WELCOME:the
City of Fremantle is once again proud to present the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival, which throws a spotlight on our city by bringing an eclectic mix of high-calibre artists to our streets and parks from Good Friday to Easter Monday. This year we deliver a program that captures Fremantle at its best— accessible, diverse and fun. There are more than 100 shows over four days of free entertainment. The Festival is a much-loved event on our cultural calendar, with 99 per cent of visitors to last year’s festival saying they would come again. Our program features world-class local and international acts from Switzerland, France, Japan, Australia, Germany, China, Spain, Portugal, South Korea and USA. From the astounding acrobatics of China’s Cho Kairin to the wild antics of The Space Cowboy, there are shows that will make you laugh, shows that are touching, and shows to shock and surprise. Thank you to our 2019 major sponsors, sponsors and supporters. It’s through your vital contributions that we’re able to deliver a festival of this scale. Finally, thank you to our audience for your support. I wish you all the very best for the weekend and enjoy your time in our beautiful port city. BRAD PETTITT

your guide: the festival
Buskers
Music
It takes a special kind of artist to entertain crowds on the streets and many of our performers have travelled across the globe to perform for you in Fremantle. If you’ve enjoyed their performance, put some money in the hat, this is how they make their living.
There’s nothing better than the sounds of live music filling the open air during the Festival. Check out this year’s musical acts, be they contemporary, folk or international.
Street Theatre
Roving
Theatre doesn’t always need to be in a black box with curtains. Enjoy international productions performed in the open air.
These performers aren’t static, you’ll see them pop up in places all around Fremantle during the Festival. We’ve given you a starting point; see if you can catch them along the way.
Audio description Vision impaired or blind people can enjoy selected shows via the Access All Arts audio description program. See page 18 for full details.
Getting around FISAF is an iconic open-air, family-friendly and free festival throughout Fremantle. Please see our map on page 24.
access Please call 9432 9999, TTY 9432 9777 or email festivals@fremantle.wa.gov.au if you have any questions or to discuss your requirements. Alternate formats are available upon request. This brochure is also available online at streetartsfestival.com.au
BE GREEN FISAF aims to be an environmentally friendly event. • There are water refill stations around Fremantle. Please BYO bottle to refill; we strive to be a plastic free festival. • Please use the right bin for your waste. • Support venues that use environmentally friendly serving and packaging options and say no to plastic straws. • We recommend using public transport to get to the Festival, the main performance pitches are a short walk from the Fremantle train station.

Good friday fri 19 apr

See page 26 for full program
The Norfolk pines and blue waters of the Fishing Boat Harbour form the backdrop as the best street performers from around the world entertain you. Good Friday features shows at the Cicerello’s / Fishing Boat Harbour Pitch, our fully licenced pitch Seraphim, The Little Creatures Buskers Bar, and on Esplanade Park. For the first time, we’ll have a Good Friday pitch at Fremantle Markets.
GSeraphim
BAR
the pop up by Little Creatures returns! Seraphim [ser-uh-fim] n. members of the highest order of angels and protectors of the Garden of Eden, often represented as a child's head with wings above, below, and on each side (like our Creature’s cherub, but just a little different). The Seraphim Bar returns, bringing the people a heavenly blend of live performance, fresh ales and Creatures creativity. Enjoy the city's festive vibes in the shadow of the brewery, as artists and street performers send our streets, bars and restaurants through the roof (or more appropriately, the clouds), for something a little different, and uniquely Fremantle.
