Hotel Minella

Sunday, July 10 - Tuesday, July 12 Three full days of guided trout fishing through Clonanav Fly-Fishing, owned and operated by Andrew Ryan. Frontiers has represented Andrew for a number of years. He has been guiding the River Suir and tributaries since his teens. Clonanav’s guides are talented professionals, excellent and enthusiastic teachers, passionate fishermen, and genuinely fun people to spend time with streamside. Clonanav also has a fully stocked fly shop. Guests have access to close to twenty miles of private fishing— almost all of which is within ten miles of your hotel. In addition to the River Suir, you will have the opportunity to fish the River Nire and the River Tar. For any non-fishermen in the group, Clonmel is ideally located based on its central location. There are local sights to see in town. Plus, there is great hiking in the region. In addition, the Rock of Cashel, Kilkenny City, and Waterford are in close proximity. The driver/guide with the group will be available to take the non-fishers on daily sightseeing trips while the anglers are on the water. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Lunches are served streamside. Dinner will be taken at the Hotel Minella. Wednesday, July 13 Following breakfast, check-out of the Minella Hotel. After the drive, it is a great place to stop and stretch your legs. We will also arrange for a nice lunch in town. Following lunch, you will continue to drive approximately 1 hour, 15 minute to the Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, where superior rooms have been confirmed for the following three nights. Welcome dinner this evening. Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is one of the finest four-star luxury castle hotels in Ireland. It is set on a private 450 acre estate of woodland, rivers, and walks in the heart of Connemara, Co. Galway. Thursday, July 14 - Friday, July 15 Two full days of guided fly fishing at Ballynahinch. The catchment drains an area of 68 square miles and is a diverse system of intercalated loughs and rivers, drained by the Ballynahinch River. This majestic river with fishing rights owned exclusively by the Ballynahinch Estate winds its way underneath the castle for 3 kilometers until it reaches the wild Atlantic Ocean at Bertraghboy Bay. First and foremost, Ballynahinch is an Atlantic salmon fishery. The larger spring salmon average approximately 10 pounds. As we move into the summer months, the fishing is at its best. There are still fresh salmon and grillse. By international standards, the grillse are quite large—averaging six to seven pounds and up to nine pounds. There is also good sea trout fishing—particularly from early June until the end of July. Trout fishing can also be arranged. This area of Ireland is widely considered the prettiest in the country! Non-fishers will enjoy the coastal reaches of Connemara, the National Park, the Wild Atlantic Way up into County Donegal, and a wide range of other activities. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Lunches are provided and dinner will be served at the hotel. Saturday, July 16 Following breakfast, check-out of Ballynahinch Castle. The group will be transferred due east across Ireland to Dublin. Driving time: 3 hour, 30 minutes. On arrival in Dublin, we will arrange a nice lunch. Following the meal, the group will be taken on a walking city sightseeing tour. During this time, your luggage will be dropped off at the hotel and waiting for your arrival. The group will check-in at the Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin, one of our favorite properties in the city. The Fitzwilliam Hotel is a special, charming, unfindableanywhere-else with traditional Irish hospitality, but in a stylish, contemporary, chic, comfy, curl-up-in-a-nest-like setting. It’s the smartest, friendliest, warmest-welcoming hotel in Dublin. Located right at the beginning of Grafton Street, the city’s main shopping avenue, on St. Stephen’s Green, the main square, this really is the finest location for a hotel in Dublin! Everything you could want – Dublin’s best shops, restaurants, theatres, bars, museums and galleries - are all just a short stroll away. We have confirmed one night of accommodations in Signature Rooms. The balance of the afternoon and evening will be at leisure. We will arrange a farewell dinner at the hotel. Sunday, July 17 Following an early breakfast, check out of the Fitzwilliam Hotel. The group will be transferred back to the Dublin Airport to check-in for international connections back to the United States. Welcome Home!
