The Beaufort County Bookmobile is scheduled to be on Fripp Island at the Community Centre on August 3rd & 17th and September 7th and 21st, from 2:00 until 3:00. Call ahead to reserve a book and have it brought out.
I have to admit, when I see the Bookmobile at the Community Centre, it takes me back to grade school and that feeling of waiting in line to walk up those stairs. The excitement of being surrounded by all those books and deciding which ones I would pick out this week. Some things are the same as they were back then, like the Summer Reading Game, checking out and returning library material, special requests, and applying and receiving new libary cards. But some things have changed, like the new apps that you can take advantage of with your library membership: Flipster - You can read popular magazines for free. Hoopla - Instantly read, listen and watch with your library card. Cloud Library - Download popular eBooks and audiobooks with your library card. I love new technology and being able to have access to so much material at my fingertips and at my leisure! But there’s still nothing quite like the sight, sounds, and that familiar feeling and anticipation when you get onto the Bookmobile!
