FRIENDS ACADEMY PRESENTS...

A NIGHT OUT WITH FRIENDS 30TH ANNUAL DINNER & AUCTION

FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2022 GARDEN CITY HOTEL

Our Mission Guided by our Quaker principles, Friends Academy educates our students to discover and develop the best of who they are and who they can become.

Our Belief Statement We achieve educational excellence by committing to the highest standards of learning and living. Our diverse and welcoming community is strengthened by our Quaker values, which empower our students to inquire, reflect, and engage in their classrooms, in their neighborhoods, and in the world. Because when we inspire students to learn and live with purpose, they achieve greatness without sacrificing goodness.

May 6. 2022

Are we ready for a party? I can say emphatically, “Yes we are!” On behalf of all my Friends Academy colleagues, welcome to A Night Out With Friends. It is with great excitement that Tim and I celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Annual Dinner & Auction. We are ready to put on our dancing shoes and we hope you are too. Thank you to our Auction chairs Liz Kakar and Elizabeth Ong Witthuhn ‘01 who have worked tirelessly to ensure that a good time will be had by all. Liz Kakar was determined to plan a party in person this year after two virtual events in a row. A tribute to our chairs’ leadership, the parent volunteers on our Auction Committee have come together to plan a magical evening. A special recognition to our sponsors, Silent/Live Auction donors, event volunteers, attendees, and bidders. Despite the challenges of the last two years, Friends Academy has much to celebrate as we continue the forward momentum inspired by our 5-Year Strategic Plan, Realizing Our Promise. You will hear first-hand this evening the plans to bring even more innovative programs, people, and places to campus, including our new Innovation Center, as well as other capital projects that are in the works for the near future. It is an exciting time to be at Friends Academy as we move ahead with a plan that will ensure we continue our legacy for years to come – a Quaker institution that delivers the most exceptional academic program on Long Island. Thank you for another wonderful year and for all there is to celebrate tonight. I will see you on the dance floor! All my best,

Andrea Kelly

May 6. 2022 Dear Friends, We are thrilled to welcome you to the 30th Annual Friends Academy Dinner & Auction — our first live event in three years! It has been a joy to connect with the community while planning this year’s wonderful program and we are grateful beyond words for the generosity, support and enthusiasm we have witnessed. A Night out with Friends presents us with a unique opportunity — not only to enjoy each other’s company, but to appreciate the ever growing and evolving community. This year we offer a warm welcome to our new families and hope this event is the first of many where you will experience the camaraderie that is such an important part of the Friends Academy experience. Let tonight be an evening to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends and celebrate each other, our children and our remarkable school community. We would like to express our boundless appreciation to the Committee, including the inimitable Silent Auction Chairs Phaedra Kazanas and Kathy Gelfand, the Friends Academy faculty, staff, and students, and all of our valued sponsors and donors. We would like to send a special thank you to our generous Dinner Sponsors: Tony and Claire Florence, Elizabeth and Frank Ingrassia, Ashima and Mike Narula and Irene and Peter Pappas. At the heart of our auction efforts were Diane Biolsi and Marilyn DelRosso, who made the planning and execution of this event not only very smooth, but very fun. We would also like to thank everyone in the Advancement and Communications Departments who helped put this evening’s program together including: Kevin Barry, Christine Lunsford, Joan Bruen, A.J Pegno, Andrea Miller, and Margaret Pegno for their essential support. Finally, we would like to thank our Head of School, Andrea Kelly and Assistant Head of School, Jen Halliday for their leadership. We hope you have a wonderful evening with old friends and new ones. Please hit the dance floor and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Have a fantastic and memorable Night Out with Friends! With gratitude,

Elizabeth Ong Witthuhn ‘01 and Liz Kakar

THE FRIENDS ACADEMY 2022 FRIENDS TOGETHER FUNDRAISER

Our work is recognized throughout the Hamptons. A summer’s lease hath all too short a date. Why this is very midsummer madness. But will they come when you do call for them? Better three hours too soon than a minute too late. They say that miracles are past. So shines a good deed in a naughty world. To their right praise and true perfection! To be, or not to be: that is the question.
