what happens here and occasionally has moments when he would like to take the law into his own hands (and the reader would love to see him do it), but he knows, on balance, just how far to push this. Secondly, Billingham orchestrates events brilliantly, even in a regular investigation and a siege situation, bringing the resolution around to an immensely satisfying conclusion. You really can't ask for more than that
Grace Despite the terrible and shocking nature of Grace and Kerr's world, Grace is a beautiful story of how two different people from two very different backgrounds learn to see each other for who they really are and are able to look past the stereotypes of their pasts and people to come together and find a common goal: discovering the purpose of life, achieving freedom, redemption, and ultimately, grace. This is by far Scott's most powerful and galvanizing book yet, proving her to be a flexible and exceedingly talented writer. Grace is a book that demands to be devoured in one sitting, but read time and time again.
Griffin's Destiny All I can say is that Griffin's Destiny is an excellent and suspenseful ending to a fantastic triology. The writting is clear, discriptive, and imaginative. And the storytelling is superb!!!
Griffin's Shadow Griffin's Shadow is a masterfully crafted fantasy adventure which immerses readers in it's characters and wonderfully created universe. Once again, Moore seamlessly weaves in issues of prejudice while advancing the story. Most of the story arcs are left open at conclusion of this novel.

Hidden Threat It was a great book in the Tom Clancy genre of thrillers. I really like the characters of the two brothers Zach and Matt. They represent the best of America the great men and women who are serving in our armed forces around the world keeping us safe. It was a good story that was hard to put down.
Disappearing Nightly Laura Resnick creates the oddest assortment of characters to investigate a series of disappearances that occur onstage during a magician's act. Women (and one tiger) are disappearing regularly right at the peak of the illusion act involving a vanishing box. The magician's vary- from Joe the perpetually nervous, to Darling Delilah, a drag queen, to the Great Hidalgo who is actually Barclay the stockbroker, to Duke the rhinestone cowboy, to Goudini who is only worried about the return of his tiger, Alice. Esther Diamond is the central figure in the story who narrowly escapes being one of the disappearing acts when Max, a 350 year old alchemist, contacts her to warn her not to continue with the act. Max is a member of the Magnum Collegium, a consortium of true magicians who fight Evil. Esther, together with Max, the aforementioned magicians, and several other unusual characters band together to investigate the disappearances. Meanwhile, Esther herself is a suspect in the Detective Lopez's investigation as she was the understudy to Golly Gee (yes, that was her real name!) when Golly Gee disappeared. This is a cheesy but fun story and I am looking forward to what Resnick will do with the next installment in the series.
Dolmarehn This book was simply impossible to put down. Much better written than the first book in the trilogy. The author manages to weave a rich and magical story without getting bogged down in excessive details. I am looking forward to the third book.
Faelorehn: Otherworld Trilogy At the age of two, she was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles in an extremely dangerous section of the city. I empathized with her right away, wondering what kind of parents she had who would lose their toddler in such a large city! She is found and later adopted. Her parents have five boys after adopting her, and Meghan never feels like she truly fits in anywhere. She loves her parents and her brothers but feels a bit out of place because she doesn't look like them. I liked that conventional methods (numerous psychiatrists and medications) were attempted to relieve her nightmares, visions, hallucinations, and voices she hears. This made her situation realistic to me, and for a while, those all went away. Meghan's backstory is unique and different from other books I've read, which made the entire book so interesting and hooked me right away.
Fat Vampire: A Never Coming of Age Story While the story never reaches the point of being compelling, I still give it 5 stars because it was just so entertaining. The humour reminded me a bit of Libba Bray's recent Going Bovine and I think they will find some of the same fans. The ending was unique and unexpected and though I think it will annoy some people, I thought it was brilliant. This is one for older teens due to quite a bit of language and the fact that Doug and Jay talk and think about sex a lot. Recommended for teens and adults eager for a new take on the whole vampire mythology.

Beaten, Seared, and Sauced: On Becoming a Chef at the Culinary Institute of America "Beaten, Seared, and Sauced" is a fast, fun read. And for those of us who dread the ubiquitous "my life, the early years" portions of a memoir...you know, where the author moves away...far away...from the topic we are interested in and tells us all about his happy years with Lad the Labrador, or about Great Grandfather Spencer, noted Civil War General, or how Uncle Zbazo escaped the Great Massacre (who cares which one, there is always a great massacre going on somewhere, stay with me)... Dixon spares us this. He sticks to the topic the way a good chef should stick to the recipe. After reading the book, you'll have a new respect for those brave line cooks with the burn scars obscuring the best part of their tattoos...
Black-Winged Tuesday Black-Winged Tuesday is hilarious, daring, intellectually and sexually arousing, and highly imaginative. It skillfully examines delicate dichotomies (like good and evil, heaven and hell, and religious belief and a lack thereof) without judgment, which stance allows for an uncommonly nuanced exploration of the continuum and relationship between each, with incredibly unexpected results. The dialogue is fluid, and the scene descriptions are superbly vivid - which makes the exceptionally intense, unorthodox eroticism blushworthy (in all the right places).
Dangerous Ground Medically disqualified naval aviator "weasels" a lateral transfer to the sub fleet and meets a lot of resistance from the noncoms and officers who made subs a first choice rather than a fallback. In amongst all the technical aspects of this book which serves to actually enhance interest is a study in small group leadership, VERY similar to the canned scenarios that junior military officers study in their professional development schooling. It is good stuff if you aren't familiar with leadership dynamics in the services. This young officer works hard to catch a break with the crew, but also brings a very unique set of skills to the boat that will prove invaluable! The bigger story however is the covert mission this sub is on to retrieve data from just off the Russian coast. Made more difficult by the presence of two attractive female scientists, one of which, has overall mission responsibility (read: command authority). What they discover in the icy Russian waters is shocking and not what they expected and those wily Russians are willing to literally kill to protect the secret. Great little undersea adventure with lots of character development thrown in for good measure!
Dead Centre The new Nick Stone thriller from the bestselling author of Bravo Two Zero. January 2005: Nick Stone is in tsunami hit Banda Aceh on a job to retrieve incriminating evidence of an oil deal. When looters arrive a fight breaks out and a man, Mong, is killed. Nick makes a promise to his dead friend to protect his widow, Tracey. March 2011: Nick is in Moscow filling his days at a private gun range when he is lifted by heavies and taken to meet an oligarch. The oligarch wants Nick to track down his kidnapped wife and son. It transpires that the oligarch has married Tracey and so Nick is given the opportunity to fulfil his promise to Mong. Nick follows the trail from Mogadishu to Nairobi, from Courchevelski to Bristol, on a mission to unravel this complex and explosive plot. He eventually tracks down Tracey and her son and leads a rescue mission, all guns blazing, only to find that Tracey is dead and the boy is missing.
Dead Zero: A Bob Lee Swagger Novel The opening scene is a younger version of Swagger, a Marine sniper named Cruz, on the hunt with his faithful spotter for a bad guy, beginning in the hills of Afganistan. Hunter's character development is wonderful and the subplots are skillfully woven as the action moves around the world. The writing is superb in the early pages, it seems you can smell the goats and their detritus. Strange it is, how Pulitzer winners are able to write so well. In any case, it is a great book from a great writer.

Afterwards The narrative twist might not work quite so well this time around for some, feeling a little more manipulative in its tone, Grace's motherly instincts coming across just a little bit over-solicitous and middle-class mumsy, but she does at least have good reason for her concerns and the narrative device makes it work. The 'out of body' experience allows those concerns to be expressed in a much more personal way, touching on the whole range of niggling voices, insecurities and fears of a mother in a compelling and sympathetic manner. As a result Afterwards manages, after Sister, to be another incredibly tense and suspenseful thriller, the whodunit element handled expertly through an unusual narrative perspective that nonetheless does not feel as manufactured as most thrillers of this type. It also carries within it a real, powerful emotional core with a punch at the end that will literally leave you gasping for breath.

How to Create the Next Facebook: Seeing Your Startup Through, from Idea to IPO English | ISBN: 1430246472 | 2012 | 208 pages | PDF, EPUB | 5 MB In just under a decade, Facebook has gone from a Harvard prodigy's dorm-room experiment to an essential part of the social life of hundreds of millions of children, teens, and adults across the globe. It's no surprise, then, that the company has been the subject of countless magazine articles, books, and even movies. But despite the extensive coverage that has been given to the company in the years since founder Mark Zuckerberg first took Facebook live on Harvard's server, one question remains unanswered: From a business standpoint, how, exactly, did Facebook do it? How did a college student with no real-world business experience take a relatively simple idea and then, less than ten years later, turn it into a $100 billion dollar company? What specific steps did Facebook take along its journey to creating perhaps the most innovative startup of the 21st century? What approach did it take when pitching venture capitalists, and how did it go about forging its many strategic partnerships? And, most importantly, how can would-be founders learn and effectively utilize Facebook's unique techniques and strategies in their own startup efforts? In How to Create the Next Facebook, tech guru Tom Taulli answers all of these questions and more, crystallizing the process by which Facebook was shepherded from idea to IPO to provide a guided blueprint for budding entrepreneurs who are ready to start building their own great business. Regardless of what stage of development your startup is in, How to Create the Next Facebook provides you with clear, compelling, and ultimately actionable advice extracted from Facebook's startup success story. You'll learn how Facebook handled the very same situations your startup is confronting—from how it arrived at its mission statement to what its priorities were during its talent search process—before gaining access to all the concrete, practical guidance you need to make the right decisions for your company and continue moving forward with confidence. And, of course, because Facebook didn't get everything right at first, author Tom Taulli painstakingly details the company's most costly mistakes, documenting everything from its protracted legal struggles to its many failed attempts at establishing multiple revenue streams, so that you can arm your company against the various challenges that threaten to sink even the very best startups. By the time you turn the final pages of How to Create the Next Facebook, you'll realize that Facebook is more than just a fun place to catch up with old friends; it is the ideal model to follow for those who, like you, are ready to build the world's next great startup. What you’ll learn After reading this book, you will be able to: Capitalize on the Facebook phenomenon and understand how top startups are built. Avoid the most common pitfalls that cripple young ventures and improve your startup's chances at long-term success. Uncover innovative ways to boost your startup's growth and learn the importance of developing
multiple revenue streams. Understand the startup financing process, from angel funding to the IPO. Protect yourself, your company, and your intellectual property from the competition. Create a sustainable and profitable company with long-term growth prospects.

After downloading the file(s), you will find that most are saved in ZIP format or in .RAR format, if you do not have the program to open these .RAR files on your computer (eg; Winzip.com) here are two programs you can get for FREE: http://www.jzip.com/ or http://peazip.sourceforge.net/index.html
Here is a great program that the members found..... 'Calibre' will convert mobi to pdf, it will convert epub to pdf or mobi, or pdf to epub or mobi. You can use this program to convert to whatever you ereader format you need. Best of all, it's FREE!!!! http://calibre-ebook.com/download_windows In case you don't want to download Calibre. This online (no need to download) program does the same job and it's really easy to use when you want to convert MOBI and ePUB files: http://ebook.onlineconvert.com/convert-to-pdf Open .epub files on your PC!
If you find an epub file and would like to open and read it on your computer, then use the firefox browser and simply download the following add on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/ Once you have done this, you can read all those extra books that are only in epub format... easy! Note: Program to open comics (.cbr files) If you would like to read the comics you will need to open .cbr files. The is a free program that will allow you to read them. Go to http://comical.sourceforge.net/ and download the program (links are in the bottom right panel). Save the program to your computer, then, once downloaded, double click on it and install the program Note for Movie Downloaders: Some movies, after downloading, will not play on 'Windows Media Player' (for example, you can hear sound but no video!), so we suggest that you download an extra player like 'Gom Media Player' (http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html) or 'Real Player/ (http://www.real.com/realplayer). Both are free to use!. Once you have downloaded the movie, simply 'right click' on the movie file and 'open with' the player of your choice Extra Note for .MKV Movie Files: If you find a movie in .MKV format where GOM Player will play the movie but has no soundtrack, try a different FREE .MKV player, like this one: http://mkv-player.en.softonic.com/download
Zipped files are easy to open. Simply click on the book links, taking you directly to the download page. Click on the 'Free User' button (each host is a little different, but all offer free download, you just have to wait a few seconds!), click the download button and your book will start to download. Once fully downloaded, your computer will ask you if you want to OPEN or SAVE the file. We suggest that you first SAVE the file to a place on your computer, eg; My Documents. Once you have done this, you can easily find the file, and by clicking on it, it will open. You will then see all the smaller files inside. You can either select all of these at once (click on the top one, then hold down your SHIFT key while you click on the bottom one, then click EXTRACT. It will then ask you where to save the files to (we suggest My Documents for now unless you have already created a new folder and place you would like to keep them). The programme will then save the files. If you prefer, You can also OPEN the file straight away. It will then start to gradually load the file. Once it is ready (100% loaded), you can then click OPEN again, and you will see all the smaller files in the box. Select one or ALL of these files, and click the 'EXTRACT TO' link. You will then be given a choice of places you can save the UNZIPPED files.
