Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, Estancia de los Rios is located inside a massive private ranch encompassing 360,000 acres. In square miles, it is larger than New York City. Inside the borders of this ranch you have miles of the upper Rio Cisnes River to explore and fish for its resident brown trout. From its tiny headwaters and feeder streams, to its lower stretches, you will find these trout living and feeding in this remote and pristine environment. In a parallel valley on the ranch you can fish the trout-filled Magdalena spring creek or you can opt to try one of the ranch’s many lakes for a shot at monster brown. The Estancia lies on the eastern side of the Andes and extends like a thumb toward Argentina. This allows for a drier climate than areas to the west and closer to the coast. Grassy river bottoms give way to the rolling hills that rise up to forested mountains. With few inhabitants living nearby you might even swear that you have been transported back in time to Montana or Colorado in the early or mid-twentieth century if it wasn’t for the passing gaucho and his dogs on their way to tend his sheep. If you want to take a day off from the river you can saddle up one of the many ranch horses and ride into the mountains to spot condors, red stag or possibly glimpse a puma. With so many places in the ranch to explore you are sure to have an incredible time away from the river. Marcelo Dufflocq has spent 20 summers at the ranch developing the fishing program and the lodge experience. He has hired a group of Chilean guides that know where the trout are on the ranch and are eager to show you how to catch them and his staff are eager to please and to make your lodge stay memorable. Sincerely,
What to Expect
• This six bedroom lodge is nestled in the foothills above the Rio Cisnes with views of the wide open river valley with the forested mountains in the distance. This is the big sky country of Patagonia. • Inside the ranch you have miles of the upper Rio Cisnes River as well as several spring creeks in which to wade. This is the perfect place for those who like to dry fly fish on smaller trout waters. If you would like a shot at a hefty brown trout then one of the many private lakes on the ranch might just hold your trout of a lifetime.
