'Til The World Ends Generally speaking, I am not a big fan of novellas. Most of them leave me aching for more and feel unfinished to me. Kagawa's story did fill in some background for me since I have already read The Immortal Rules and the main characters were left in a situation that was dangerous but had a future. Aguirre's story was the one that left me wanting the most.
The Ancient Curse Like always, Manfredi has a way in expression with words in his books that makes the story even better and making sure the reader can fully understand what is happening.
The Complete Groupie Trilogy When Andy Foster met the sexy front man of an up-and-coming rock band, the most she could imagine was a steamy stolen night of passion. But her attraction to Giovanni Carnevale hit her like a bolt of lightning. Soon she was traipsing all over the country, an unintentional groupie, finding herself thrust into his path even when she knew it was a very bad idea. Over four years their romance would face indiscretions, crazed stalkers and the interloping paparazzi, keeping these star-crossed lovers circling around a happily ever after they could never quite catch.
The Daylight War The "hick jargon" got cranked up to 10 in the early part of the book, which was a bit jarring, but it wasn't enough to take away from the overall excellence of the book. Brett did an excellent job in this book not only advancing the plot, but diving into the backstories of some of the more interesting characters from the earlier books, and making sympathetic characters you'd never suspect you'd have been able to sympathize with.
The Game Changer
This book is an example of why I read paranormal. Though, I like the real-life feel (side story, ie. love, life, friends) of paranormal books, they still don't feel real. Does that make sense? This book felt so real to me and I could relate to a lot in the book.

The Robe of Skulls: The First Tale from the Five Kingdoms This book was an absolute riot. While it is a super-fast read, you will find yourself enthralled with the quirkiness of the characters and loving the story. The illustrations are very comical, too! While this is definitely a middle grade novel, it is definitely suited for older and younger readers alike. I really enjoyed the quick-moving plot that keeps taking twists and turns. I loved how the author connected everything in a way that wasn't predictable and added to the hilarity of the book.
The Heart of Glass: The Third Tale from the Five Kingdoms Another fun addition to the series, though I won't say it was my favourite. What I found both a plus and minus at the same time was the fact that so many old characters return in this story, in addition we are also introduced to a handful of new characters. Of course it was fun to see the return of so many familiar faces, but this does cut into getting to know the new characters well enough. I much preferred the way Bag of Bones was written, focusing almost entirely on the new character, Loobly, with some of the old characters returning to join the story. Funny enough, Loobly was not in Heart of Glass, though her brother was and she was mentioned a couple of times. So other than there being too many characters for slim size of this book, I did enjoy the story. The trolls were hilarious in a mock-scary way. Gubble was just as lovable as ever. The fairy tale friendship of Gracie and Marcus inched a step closer to romance and when all is said and done this is a heart-warming story for all concerned
The Queen Is Dead Kate Locke continues to dazzle readers with her spunky, fierce heroine, Xandra Varden. The Immortal Empire series began with God Save the Queen where Locke introduced readers to an alternate world where England is still under the rule of Queen Victoria, and she's not human. In fact she's one of the plagued, supernaturals with the blood of werewolves, vampires, or goblins. Xandra learned shocking truths that changed her view of her family and of the Aristocracy, the people she believed, as a half-blood, she was born to protect. Now that Xandra knows that she is actually a fully plagued goblin, she has to choose whether she'll officially accept their crown or walk away from it all.
The Reece Malcolm List This was an excellent, page-turning YA novel, the kind where I almost didn't want it to end because I wanted to see what would happen next. As someone who's a little sick of reading about death in YA, I liked that even though Devan's dad has died recently at the start of the book, that's a plot point to propel the action, not something that leaves Devan devastated. Instead, it's about her new life, post-St. Louis, in Los Angeles, trying to fit in at school, make friends, something pretty new to her, and get to know her prickly mother, the writer Reece Malcolm.
Touch & Go
This book solidified in my mind just what a terrific mystery writer Lisa Gardner is. Touch & Go is all about the mystery. It's the breathless chase, jam packed action and multi layered whodunit that catches the reader. It's the best of late night, under the covers reading into the wee hours of the morning kind of book. I strongly recommend it, it is a fantastic read. In fact, it's even better than the first book of hers that I read, Catch Me.

Mind Over Murder (A Raven's Nest Bookstore Mystery) Clara Quinn has recently returned from New York to her hometown of Finn's Harbor, Maine. She is reluctantly helping her close friend and cousin Stephanie Quinn Dowd with her bookstore. When you walk through the door, it's obvious "The Raven's Nest" isn't an ordinary bookstore. There is a stuffed raven perched on a light fixture, a life-sized figure of a fortune teller with her crystal ball, and colored crystals hanging from the ceiling. While the store does carry occult books, it also sells cookbooks, craft books, and classic literature. However, many of the town's residents, especially Ana Jordan, the vocal owner of a neighboring shop, focus only on the occult and want the store to be closed down.
Murder Season Robert Ellis's new addition to his Lena Gamble series is an amazing book, filled with twists and turns that you will not see coming. Ellis has created one of the best characters in the genre. Lena is confident and persistent in what she does. However, her scars are real and make her more determined to see that justice is upheld no matter what the cost.

Perfect Scoundrels When tragedy strikes the moonlighting billionaire heir's other life, Kat senses there's more at play than the death of a great woman and the standard feeding frenzy of family over Inheritance. The loss has hit Hale hard, and Kat can't decide what's worse, feeling him slip away or knowing he's the perfect mark.
Rakshasa Part #1 The Indian mythology behind the story is unique and intriguing. I'm no expert in mythologies, let alone the Indian ones, but this one seemed to be very interesting. I wonder whether it really exists or it was the author's imagination. In any case it was well presented. And the conflict between the clans makes me look forward to the next book.
Rush (The Breathless Trilogy) Let's talk about Gabe. Gabe has a past, but it is no where near as dark as some of the other male leads that are out there. His past is actually quite realistic and makes you understand why he is the way he is and does the things he does. In addition, his past is not some big secret you are waiting to be revealed, you know it pretty much off the bat. But, let me be clear, Gabe is a domineering, controlling and possessive guy that is far from perfect. The beauty of Gabe is that he knows why he is the way he is and owns it. His downfall is his conscience and guilt. And boy did his conscience and guilt lead Mia down a very dangerous path.
Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles) What I love about Scarlet is how well it continues the story and strengths of Cinder, including its thorough world building, its clever and cohesive SciFi update on well known fairy tale characters and their stories, its plot which is both fast paced and full of complications, and probably most important to me, its characters who are learning as they go and having to work together even when they don't completely trust each other. They are all more human than superhero, with strengths and flaws, talents and insecurities. The female characters are strong, something I appreciate, and many of the characters have interesting back stories which become clear as the plot unfolds. An added plus is that the author has kept the tension high while still managing to include humor, especially using Iko, Cinder's android friend, and "Captain" Thorne, her prison break partner.
Soulbound: A Lone Star Witch Novel Part of its appeal is in its characterizations. Declan isn't entirely what I expect from the dark, brooding, dangerous love interest he too is stumbling his way through figuring out what he's doing. Xandra does a grand job of trying to creatively cope with an impossible situation without losing her mind. And Xandra's mother steals a few scenes of her own I can't even begin to explain how simultaneously scary, funny, and frustrating she is. She makes it easy to understand much of where Xandra's coming from. I also adore the new, fresh, and unusual take on two characters who are 'soulbound'.

Absolution (The Penton Vampire Legacy) Susannah Sandlin delivers another remarkable, compelling installment in this paranormal romance that ends with a bang! 'Redemption' was thrilling as we learned about traumatic events and turmoil in the vampire world. However, 'Absolution' is a stand-alone, which I found as fascinating as 'Redemption.' What I found incredible is the fact that the author's unique writing provided the reader with enough information to understand what was happening at the present time as we continue to learn about the immortals and a dangerous mission.
Bloodland What do a former Irish PM, a US Senator on the fast track to the White House, a couple of high-power industrialists, a shadowy private military contractor, a coke-addled starlet, and an out-of-work journalist have in common? If you want a book that's easy to follow, the obvious answer would be, not a bloody thing. But if you do decide to tie them together, and present the story in little snippets, and jump from character to character, place to place, sometimes in flashback and sometimes in the present, at the very least you get bit of a headache for the reader.

Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School) The book follows the exploits of 14 year old Sophronia Temminnick, a troublemaking youngest daughter of a middle class Victorian family. Not knowing what to do with a daughter interested in technology and books, her mother is only too happy to send her off to an exclusive finishing school. Except this finishing school teaches more than just deportment. It also teaches the arts of espionage and assassination.
Going Under (A Bound By Magick Novel) So the threat of the Magister had me gnawing at my fingernails at the end of Chaos Burning the second instalment in Lauren Dane's excellent Bound by Magick series, and I'm happy to report the threat in Going Under was even more sinister as the Clan witches or "Others" find themselves outed by the very vocal and very vicious pro-human faction Purity. The resulting backlash sees ordinary Others being forced out of their jobs and homes.
Hot Button (Button Box Mystery) Button collector Josie Giancola is busy getting ready for the International Society of Antique Button Collectors annual meeting, for which she is the chairperson. She is meeting Thad Wyant, who is the Guest of Honor, at O'Hare Airport. He is a bit of a recluse and is the owner of a historic Geronimo button. Out of the blue Josie ex-husband, Kaz, shows up to provide a limo to go to the hotel in. Kaz only shows up when he needs something and this is bad time as Josie is dealing with a high maintenance guest speaker.

I did enjoy this book. I would like to see more character development and just some.....more. I can tell that this author is very talented- don't be afraid to write more detail and beef up these stories- you have a great idea, please give us more!
Invasion: Alaska This is probably one of the best novels I have read all year. Vaughn Heppner has done an exceptional job with this book it has a realistic plot coupled with believable characters, plus it captures the horrors of war as well as the political problems faced with those fighting one. To top it off, the author shows himself to be well read in history and the Art of War, and intersperses that knowledge throughout the book in such a way as to make it a learning experience.

Why the West Rules for Now: The Patterns of History, and What They Reveal About the Future English | 2011-10-25 | ISBN: 0312611692 | 768 pages | EPUB | 2.92 mb In the middle of the eighteenth century, British entrepreneurs unleashed the astounding energies of steam and coal and the world changed forever. Factories, railways and gunboats then propelled the West's rise to power, and computers and nuclear weapons in the twentieth century secured its global supremacy. Today, however, many worry that the emergence of China and India spell the end of the West as a superpower. How long will the power of the West last? In order to find out we need to know: why has the West been so dominant for the past two hundred years? With flair and authority, historian and achaeologist Ian Morris draws uniquely on 15,000 years of history to offer fresh insights on what the future will bring. Deeply researched and brilliantly argued, Why The West Rules - For Now is a gripping and truly original history of the world.
The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking English | 2012-11-13 | ISBN: 0865479410, 192192148X | 256 pages | EPUB + MOBI | 773.17 kb + 1.06 mb The Antidote is a series of journeys among people who share a single, surprising way of thinking about life. What they have in common is a hunch about human psychology: that it’s our constant effort to eliminate the negative that causes us to feel so anxious, insecure, and unhappy. And that there is an alternative “negative path” to happiness and success that involves embracing the things we spend our lives trying to avoid. It is a subversive, galvanizing message, which turns out to have a long and distinguished philosophical lineage ranging from ancient Roman Stoic philosophers to Buddhists. Oliver Burkeman talks to life coaches paid to make their clients’ lives a living hell, and to maverick security experts such as Bruce Schneier, who contends that the changes we’ve made to airport and aircraft security since the 9/11 attacks have actually made us less safe. And then there are the “backwards” business gurus, who suggest not having any goals at all and not planning for a company’s future.
Burkeman’s new book is a witty, fascinating, and counterintuitive read that turns decades of self-help advice on its head and forces us to rethink completely our attitudes toward failure, uncertainty, and death.

When people arrive at the Element, they feel most themselves and most inspired and achieve at their highest levels. With a wry sense of humor, Ken Robinson looks at the conditions that enable us to find ourselves in the Element and those that stifle that possibility. Drawing on the stories of a wide range of people, including Paul McCartney, Matt Groening, Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, and Bart Conner, he shows that age and occupation are no barrier and that this is the essential strategy for transforming education, business, and communities in the twenty-first century. A breakthrough book about talent, passion, and achievement from one of the world's leading thinkers on creativity and self-fulfillment.

Death Clutch: My Story of Determination, Domination, and Survival 2011 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0062023128 | EPUB | 2 MB He is the biggest pay-per-view attraction in the world. He is "the Baddest Dude on the Planet." He is Brock Lesnar. For countless fans of professional wrestling and mixed martial arts, Brock Lesnar has long been known for his freakish athleticism, mind-blowing speed, and meteoric rise to the top. Yet despite the fame and fortune that have come with his enormous success, Brock has shunned the media, choosing instead to remain intensely private about his life and his accomplishments. Now, for the first time, he tells his remarkable story in his own words, describing the journey from his South Dakota farmboy roots to becoming the most popular pay-per-view attraction in the world. From the small-town amateur wrestling where he honed his skills to taking on The Rock at SummerSlam, Brock discusses how his natural athletic talent combined with the dark side of the wrestling business to make him the youngest-ever WWE World Champion. Epic as it was, Brock's overnight rise to fame came with a price, as he saw firsthand the toll that life on the road and in the ring could take on a pro wrestler's body and mind. Weary of the punishing lifestyle and backstabbing politics, he chose to do the unthinkable: walk away from professional wrestling at the peak of his career and break all ties with the organization that made him a star on the global stage. It was a move that stunned WWE executives and fans alike, and one that Brock himself has never fully explained—until now. Not one to stay quiet for long, Brock was soon back in the spotlight: this time in the UFC—home of the most dangerous mixed martial arts fighters in the world. Here he offers a behind-the-scenes look at his shocking decision to leave the wrestling entertainment business for a legitimate combat sport. From training to be a real fighter, to immediately being thrown into the Octagon against the UFC's best heavyweights, to the psychology behind his legendary trash-talking, Brock opens up about what it takes not only to succeed in the world's fastest-growing sport but to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. He also speaks candidly about the illness that nearly killed him, how it changed him as a fighter and a man, and how it shaped his will to survive. In the end, Brock holds nothing back. A revealing, raw, and ultimately redemptive tale of Brock's determination and domination, DeathClutch is the untold true story of becoming one of life's true champions.

Deranged: The Shocking True Story of America's Most Fiendish Killer! ISBN: 0671025457 | 1998 | EPUB | 256 pages | 518 KB LURED FROM THE SAFETY OF HOME -- INTO THE JAWS OF HELL
"America's principal chronicler of its greatest psychopathic killers" (The Boston Book Review), Harold Schechter shatters the myth that violent crime is a modern phenomenon -- with this seamless true account of unvarnished horror from the early twentieth century. Journey inside the demented mind of Albert Fish -- pedophile, sadist, and cannibal killer -- and discover that bloodlust knows no time or place.... On a warm spring day in 1928, a kindly, white-haired man appeared at the Budd family home in New York City, and soon persuaded Mr. and Mrs. Budd to let him take their adorable little girl, Grace, on an outing. The Budds never guessed that they had entrusted their child to a monster. Lucasville: The Untold Story of a Prison Uprising ISBN: 1604862246 | 2011 | EPUB | 256 pages | 5 MB In telling the story of one of the longest prison uprisings in U.S. history, in which hundreds of inmates seized a major area of an Ohio correctional facility, this chronicle examines the causes of the disturbance, what happened during its 11-day duration, and the fairness of the trials in the aftermath of the rioting. Recounted from the prisoners’ side and viewed through a lawyer’s and an activist's lens, this expose sheds light on the horrific and inhumane prison conditions, the rebellion and killing of 10 people, the drivers of the negotiated surrender, and the trial that was filled with misrepresentations and evasions on the part of those running the prison. The eloquent new foreword from the renowned political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal underlines the theme of the interracial character of the uprising and the basic desire of the prisoners to be recognized as men. A detailed view on a major prison uprising, this new edition will appeal to legal scholars, history buffs, prisoner and human rights activists, and family members of incarcerated individuals alike.

Washed Away: How the Great Flood of 1913, America's Most Widespread Natural Disaster, Terrorized a Nation and Changed It Forever ISBN: 1605984043 | 2013 | EPUB/MOBI | 336 pages | 2 MB/2 MB The incredible story of a flood of near-Biblical proportions-its destruction, its heroes and victims, and how it shaped America's natural-disaster policies for the next century. The storm began March 23, 1913, with a series of tornadoes that killed 150 people and injured 400. Then the freezing rains started and the flooding began. It continued for days.
Some people drowned in their attics, others on the roads when they tried to flee. It was the nation's most widespread flood ever-more than 700 people died, hundreds of thousands of homes and buildings were destroyed, and millions were left homeless. The destruction extended far beyond the Ohio valley to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Vermont. Fourteen states in all, and every major and minor river east of the Mississippi. In the aftermath, flaws in America's natural disaster response system were exposed, echoing today's outrage over Katrina. People demanded change. Laws were passed, and dams were built. Teams of experts vowed to develop flood control techniques for the region and stop flooding for good. So far those efforts have succeeded. It is estimated that in the Miami Valley alone, nearly 2,000 floods have been prevented, and the same methods have been used as a model for flood control nationwide and around the world.

Blood Sisters: The Hidden Lives of the Women Behind the Wars of the Roses ISBN: 0007309295 | 2012 | EPUB | 432 pages | 2 MB The true story of the White Queen and more, this is a thrilling history of the extraordinary noblewomen who lived through the Wars of the Roses. The events of the Wars of the Roses are usually described in terms of the men involved: Richard Duke of York, Henry VI, Edward IV and Henry VII. But these years were also packed with women’s drama and – in the tales of conflicted maternity and monstrous births – alive with female energy. In this completely original book, Sarah Gristwood sheds light on a neglected dimension of English history: the impact of Tudor women on the Wars of the Roses. She examines, among others, Cecily Neville, who was deprived of being queen when her husband died at the Battle of Wakefield; Elizabeth Woodville, the commoner who married Edward IV in secret; Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII, whose love and ambition for her son knew no bounds. Until now, the lives of these women have remained little known to the general public. Sarah Gristwood tells their stories in detail for the first time. Captivating and original, this is historical writing of the most important kind.
Wild Pitches ISBN: 0806536408, ASIN: B009T9SCIK | 2013 | EPUB | 197 pages | 2 MB "Dirk Hayhurst writes about baseball in a unique way. Observant, insightful, human, and hilarious." --Bob Costas
As a major and not-so-major league pitcher, Dirk Hayhurst has learned to master more than striking out batters. While waiting for his name to be called in the bullpen, he honed his gifts as a storyteller, one the New York Times calls the "best writer in a baseball uniform." In this often hilarious collection of adventures on and off the diamond, Dirk details the intricacies of pulling off an epic team prank, even if it's at his own expense;the art of creating the perfect professional baseball nickname;his comically ineffective attempts at writing romance novels;and the bizarre tale in which a bear gets punched in the face (yes, really). No matter how wild his story, Dirk proves once again he knows that it's all in the delivery. "I find his writing both entertaining and thought provoking...unlike his fastball." --Ben Zobrist, Tampa Bay Rays All-Star "Dirk Hayhurst has done it again...Turns out he's a starter and a closer." --Tim Kurkjian, ESPN "Hayhurst delivers an entertaining story for more than just sports fans." --Jordan Bastian, MLB.com "Hayhurst explains life in the minors and the major leagues like you've never read it before." --J. J. Cooper, Baseball America "Insight and humor from the pitcher's mound." --Businessweek

The Story of the Scrolls ISBN: 0141046155 | 2010 | EPUB | 272 pages | 3 MB From the world's leading "Dead Sea Scrolls" scholar, Geza Vermes' "The Story of the Scrolls: The Miraculous Discovery and True Significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls" is an ideal introduction to understanding these ancient documents. The discovery of the "Dead Sea Scrolls" in Qumran, between 1947 and 1956, was one of the greatest archaeological finds of all time. Written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, and hidden in caves by an ancient Jewish sect, these mysterious manuscripts revolutionized our understanding of the Bible, of Judaism and the early Christian world. Geza Vermes' English translations brought these extraordinary documents to thousands, and his life has been
inextricably interwoven with the scrolls for over sixty years. In "The Story of the Scrolls", Vermes relates the controversial story of their discovery and publication around the world, revealing cover-ups, blunders and academic infighting, but also the passion and dedication of many of those involved. He shares what he has learned about the scrolls and, evaluating passages from them, gives his views on their true significance and what they can teach us, as well as those areas where scholarly consensus has not yet been reached. "The world's leading Gospel scholar". ("The Times"). "Vermes has the rare gift of wearing his immense scholarship lightly". (David Goldberg, "Independent"). Geza Vermes is director of the Forum for Qumran Research at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies. His books, published by Penguin, include "The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English" and "The Changing Faces of Jesus" as well as the 'Jesus' trilogy: "Nativity", "Passion" and "Resurrection".
God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science ISBN: 1848310706 | 2009 | EPUB | 320 pages | 995 KB A powerful and thrilling narrative history revealing the roots of modern science in the medieval world. The adjective 'medieval' has become a synonym for brutality and uncivilised behaviour. Yet without the work of medieval scholars there could have been no Galileo, no Newton and no Scientific Revolution. In God's Philosophers, James Hannam debunks many of the myths about the Middle Ages, showing that medieval people did not think the earth was flat, nor did Columbus 'prove' that it is a sphere; the Inquisition burnt nobody for their science nor was Copernicus afraid of persecution; no Pope tried to ban human dissection or the number zero. God's Philosophers is a celebration of the forgotten scientific achievements of the Middle Ages - advances which were often made thanks to, rather than in spite of, the influence of Christianity and Islam. Decisive progress was also made in technology: spectacles and the mechanical clock, for instance, were both invented in thirteenth-century Europe. Charting an epic journey through six centuries of history, God's Philosophers brings back to light the discoveries of neglected geniuses like John Buridan, Nicole Oresme and Thomas Bradwardine, as well as putting into context the contributions of more familiar figures like Roger Bacon, William of Ockham and Saint Thomas Aquinas

The 198-page method book was written with intermediate guitarists in mind (all examples are tabbed), but works on any instrument and any musical style. Ideas are copiously illustrated with brief, easy-to-play examples from Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, and hundreds of references to modern songs that you can easily find in a couple of clicks on the Internet. In the final lesson, you put it all together to write your own pop song or instrumental. Short on ideas? Not a problem. Compose Yourself offers MC2 ("MC-squared") -- a secret weapon for effortlessly tapping into your subconscious creative powers. If you're frustrated with music theory, if you want to know how to shape your musical ideas into whole compositions and advance your creativity by quantum leap, then Compose Yourself is for you.

Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs 2010 | ISBN: 006173232X | English | 400 Pages | EPUB | 0.45 MB "What kind of person do I want my child to be?" There are hundreds of books that give parents advice on everything from weaning to toilet training, from discipline to nutrition. But in spite of this overwhelming amount of information, there is very little research-based advice for parents on how to raise their children to be well rounded and achieve their full potential, helping them learn to take on life's challenges, communicate well with others, and remain committed to learning. These are the "essential life skills" that Ellen Galinsky has spent her career pursuing, through her own studies and through decades of talking with more than a hundred of the most outstanding researchers in child development and neuroscience. The good news is that there are simple everyday things that all parents can do to build these skills in their children for today and for the future. They don't cost money, and it's never too late to begin. In Mind in the Making, Ellen Galinsky has grouped this research into seven critical areas that children need most: (1) focus and self control; (2) perspective taking; (3) communicating; (4) making connections; (5) critical thinking; (6) taking on challenges; and (7) self-directed, engaged learning. For each of these skills, Galinsky shows parents what the studies have proven, and she provides numerous concrete things that parents can do—starting today—to strengthen these skills in their children. These aren't the kinds of skills that children just pick up; these skills have to be fostered. They are the skills that give children the ability to focus on their goals so that they can learn more easily and communicate what they've learned. These are the skills that prepare children for the pressures of modern life, skills that they will draw on now and for years to come. Mind in the Making is a truly groundbreaking book, one that teaches parents how to give children the most important tools they will need. Already acclaimed by such thought leaders as T. Berry Brazelton, M.D., David A. Hamburg, M.D., Adele Faber, and Judy Woodruff, Mind in the Making is destined to become a classic in the literature of parenting.

50 Jobs in 50 States: One Man's Journey of Discovery Across America English | ISBN: 1605098256 | 2011 | PDF | 288 pages | 26 MB Like lots of college grads, Daniel Seddiqui was having a hard time finding a job. But despite more than forty rejections, he knew opportunities had to exist. So he set out on an extraordinary quest: fifty jobs in fifty states in fifty weeks. And not just any jobs—he chose professions that reflected the culture and economy of each state. Working as everything from a cheesemaker in Wisconsin, a border patrol agent in Arizona, and a meatpacker in Kansas to a lobsterman in Maine, a surfing instructor in Hawaii, and a football coach in Alabama, Daniel chronicles how he adapted to the wildly differing people, cultures, and environments. From one week to the next he had no idea exactly what his duties would be, where he’d be sleeping, what he’d be eating, or how he’d be received. He became a roving news item, appearing on CNN, Fox News, World News Tonight, MSNBC, and the Today show—which was good preparation for his stint as a television weatherman. Tackling challenge after challenge—overcoming anxiety about working four miles underground in a West Virginia coal mine, learning to walk on six-foot stilts (in a full Egyptian king costume) at a Florida amusement park, racing the clock as a pit-crew member at an Indiana racetrack—Daniel completed his journey a changed man. In this book he shares stories about the people he met, reveals the lessons he learned, and explains the five principles that kept him going.

F**k It: The Ultimate Spiritual Way English | ISBN: 1401927599 | 2010 | PDF | 224 pages | 4.6 MB To say F**k It feels good. To stop struggling and finally do what you wish . . . to ignore what everyone is telling you and just go your own way . . . feels really great. In this inspiring and humorous book, John C. Parkin suggests that saying F**k It is the perfect Western expression of
the Eastern spiritual concept of letting go, giving up, and finding real freedom by realizing that things don’t matter so much (if at all). It’s a spiritual way that doesn’t require chanting, meditating, or wearing sandals. And it’s the very power of this modern-day profanity that makes it perfect for shaking us Westerners out of the stress and anxiety that dominate our daily lives. So, find out how to say F**k It to all your problems and concerns. Say F**k It to all the “shoulds” in your life, and finally do what you want—no matter what other people think!
How to Live on 24 Hours a Day 2009 | ISBN: 1604595078, 0979415489 | 52 pages | PDF | 4,4 MB The classic that teaches how to truly LIVE rather than just existing from day to day. As relevant (if not more) today as it was when originally published. "Bennett address the problem of never having enough time. In this book, he urges hourly workers to use "spare" time to improve their lives, making the best of their time outside of work. He understands that most people are spending as much time as possible working to make more money, thus disliking their lives. "Time is money" seriously understates this matter, more time can generate more money, but money cannot buy you more time!"

Let It Bleed: The Rolling Stones, Altamont, and the End of the Sixties ISBN: 044653904X | 2009 | EPUB/MOBI | 256 pages | 24 MB/28 MB LET IT BLEED takes you where no Rolling Stones book has before. Author and photographer Ethan Russell was one of only sixteen people--including the Rolling Stones--who made up the 1969 tour. He was with them in their hotel rooms, at rehearsals, and on stage. He tells the story of this monumental and historic tour firsthand, including recollections from band members, crew, security, and other sixties icons--like Abbie Hoffman and Little Richard--they met along the way. And he also includes amazing photos of the performers who toured with the Stones that year: the legendary Tina Turner and B. B. King. Through vivid quotes taken from his interviews with the band and crew, and through more than 220 revealing photographs, Russell takes you behind the scenes for an uncensored look inside the Rolling Stones' world at the end of the sixties. It was an idealistic time, with an overarching belief that music could bring us all together. But the events that led to the terrible violence and stabbing death at Altamont would change rock and roll forever.
