A Barry and Cathy Beck Hosted Departure July 21 - 28, 2023 Trout and Salmon Fishing at Intricate Bay Lodge on Lake Iliamna Alaska fishing Intricateat Bay Lodge,HostedAlaska Trip We Share Your Passion
Alaska
When it comes to fishing for big wild rainbows, Alaska holds the crown for the world’s marquee fisheries. The rivers in the lake Iliamna drainage in the Bristol Bay/Katmai region are considered the very best for rainbow trout, especially on dry flies. Not to fear, our conventional gear angling guests will have super trout fishing as well. We may fish famous rivers including the Moraine, Funnel, Battle, American Rivers, also Kvichak River, New Halen River and Talarik River. Of course, the Copper and Gibraltar are the most famous, especially when targeting rainbow trout.
• Flyout fishing experiences at a multitude of the best and most productive rainbow trout rivers in the region during your trip. Guests may do daylong float trips, walk and wade on small hidden streams, fish for trout and salmon on the fly or with conventional tackle. Guests may opt for a leisure activity day like visiting Brooks Falls for bear viewing About the Lodge
This newly built sophisticated lodge was designed to be highly functional without sacrificing the feel of an Alaskan lodge. The previous lodge sadly burnt to the ground in 2014 and was replaced with this stunning beauty. The lodge sits in a protected cove on the eastern shore of Alaska’s largest lake, Lake Iliamna. The Lodge is located 190 miles southwest of Anchorage and is accessible only by aircraft. The chartered flight between Anchorage/ Iliamna takes about an hour. We will be targeting rainbow trout and this area is known for its fantastic dry fly fishing along with skating mouse patterns for heavy shouldered rainbows. This week was specifically chosen after consultation with the lodge for its diverse potential and styles of fishing. Guests will have access to Sockeye salmon, Chum salmon, and possibly some early Silver salmon. Arctic Char and Grayling round out the native species.
The lodge sits in a sheltered bay on the eastern shore of Lake Iliamna, providing easy access to the best trout and salmon rivers in the Bristol Bay/Katmai area. The “home” rivers are the Copper and Gibraltar reachable by jet boat; These rivers are synonymous with big rainbows. Incredible dry fly action in the region is a real draw and their float planes will deliver you in comfort. This “A” list lodge is one of the finest lodges in Alaska and have proven to be a favorite amongst our guests. Great guides and gourmet meals complete this trip of a lifetime.
Dear IntricateTraveler,BayLodge is a Frontiers guest favorite and for good reason.

The small 12 guest maximum also allows for a much more fluid fishing schedule and it’s easier for the pilots and guides to adjust fishing locations based on angler preference, fishing conditions, and weather. We will relax in style at this state-of-the-art lodge that provides both local and fly out fishing trips. Rated as one of the top 3 lodges in Alaska in 2017, you’ll discover where personal service and years of Alaska experience are as important as your comfort. You will experience unrivaled attention as a guest, along with all the amenities you’d expect in a fine hotel like private en-suite bathrooms, wireless internet and satellite TV. Despite its remote location, the lodge has 24-hour electricity, courtesy of an eco-friendly inverter system that reduces generator use.
