So Yesterday So Yesterday is an excellent book. If you love details and interesting twists and turns, this is the book for you. The main character is Hunter he views commercials and looks for new fads in fashion, technology, anything. The he meets Jen, a risk taking innovator, he met her while taking pictures of her shoelaces. She leads Hunter on a wild goose chase to figure out where his missing boss went. When they find her phone, things really get interesting. This book is fast-paced so pay attention and remember every detail, it will come in handy later.

Specials (The Uglies) Being a special, bring a new and beautiful aspect to the life of Tally. She feels abnormal, everything she sees has a simple and somewhat- crystallic beauty to it. Everything shimmers with loveliness and grace and beauty- life is unreal now, that Tallys a special.

Sleep with the Fishes Sid Bifulco had been a hit-man for the Palfuttis mob family. He turned all he knew in to the police for amnesty. Instead of Witness Protection, he served his short term and then retired to the Delaware Valley. His next eggs kept him from poverty and let Sid indulge in the hobby he took up during prison, fishing!

Shiverton Hall Arthur has no time to worry about the strange coincidence. He is too busy trying to make head or tail of Shiverton Hall, dogged as it is by tales of curses and bad fortune. At least there are a few friendly faces: George, who shows him around also Penny and Jake. But not all the faces are friendly. There are the bullying Forge triplets for starters. And then there is the acid tongue of the headmistress, Professor Long-Pitt, who seems to go out of her way to make Arthur's life a misery.

Shadow Hunt I adore the Shadow world (all the books and novellas) and I adore Erin Kellison’s writing. This is novella #3 in the Shadow Touch series and Cam and Ellie are dealing with the mages this time. This is a much darker story than the previous two. Shadow seems to be consuming Cam more and more and Ellie has questions about their relationship and how her shadow self fits in. Shadow Hunt starts out fast and hard and the suspense doesn't stop.

Reign of Beasts Reign of Beasts is the final in a trilogy, and won't make sense by itself, so if you haven't read the first two novels, read them first. The novel is a worthy conclusion to the story, the characters believable, the world vividly imagined and well described. A dark, edgy fantasy, with a very original world.

Pretties (The Uglies) Then the long wait for Pretties began. I checked Amazon regularly and ran out to buy it as soon as it hit the shelves, and I read the whole thing the night I bought it. It's not quite as exciting as Uglies, because all the really big revelations have already been unveiled. I liked the characters a lot better this time around. Their dialogue felt a lot more believable. There are some pretty thrilling close-shaves and a few plans that don't go perfectly, which is refreshing and real.

Oodles of Poodles (A Pet Rescue Mystery) Lauren is on hand to observe a movie that stars oodles of poodles, a movie about rescued poodles no less. Also on hand are Lauren's friend, veterinarian Carlie Stellan and Grant, a handsome representative from the American Humane Association. They are all there to insure no animals are hurt or in danger during the movie production.

Left for Dead I have read all of J.A. Jance's books in the Beaumont, Brady, and Reynolds series, and I think this is the best of the Ali Reynolds series. After having just read several Janet Evanovich books, reading Jance again was pure joy! Jance, as usual, has continued to develop her characters well, especially the protagonists, and this book is no exception.

Most of the action in this book takes place in the Tucson area rather than the Sedona area. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery.

Heron's Cove I've read Carla Neggers' books for many years, and this one is one of the best. When I feel as if I'm getting back together with old friends in a new situation, I enjoy the reunion and the new treatments.

Harvest Harvest not only conjures up Canterbury tales, but also biblical images, as one would expect from Crace, who probably best can be described as a spiritual atheist. For, in the end, this is a story about the garden, its original inhabitants, how they went wrong, and how their sons and daughters have been repeating essentially the same mistakes ever since, always starting from the same blank slate.

Hand of Evil Jance does it again with the third installment of her Ali Reynolds series. Reynolds was "cut loose" from her previous job and her previous marriage in the beginning of the series. She started writing a blog on the Internet and soon she was connecting with fans and other people who were experiencing things similar to her. Being an investigative journalist positions her to investigate missing people, and a host of other things. This series is contemporary with the use of the Internet and current technology.

Fragments I called PARTIALS, the first book in the Partials Sequence, ‘the first truly great dystopian debut of the year!’ in 2012, and FRAGMENTS is even better. So much so that I’m calling the Partials Sequence one of the best dystopian series since The Hunger Games. The medical thriller elements are just as prominent as in the debut, and while the concepts became necessarily more complex, I found them to be more easily comprehended this time. We learn more about the geneticists who created the Partials, how and why they were made, and how the RM virus that attacks humans is connected to the expiration date for Partials. Not to mention Kira’s unique role and explanation for her existence.

Firelight

Absolutely fantastic. I am absolutely stunned by this book. I am shocked that this is Ms. Callihan's debut because it read like it was written by a seasoned author. I raced through this book. I was absolutely spellbound and hooked by this book. I loved Miranda and Ben and their chemistry leapt off the pages. Their exchanges were witty and poignant and romantic and when they finally confessed their love, I was all atwitter. I *loved* this Beauty and the Beast retelling.

Fatal Error Ali Reynolds takes a six-week-long course at the Arizona Police Academy. Considering she is fortysomething and female, that alone would be a challenge, but she's also taking the 6 a.m. shift at her family's restaurant while her parents are on a cruise. Brenda Riley is a colleague from Ali's old broadcasting days. She has an alcohol problem and tells Ali a story about a missing fiance that just doesn't sound right.

Extras (The Uglies) This book was amazing!! I was a little hesitant when I heard it wasn't about Tally, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The characters are well written and likable. You find yourself falling into the story, and you cannot put it down until you turn that final page. The end left me yearning for more and I really hope he writes another.

Edge of Evil: A Novel of Suspense J.A. Jance seems to be probing the possibility of a new series in EDGE OF EVIL. Alison Reynolds is fired from her job as a news anchor and starts a blog about her firing and her intentions to fight it. As the book develops, the blog expands to include the investigation of her best friends death, ALS and domestic violence. A large cast of characters is introduced and several loose ends are left, leaving the possibility of a sequel or more. Worthwhile reading, although lacking the detail of Jance's other series.

Deadly Stakes Another J A Jance winner. I always hate to see the end of the book, I love her characters. The only negative thing I can say, there is just too much time between books.

Darkness Haunts Darkness Haunts isn't a light-hearted urban fantasy. Melena's parents died when she was young, her foster parents died when she was a teen, and she watched her guardian (another Sensor) murdered by a powerful Nephilim. She joined the army right out of high school and spent her service right in the thick of a war zone. Any day, she could be discovered by a supernatural being and killed. And to top it all off, the Nephilim who murdered her guardian keeps popping up and reminding her that eventually he's going to kill her too.

Dark Winter The twists and turns of this plot were excellent and surprising. I can honestly say, this is the most unique motive that I've ever seen assigned to a serial killer. I did forget some characters' names a couple of times, but that's really my fault (and the fault of an eBook format, so that I couldn't flip back.) It was easily figured out, though. But this is a rather intricate plot, so you do need to pay a little attention. And, the plot moves, so you don't get bored, and you really don't want to put down The Dark Winter until you have the solution!

Cruel Intent Ali Reynolds (divorcee and single mother) is having her Sedona home renovated and finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. Bryan Forester, her contractor, is the prime suspect in his wife's (Morgan) death, and only Ali believes in his innocence (after all she was blamed for her ex-husband's death). While uncovering clues to Morgan's death (which involve a single's dating site) and cheating spouses, Ali also deals with a well meaning mother (Edie), an ex-lover/Detective (Dave Holman) who is convinced of Bryan's guilt, her son's pending marriage, the construction of her house, a serial killer, and the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays (of which she has promised to host and prepare dinner for her entire family).

Calculated in Death I read everything from Nora Roberts, so this one was on the list. Good read, even after all of the In Death reads, she adds enough new to keep them interesting and fresh. I like how all the characters have evolved and continue to grow with every book. I will regiment this to friends.

Cinderella in Skates Natalie Melter hates that her family made her leave sunny Arizona to move to Wisconsin but she’s even more upset that her dad, a former hockey player, tells her that she can move back to Arizona in the summer only if she makes her school's hockey team. Natalie doesn't know the first thing about standing up on a pair of ice skates, but life in snowy Wisconsin is about to get a whole lot more interesting when the cute college hockey player next door decides to teach her the sport he loves.

Beauty Awakened

The book starts off with a young Koldo at the age of 7 years old. This was by far the most heartbreaking chapter I have ever read. A little boy starved for his mother's attention and love and getting nothing but hatred and abuse in return. No matter what he did to please her, she hated him and punished him more. We finally learn what happened to Koldo's wings and I sat here with a box of tissues balling me eyes out through this chapter. We also find out who his father is and I just can't decide who was worse, his mother or father. I finally decided they were both just as equally horrible. Poor Koldo!

A Woman of Bangkok Imagine that you find, in the pile of used books that gather dust in the corners of any guesthouse, an old novel about Thailand. On the cover you see a lurid illustration of a vaguely Asian woman reclining on a divan, wearing a low-cut gown slit up to her hip bone, while a Caucasian male figure leers at her through a bead-curtained doorway. In most cases you'd be right to assume that this will be just another childishly written fantasy of some sex tourist with a word processor and too much free time, and throw the book against the wall.

The Americans I have finally summed up enough time and courage to put myself to read through all the volumes in the "Kent Family Chronicles". I frankly don't know what took me so long to try and read them. Instead of resuming each book individually, I thought I'd gather all books into one single review and say that it has been perhaps the most entertaining time of my life.

Strange Forces Morgan Taylor is convinced. He couldn't deny that a small lizard-like monster was rapping on his bedroom window, asking for help. A real monster, just outside his window.

The Tinkerers: The Amateurs, DIYers, and Inventors Who Make America Great Published: 2013-01-01 | ISBN: 0465009239 | PDF | 224 pages | 3 MB Having completed her transition from a manufacturing economy, America – it is said – has stopped making things. When there are breakthroughs in engineering and design, it’s usually thanks to a team of corporate researchers trying to squeeze out more profit. But once upon a time, the United States was a nation of tinkerers. Amateurs and professionals alike applied their ingenuity and talent to the problems of their day, coming up with innovative solutions

that at once channeled the optimistic spirit of America and kept that spirit alive. Guided by the curiosity of an inquiring mind, a desire to know how things work, and a belief that anything can be improved, they laid the foundations for the American century. When Alexander Graham Bell beat Thomas Edison to the invention of the telephone, Edison fiddled around with the transmitter and receiver until he produced an equally revolutionary machine – the phonograph. When Thomas MacDonald observed the hardship that a lack of good roads imposed on his fellow Iowans, he began a road-building project that eventually morphed into the interstate highway system. Some of the people profiled in this book attended the finest engineering schools in the world; some, like Microsoft’s former chief technology officer Nathan Myhrvold, had no formal training in their chosen fields. Some see themselves as solo visionaries; others emphasize the importance of working in teams. What binds them together is an ability to imagine new systems and subvert old ones, to see fresh potential in existing technologies, and to apply technical know-how to the problems of their day. In The Tinkerers, Alec Foege presents a version of American history told through feats of engineering, large and small. He argues that reports of tinkering’s death have been greatly exaggerated; since World War II, it has been the guiding force behind projects from corporate-sponsored innovations (the personal computer, Ethernet) to smaller scale inventions with great potential (a machine that can make low-cost eyeglass lenses for people in impoverished countries, a device that uses lasers to shoot malarial mosquitoes out of the sky). Think tanks and companies have recognized the benefits of tinkering and have done their best to harness and institutionalize it. But as systems become more complex, budding inventors may become intimidated. Foege argues that this would be an enormous loss to a nation that achieved its strength largely thanks to the accomplishments of its innovators. He shows us how tinkering remains, in new and unexpected forms, at the heart of American society and culture.

Trailersteading: Voluntary Simplicity In A Mobile Home 2013 | ASIN: B00AR0T8DI | 175 pages | MOBI | 4,8 MB All the advantages of a tiny house at a fraction of the cost! Imagine what you could do with your time if you didn't have to spend $16,000 a year on rent or a mortgage. Old single-wide mobile homes can often be found for free (and installed for a couple of thousand dollars) in rural areas, so trailersteading is akin to dumpster-diving. A trailer allows you to live without debt, to keep your ecological footprint to a minimum with energy bills at or below the national average, and even to blend right in with traditional-house dwellers after a few years. Trailersteading profiles nine mobile-home dwellers who have used trailers as a stepping stone toward achieving their dreams. Some have spent the cash they saved by renovating their trailer on extra insulation, pitched roofs, classy interiors, and even basements, while the found money has allowed others to go off the grid. Many also took advantage of a low-cost housing option to pursue their passions, becoming full-time homemakers or homesteaders. In addition to the case studies, the book presents easy methods of minimizing the negative sides of trailer life and accentuating the positive. For example, did you know a single-wide is easy to retrofit for passive solar heating? That a simple plant-covered trellis can break up the blockiness of the trailer's external appearance? Learn which parts of installing and upgrading your trailer are easy for a DIYer and which parts should be left to the experts, along with how to cheaply heat and cool a mobile home.

Dancing Under the Red Star: The Extraordinary Story of Margaret Werner, the Only American Woman to Survive Stalin's Gulag 2006 | 384 Pages | ISBN: 1400070783 | EPUB | 4 MB Margaret Werner (1921-1997), an American citizen living in the Soviet Union, was 17 years old when the secret police came for her father, whom she never saw again. Left destitute, she and her mother fought extreme cold and near

starvation, taking whatever jobs they could find. Seven years later, in 1943, the police came for Margaret. Accused of espionage, she was sentenced to 10 years' hard labor. Tobien, her son, describes the appalling privations and backbreaking work in her Siberian prison camp, but also the prisoners' strong friendships and the dance troupe the women created with their guards' approval. A recurring theme is Margaret's growth in faith, culminating in her conversion to evangelical Christianity in 1991. Tobien tells his mother's story simply and chronologically, as if to a young audience. His use of a first-person point-of-view seems gratuitous, since he rarely explores Margaret's inner life. Despite the ever-present backdrop of Stalinist Russia, WWII and postwar communism in Russia and East Germany, this is less an analysis of cold war politics than a tribute to a woman who survived unimaginable horrors with her optimistic spirit intact.

Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army & Other Diabolical Insects 2011 | 288 Pages | ISBN: 1565129601 | EPUB | 7 MB In this darkly comical look at the sinister side of our relationship with the natural world, Stewart has tracked down over one hundred of our worst entomological foes—creatures that infest, infect, and generally wreak havoc on human affairs. From the world’s most painful hornet, to the flies that transmit deadly diseases, to millipedes that stop traffic, to the “bookworms” that devour libraries, to the Japanese beetles munching on your roses, Wicked Bugs delves into the extraordinary powers of six- and eight-legged creatures. With wit, style, and exacting research, Stewart has uncovered the most terrifying and titillating stories of bugs gone wild. It’s an A to Z of insect enemies, interspersed with sections that explore bugs with kinky sex lives (“She’s Just Not That Into You”), creatures lurking in the cupboard (“Fear No Weevil”), insects eating your tomatoes (“Gardener’s Dirty Dozen”), and phobias that feed our (sometimes) irrational responses to bugs (“Have No Fear”). Intricate and strangely beautiful etchings and drawings by Briony Morrow-Cribbs capture diabolical bugs of all shapes and sizes in this mixture of history, science, murder, and intrigue that begins—but doesn’t end—in your own backyard.

Can I Freeze It?: How to Use the Most Versatile Appliance in Your Kitchen ISBN: 0060797029 | 2009 | EPUB/MOBI | 224 pages | 3 MB/3 MB What kitchen appliance is a busy home cook?s greatest friend? Believe it or not, it?s the freezer. Freezers seriously simplify meal preparation--you can plan ahead, save time, and shop economically, yet still serve fresh, flavorful suppers. Freezers are great for those dark winter months when you want to have dinner on the table fifteen minutes after you get home from work--think lasagna, stews, and soups--and they are also useful for entertaining friends when time is short. In Can I Freeze it? veteran food writer and stylist Susie Theodorou explains the tips, tricks, and rules of freezing food, from containers and wrappers (foil or Tupperware?) to the best methods for retaining moisture and flavor to what ingredients and dishes can and can?t be frozen. She provides a wealth of recipes, along with color photographs, for whole and partial dishes. Some are completely preassembled (for example, chicken in a marinade), frozen, and cooked later. Others combine frozen ingredients with fresh ones--pair a pastry from the freezer with berries from a farm stand, or defrost a sauce and use it to top fish straight from the market. The recipes include everything from meat and fish to pizza and veggies, plus desserts. Many dishes can be served two ways. For example, prepare classic Bolognese sauce and serve some of it for dinner over pasta. Freeze the rest and use it later to make meat and potato pie. In addition, there is a chapter on cooking for a crowd in which Susie shares her best recipes for entertaining large groups of family and friends. Serve lamb ragu ravioli with rosemary brown butter, Mexican chickpea stew with green salsa, or hearty lasagna--your guests will never know you prepared most of the meal in advance, making dinner parties a breeze! And be sure to save room for decadent desserts, including homes favorites such as Chocolate Chunk Cookies as well as showstoppers like Layered Coconut Cake. With Can I Freeze It? flavorful, healthful, hot meals are ready in minutes, without turning to takeout. It?s the ultimate guide to saving time and money in the kitchen.

The Impossible Rescue: The True Story of an Amazing Arctic Adventure ISBN: 0763650803 | 2012 | MOBI | 176 pages | 5 MB The dead of an Arctic winter. Whaling ships full of men, stranded in ice. Follow three rescuers in a race against time — and all odds — in this heartpounding true adventure. In 1897, whaling in the Arctic waters off Alaska’s coast was as dangerous as it was lucrative. And in that particular year, winter blasted early, bringing storms and ice packs that caught eight American whale ships and three hundred sailors off guard. Their ships locked in ice, with no means of escape, the whalers had limited provisions on board, and little hope of surviving until warmer temperatures arrived many months later. Here is the incredible story of three men sent by President McKinley to rescue them. The mission? A perilous trek over 1,500 miles of nearly impassable Alaskan terrain, in the bone-chilling months of winter, to secure two herds of reindeer (for food) and find a way to guide them to the whalers before they starve. With the help of photographs and journal entries by one of the rescuers, Martin W. Sandler takes us on every step of their riveting journey, facing raging blizzards, killing cold, injured sled dogs, and setbacks to test the strongest of wills.

Lost to Time: Unforgettable Stories That History Forgot ISBN: 1402729588 | 2010 | EPUB | 304 pages | 7 MB Stories that history forgot…but readers will remember “The only thing new in the world,” said Harry S. Truman, “is the history you don't know.” In this fresh and fascinating collection of historical vignettes, Martin W. Sandler (author of Resolute and Atlantic Ocean) restores to memory important events, people, and developments that have been lost to time.

Though barely known today, these are major historical stories, from Ziryab, an eighth-century black slave whose influence on music, cuisine, fashion, and manners still reverberates, to Cahokia, a 12th century city north of the Rio Grande, which at its zenith contained a population estimated to have been as high as 40,000 (more than any contemporary European city), to the worst peacetime maritime disaster ever, the explosion and sinking of the Sultana on the Mississippi in 1865. These tales are far from trivia; they illuminate little-known American and foreign achievements, ingenuity, heroics, blunders, and tragedies that changed the course of history and resonate today.

Thinner This Year: A Younger Next Year Book ISBN: 0761168001 | 2012 | EPUB | 368 pages | 4 MB Flying in the face of our quick-fix culture, the New York Times bestselling Younger Next Year and its sequel, Younger Next Year for Women, crossed the 1,000,000-copy milestone by essentially telling readers to work out six days a week. Forever. This same honest, no shortcuts approach is woven into the DNA of Thinner This Year. Chris Crowley, the memorable patient and coauthor of Younger Next Year, partners with Jen Sacheck, a nutritionist and exercise physiologist from Tufts University, and in lively, alternating chapters they spell out a weight-loss plan that will have readers lose up to 25 pounds in the first six months—and keep it off for life. The message is straightforward and based on the most up-to-date nutritional science: Avoid “dead,” i.e., nutrient-poor, foods, particularly the SOFAS (solid fats, added sugars) choices that comprise more than a third of our diet. Design your plate to be 50% vegetables and fruits, 25% whole grains, and 25% lean proteins. Skip the supplements. Never drink your calories. And exercise. Exercise, the authors emphasize, is the great flywheel of weight loss. And whereas Younger Next Year told you why to exercise six days a week—Thinner This Year tells you how to eat and how to exercise, from the best aerobic workouts to a lifetime supply of 25 whole-body strength exercises—the “Sacred 25”—that will build muscle, protect joints, and add mobility. What if Latin America Ruled the World?: How the South Will Take the North Through the 21st Century ISBN: 1608192725 | 2010 | EPUB | 480 pages | 990 KB For too many of us, Latin America exists "below the fold," an echo barely heard beyond the roar of U.S. economics, politics, and culture; the source of little more than dance steps, mesmerizing soccer, spicy food, and questionable politics. But Latin America has been a vital part of the global community since the seventeenth century, when the Spanish silver peso became the world's first global currency instrument. Today it is home to six hundred million people and some of the fastest-growing economies on the planet. Latin America may not outshine or outspend the United States on the world stage anytime soon, but its voices will be heard. Its consumers, resources, and emigrants are already affecting us; they will be even bigger factors in our future. What if Latin America Ruled the World? deftly braids together the histories of North and South America from the exploits of Hernan Cortes to the political showmanship of Hugo Chavezand Evo Morales. Scholar Oscar GuardiolaRivera is an ideal guide for a searching portrait of the Latin America that we rarely hear about.

Going to Tehran: Why the United States Must Come to Terms with the Islamic Republic of Iran ISBN: 0805094199 | 2013 | EPUB | 496 pages | 763 KB An eye-opening argument for a new approach to Iran, from two of America's most informed and influential Middle East experts Less than a decade after Washington endorsed a fraudulent case for invading Iraq, similarly misinformed and politically motivated claims are pushing America toward war with Iran. Today the stakes are even higher: such a war could break the back of America's strained superpower status. Challenging the daily clamor of U.S. saber rattling, Flynt and Hillary Mann Leverett argue that America should renounce thirty years of failed strategy and engage with Iran—just as Nixon revolutionized U.S. foreign policy by going to Beijing and realigning relations with China. Former analysts in both the Bush and Clinton administrations, the Leveretts offer a uniquely informed account of Iran as it actually is today, not as many have caricatured it or wished it to be. They show that Iran's political order is not on the verge of collapse, that most Iranians still support the Islamic Republic, and that Iran's regional influence makes it critical to progress in the Middle East. Drawing on years of research and access to high-level officials, Going to Tehran explains how Iran sees the world and why its approach to foreign policy is hardly the irrational behavior of a rogue nation. A bold call for new thinking, the Leveretts' indispensable work makes it clear that America must "go to Tehran" if it is to avert strategic catastrophe.

Escaping the Endless Adolescence English | ISBN: 0345507894 | edition 2009 | EPUB | 272 pages | 2 MB Do you sometimes wonder how your teen is ever going to survive on his or her own as an adult? Does your high school junior seem oblivious to the challenges that lie ahead? Does your academically successful nineteen-year-old still expect you to “just take care of” even the most basic life tasks? Welcome to the stunted world of the Endless Adolescence. Recent studies show that today’s teenagers are more anxious and stressed and less independent and motivated to grow up than ever before. Twenty-five is rapidly becoming the new fifteen for a generation suffering from a debilitating “failure to launch.” Now two preeminent clinical psychologists tell us why and chart a groundbreaking escape route for teens and parents. Drawing on their extensive research and practice, Joseph Allen and Claudia Worrell Allen show that most teen problems are not hardwired into teens’ brains and hormones but grow instead out of a “Nurture Paradox” in which our efforts to support our teens by shielding them from the growth-spurring rigors and rewards of the adult world have backfired badly. With compelling examples and practical and profound suggestions, the authors outline a novel approach for producing dramatic leaps forward in teen maturity, including • Turn Consumers into Contributors Help teens experience adult maturity–its bumps and its joys–through the right kind of employment or volunteer activity. • Feed Them with Feedback Let teens see and hear how the larger world perceives them. Shielding them from criticism–constructive or otherwise–will only leave them unequipped to deal with it when they get to the “real world.” • Provide Adult Connections Even though they’ll deny it, teens desperately need to interact with adults (including parents) on a more mature level–and such interaction will help them blossom! • Stretch the Teen Envelope Do fewer things for teens that they can do for themselves, and give them tasks just beyond their current level of competence and comfort. Today’s teens are starved for the lost fundamentals they need to really grow: adult connections and the adult rewards of autonomy, competence, and mastery. Restoring these will help them unlearn their adolescent helplessness and grow into adults who can make you–and themselves–proud.

The Cruel City: Is Adelaide the Murder Capital of Australia? English | ISBN: 174237509X | edition 2011 | EPUB | 288 pages | 1.4 MB Why is it that Adelaide, a beautiful city of churches and lush gardens, a place renowned for its support of the arts and culture, has become better known as the epicenter of some of Australia's weirdest and most brutal crimes? One of its denizens seeks the answers in this fascinating investigation. Some crimes are so mysterious or ghastly that they take on a legendary status, and Adelaide seems to have had more than its fair share of them. The whole nation remembers the disappearance of the Beaumont children, the ghastly Snowtown murders where the dismembered bodies were found in barrels in a disused bank vault, and the so called Family murders perpetrated by Bevan Spencer van Einem, with its trail of conspiracy theories, rumor, and innuendo, and other crimes just as notorious. Award-winning novelist and journalist Stephen Orr rounds up the infamous crimes of his native city and looks beyond the myth to the tragic sadness, badness and madness of violent crime and its consequences. Why Adelaide? Read Cruel City and find out. This book was shortlisted for the 2011 Commonwealth Writers' Prize and longlisted for the 2011 Miles Franklin.

Restoring Your Eyesight: A Taoist Approach 2006 | ISBN: 1594771502 | English | 240 Pages | EPUB | 0.30 MB A holistic guide to improving one’s vision both physically and spiritually • Explains how blurred vision is a reflection of other imbalances in the body, mind, and spirit • Offers natural methods for improvement of poor eyesight and stress-related difficulties, including dyslexia and ADHD • Combines the core values of the Bates method of natural vision improvement and Taoism Fewer than three percent of children in North America are born with visual defects, yet as they become adults nearly two thirds will become reliant on prescription lenses to see clearly. Virtually nonexistent in pre-industrialized cultures, this epidemic of blurred vision can be traced to mental, physical, and spiritual imbalances in modern society. The traditional “quick fixes” of eyeglasses and contact lenses only serve to cover the true cause of blurred vision while increasing eye-strain, and often progressively worsen eyesight as the eyes become trained to work within the confines of the corrective lenses. The advent of refractive surgery carries even more serious risks. In Restoring Your Eyesight, Doug Marsh offers a natural alternative that shows readers how to improve their eyesight by taking conscious control of their vision health. He combines proven methods pioneered a century ago by eye doctor William Bates with the ancient Chinese wisdom of Taoism. Marsh describes how vision goes deeper than the eyes and optic nerves, extending well into the layers of the mind, emotions, and spirit. Eyesight difficulties are often connected to behavioral and stress-related syndromes, such as dyslexia, ADHD, stuttering, TMJ, and anxiety disorders. He draws upon the core values of the Bates method and Taoism--rhythm, softness, return, balance, and wholeness--to provide guidelines for a holistic healing of outer and inner vision.

Surviving Off Off-Grid: Decolonizing the Industrial Mind English | ISBN: 0615447902 | 2011 | 352 pages | MOBI | 0,5 MB Western Society is in confusion, the industrial world is teetering on collapse, and it looks like things could get worse. Agrarian Blogger, historian, and "plain" preacher Michael Bunker has been living off of the grid for many years, and he has some advice for those living in the industrial/consumerist economy ...living an off off-grid life is achievable. It has been done for thousands of years, and it can be done today... It is quite possible that many people who have relied on a failing system for their means of survival will very soon find that they have made a mistake of historic proportions. Historic, because every major "classical" culture went down the same road our society is on today. This book is about the lessons we should have learned, and what you can do to survive what history tells us must come next. ***Warning*** In the increasingly fascistic and politically correct environment, many people are easily offended by any opinions with which they do not already agree. The author has studied and learned from many different people and books from many different religious backgrounds and was able to gather from them what good he could without feeling the need to attack those with differing opinions and worldviews. Unhappily, in today's society, there are those who believe that books or materials that they do not agree with should have a badge or marking stating that God is mentioned in the book. Surviving Off Off-Grid was written by a Christian man and his faith informs his worldview and ideas. He mentions God in the book. If you are offended by ideas that you don't already hold, or by anyone who dares mention that there is a God in the public square, then this book is not for you.
