Estancia TeckaDear Traveler,
It is rumored that in 1900 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid holed up in Argentina near Estancia Tecka. If you venture there today you will find that much of what their wandering eyes saw is still relatively undisturbed. In the outermost remote reaches of Patagonia one can experience just how far away from civilization they are by merely gazing at the night sky. Unfettered by manmade lights and magnified by the clear cool air of the Andes, the constellations seem an arm’s length away and the next person a million miles away. This is the blessing of Patagonia.
In today’s trout fishing world, it is unheard of to have just 18 guests at two lodges on a ranch with more than 80 miles of private water, 45 miles of the Rio Corcovado and 35 miles of Tecka spring creek. Anglers fish the Rio Corcovado, the lifeblood of the award-winning working sheep ranch, from skiffs on more than 15 sections of river, all on the ranch. The river is an angler’s paradise with ample hatches and the buzz of thousands of grasshoppers in the riverside grass. It’s not technical fishing – the trout are cooperative, hearty and looking for their next meal. Not sold yet? Wait until you sample the lovely Tecka Spring Creek. Carefully work your way along the banks catching chunky rainbows and browns just waiting for a beetle or grasshopper to land on the willow lined freestone-like glides and wandering meadow braids.
Our departure to Tecka will be a six night/5 day stay on the estancia at the Caridad Lodge, located near the Rio Corcovado and the productive private lakes that hold some real monster trout. Estancia Tecka offers exceptional trout fishing under an amazing big sky, long fishing days, leisurely lunches, and of course, superb Malbec.
And if one week in Argentina is not enough, our Tecka dates dovetail nicely with our departure to San Huberto and Pilolil and it’s easy to add on one or both lodges for a longer stay in Patagonia.
Sincerely,
• Fishing with floating lines and dry flies is the standard at Tecka. Anglers will encounter two major and unique rivers during their stay – and many tributaries and creeks - drifting the larger Corcovado River and walking-and- wade stalking the ranches namesake , the Tecka River.
• Tecka offers two distinctive accommodations, the Headquarters Lodge a few steps away from the Tecka River and the more remote Caridad Lodge which is central to the broad Corcovado River.
• Combining miles of diverse private troutfilled water encompassed privately in a 435,000 acre working Argentine Estancia in the majestically secluded Esquel region of Patagonia. Argentine wines and asados.
Estancia Tecka: is a rare find; it’s one of the few places in the world where an angler can fish all day and never see another soul. This 435,000-acre ranch has such a vast holding of private water it would take years to fish it all. From 2 lodges, fishermen access the Rio Corcovado, Rio Tecka, and a handful of spring creeks. All offer a perfect blend of walk-nwade and drifting opportunities. Tecka’s reputation for excellent attention to detail, food and fishing has earned the Estancia a loyal clientele.
