One Dream
When you look at a boy with a big dream. You see a fool a dreamer a failure, but everything starts with a dream, failure leads to success and being a fool makes you fearless. Tony Yang is born in China and had the luck to come to America during the economic hard times of China. Even tho Tony is now growing up in a healthier environment, he never took it for granted. As he helps his family save money, by looking for things extra cheap/used. They crowns through societies laughters because he knows that those people has never been in his shoes. Nore have they ever felt poor or discrimination. Tony will always tell me “Justin why are you satisfied with being original, plan, and just ok? You have have want more than that, you have to be more, accomplishing things that people say you can’t. Prove everyone wrong at the same time make yourself feel better and make them feel
like crap. Don’t let people change you, because they’re nothing to you after high school.” As he follow his life throughout these words he follows by. He has accomplish more than i can believe. He stop asking his parents for money because he sells shoes for a living, not a job. Just a investment he made into one pair of Jordans, and he make
over prices, but he makes them think that they can’t buy this pair or shoes anywhere else and makes the prophet. I still remember when Tony and I used to play basketball in the back of our apartment. There was this huge house with a very nice basketball court. Tony asked the owner if we could play basketball their. The owner said yes, and also mentioned that his son is off for college and will be more than happy to let us used the court. Tony and I would go to the courts at 7 after dinner and would play tell the sun is down. As kids we didn’t really know what tired was so sometime we would play when is dark. Tony was way more committed to the sport than that into two and three I was. He would shoot at and now he has over ten. the court for a good hour Tony has learn that, the after school. Me? I would weak fails and the strong go straight home and eat, is not strong enough so for a good 30mins than I when he sells his shoes he would do my homework always bargains the prices. or watch a movie. By the Somehow the people still time I’m done with all buy it eventho the prices is my stuff he has already
been shooting for about 2 hours. Around 5 o’clock he would call me to play ball. We would play 21 or 1 v 1 to 6. I won most of the time because I’m bigger than him and that helped me to succeed on all my layups. Tony had shoot his shots from the three point most of the time because I had good defense on him. Over time he even try to develope some tricks to get him by me, but playing with him everyday, made me be able to read his moves like a book. Tony would bounce between the legs shift left and right trying to take me off with his speed. Than he would make an attempt on charging tours the rim but, I would open my arms wide and stop him before he has the chance. Tony would do drill and sometimes even make a garbage can his enemie. Sometimes I would watch him work on his drills because I needed time for the food in my stomach to be digested. While that’s happening I see Tony putting some ankle weights
Rise To The Challenge
on. Tony said to me “These things will make me faster, jump higher and also stronger. As a Asian American we’re not really know for sports. If anything is studies and engineering. He told me that he doesn’t want to be part of the minority. He wants to be more, he said “I’m only going to live this life once, why not make it count”? Nothing was really pushing him to do all this but his ambition. Basketball was never really my sport but for my best friend I was willing to play with him tell the sun goes down. Later on that week Tony and I joined a basketball team. Tony’s
dad supported him on his dream of becoming a basketball player. For Tony’s first game he didn’t score any points, neight did I, but I wasn’t as crushed as he was because basketball is not my sport. I was only doing the sport because he wanted me to. If anything I wanted to prove to him that I’m also supporting him on his dreams of becoming a basketball player. Not only did this happened on his first game but this also happened on his next ten games. He absolutely scored one point throughout the whole season. Tony’s dad would always be in the bleachers cheer-
ing for him, but even his dad’s voice went lower and lower as time passed by. It was almost like he was ashamed. Tony’s ambitions went down as games went by. No one on the team supported him but me. I still remember how I would always pass the ball to him during a game, because I didn’t care if I get the point or not. I guess he always didn’t care if I get the point or not. Because he would always call for the ball as soon as I get it. He would never really think about me. All he cared about was scoring and prove his couch that he should put him as a starter,
but one man can’t take a whole army. One man can only get against so many. Every Time when Tony takes the ball he would lose it. He would turn it over all the time because he never passes the ball. He needed to be more or a team player. Even tho I didn’t get to score much, but I was a team player. I sticked to my position and never left. Whenever I get a rebound I would pass it straight to the point guard. Sometimes I wish i can feel the same love for a sport that Tony feels for basketball. Now he has changed into a team player. When I watch
Ambition

Time
“Is A Limit Set By Nature Not Self, Finish What’s Need To Be Done” him play in the twenty four hour fitness gym. He would always pass the the open man now. His not taking chances anymore. He is doing what’s safe, and what will help him and his team win the game. To him the sport is not only a game but is also a war that he had to win. He tell me that whenever he’s practicing his at war. His ambition, is something that I hope to have one day. Sometimes after bas-
than badminton and ping ketball Tony and I would talk at the pool. We would pong. I wish that he would break the stereotype. talk about the future. I can’t see mine but when he tells me about his. It really sounds like it would happen. His voice gets louder and louder. Is like whenever he talks about his dream he gets pumped. In conclusion I really hope that he will make it out there like Jeremy Lin. Is really hard out there for an Asian American to make it in sports other
