#FREOSTREETARTS
WELCOME ‹^
Welcome to the 20th annual Fremantle International Street Arts Festival, proudly sponsored by the State Government through Tourism Western Australia. Regarded as one of Australia’s biggest and best street arts festivals, the event last year attracted more than 150,000 people to the port city to enjoy a variety of extraordinary performances, from comedy and circus acts, to acrobatics and cabaret. This year’s program features world-class local and international acts from Australia, Finland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Sweden, USA, Italy, the Philippines, and the UK. The City of Fremantle is proud to once again present the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival. Over the past twenty years this extraordinary festival has become a key event on WA’s cultural calendar as it showcases the world’s best street artists in our beautiful port city. FISAF broadens and deepens Fremantle’s international reputation as a creative city and adds to WA’s appeal as a tourist destination. In 2017 this very accessible Festival attracted over 150,000 people to Fremantle and is one of the city’s most successful economic drivers. FISAF also reminds us that art offers something to everyone. From catching up with friends under the Norfolk Pines on the Esplanade to watching giant illuminated birds walking along the Cappuccino Strip, I hope you enjoy all the delights Fremantle has to offer.
DR BRAD PETTITT
FREMANTLE MAYOR
Highlights include roving act BirdMen from the Netherlands, in which enormous prehistoriclooking birds invade the streets; Forest Ants in the City from Germany; and one of the world’s best magicians, Charlie Caper. Events provide many tourism benefits, adding vibrancy, attracting visitors who make a significant contribution to our economy, and raising awareness through media exposure. Tourism is a vital industry, generating $10.1 billion for our State in the year ending September 2017. I encourage everyone visiting for the event to explore Fremantle during their stay and promote their experiences to family and friends through social media. I hope everyone enjoys the festival and their time in Western Australia. HON PAUL PAPALIA CSC MLA MINISTER FOR TOURISM

Your guide w THE Fremantle International Street Arts Festival program: Buskers
Music
It takes a special kind of artist to entertain crowds on the streets and many of our performers have travelled across the globe to perform for you in Fremantle. If you’ve enjoyed their performance, put some money in the hat, this is how they make their living.
There’s nothing better than the sounds of live music filling the open air during the festival. Check out this year’s musical acts, be they contemporary, folk or international.
Street Theatre
Audio description
Theatre doesn’t always need to be in a black box with curtains. Enjoy international productions performed in the open air.
Vision impaired or blind people can enjoy these shows via the Access All Arts audio description program. See page 17 for full details.
Roving These performers aren’t static, you’ll see them pop up in places all around Fremantle during the festival. We’ve given you a starting point; see if you can catch them along the way.

See page 26 for full program
The norfolk pines and the blue waters of the fishing boat harbour form the backdrop as some of the best street performers from around the world entertain you. Good Friday features shows at the Cicerello’s / Fishing Boat Harbour Pitch, our first fully licenced pitch The Seraphim Bar, and on Esplanade Park.

BAR
A pop up by Little Creatures
Seraphim [ser-uh-fim] n. members of the highest order of angels and protectors of the Garden of Eden, often represented as a child's head with wings above, below, and on each side (just like the Creature’s cherub, but a little different). The Seraphim Bar. Combining performance with fresh, flavourful beer and smokin’ food into a heavenly Creatures experience, but not quite as you know it… because it’s good to be a little different.
