Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, The Punta Allen / Ascension Bay region has always been a mecca for fishermen as the Yucatan Peninsula draws tourists and anglers from around the world. At the end of the road at Punta Allen is Grand Slam Lodge. As the name indicates, this is the place to be for permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook and other shallow water species.
What to Expect
• Ascension Bay is one of the most acclaimed permit fisheries in the world. Bonefish, tarpon, snook, cuda and jacks are also available.
With the opening of the newly built Grand Slam Lodge, anglers now have the best of both worlds. Grand Slam is a beautiful tropical resort with plush accommodations, a swimming pool, and a beach for the non-angler and access literally around the corner to the flats of Ascension Bay. Experience bonefish, mangrove lined lagoons and edges for tarpon and snook, and the nearby reef and endless miles of ocean frontage for a variety of other saltwater species.
• Grand Slam Fishing Lodge is one of the finest flats fishing destination in the Caribbean. Comfortable accommodations, fresh cuisine and experienced guide all contribute to a memorable trip.
Miguel Encalada, owner of Tarpon Bay and manager at Grand Slam, has helped us choose the May dates. We took into consideration the moon and tides, as saltwater is always a risk because of so many variables a successful fishing trip. We feel confident that with just a little luck from Mother Nature, we’ll have a very good week.
• Ascension Bay offers a variety of fishing options. While the guides prefer to fish from the boat, there are plenty of areas that can be waded.
This trip can be easily dove-tailed with Campeche Tarpon Bay Hosted Trip, where we are for a few days following Grand Slam. So, if eight days of fishing sounds better than four, consider continuing on with us to Campeche. Refer to the respective itineraries for more details and pricing, and then give Frontiers a call.
Sincerely,
