When August Comes What Can We Expect???... A heat wave, a last minute trip to the beach, or a rush to campus for a new year of study and exams. In our church, it means a chance to celebrate our Sunday School, picnics, and games, coming together in worship and beginning a new year of youth activities. We really want you to ask yourself one question: Are you ready??? Yes, are you ready? The church is really a grouping of people who seek to follow Jesus in their daily lives. In the New Testament it does not suggest that church is an empty building or a social assembly. The church is Christ’s living presence in the world in which we live. We are the body of Christ! Being a church family means being prepared to follow, being willing to listen and learn, being open to new experiences and being aware of the challenge before us to make disciples of all Nations as we go our separate ways.

New Worship Shorter Moravian Hymnal and Liturgies available on loan for use by our Sunday school classes, Circles, Small groups and Youth to be returned to the Church Office… Many times when groups at church get together, there is a need for a hymnal or liturgy from our current Moravian Book of Worship. Several years ago, a group of clergy, musicians and lay people gathered to create a Shorter Moravian Hymnal. Included in this hymnal is a series of brief liturgies, hymns and responsive prayers. “Singing from the Heart” was created to address the need for a smaller, lightweight spiral bound Hymnal for groups to use in our churches. They are located in the office and can be checked out for use at meetings, retreats, small gatherings and other outings and returned to the Church Office. This saves us time and money and best of all, all the hymns have chords written above the words so that a guitar player can lead a traditional hymn. This Investment in our music will allow us to reduce copying hymns and give us a new tool for worship at home or on the go!!!

July in Kenya Greetings from Ray of Hope. When I think of July I think of summer. In Kenya it is a little cooler and it is Fall. I still have a tough time with that. Things in Kenya are going well. The team of ladies from Kernersville Moravian have just left. They worked so hard and we got so much done. They taught us how to make a raised garden. That will really help with all the weeds we have. They helped the children with all their studies. The teachers are on strike so they had extra time to help them. We had a very successful Bible camp last Friday. The children are doing well, but are ready to go back to school. We hope the strike will end next week. They know how important education is. We have another one of our children entering college. Dixon is going to Bible College in Nairobi. Our numbers are the same we have 16 living at Ray of Hope, 3 high school students going to a local high school and living at Ray of Hope. We have 6 high school and college students living away from home. We had a good rainy season and our water supply is good. We hope our vegetables will grow and we can have some good vegetables. God is continuing to bless us. Thanks for all your prayers and support. Michael, Ceci and Blessing
