Perfect experience regards weather, fish, and food. And the guides and staff were OUTSTANDING. Everyone went out of their way to provide a perfect trip. I don’t know if this trip could be reproduced. L.L., Tauranga, New Zealand
The Dufflocq Brothers A Chilean Patagonia Pioneer Family Since 1959 As sons of a pioneering Chilean fly-fishing outfitter, CRISTIAN AND MARCELO DUFFLOCQ were raised in the business of guiding and running the complex logistics of remote fishing destinations; one might say that this business is not only their passion, but it is also in their blood. Complementing their proficiency as top fly-fishing guides, the Dufflocq brothers are accomplished naturalists and successful business partners focused on environmental interests and Chilean Patagonia. Their three Chilean lodges have become synonymous with superior accommodations, top-shelf cuisine, unique and extraordinary fishing, guest satisfaction and resource sustainability. The Dufflocq Brothers and Frontiers have a rich developmental history together which began in 1994 as the two organizations worked to establish the fishery and the accommodations at the Estancia de los Rios on the largest ranch in Chile. Building on this success, they shared many explorations of the Chilean Fjords; first chartering vessels, then culminating in the Dufflocq’s purchase of the grand Rio Azul M/Y that now hosts the ever-evolving Fjords Fishing Program. Growing together, key members of both the Dufflocq Brothers and Frontiers have fished rivers together north and south of the equator. This successful partnership has fostered a strong friendship and loyalty between the two organizations, as they complement each other seamlessly in the fly-fishing travel industry.
Cristian Dufflocq on the Fjords
To enable Cristian and Marcelo Dufflocq to focus on their true love of fishing and resource development, Frontiers has been invited to serve as their international marketing and sales partner, enthusiastically charged with the both the care of repeat guests and the introduction of new anglers to the waters of Chilean Patagonia. Both organizations are excited to use their combined expertise to provide superior service for past, present, and future travelers. Marcelo Dufflocq on the Cines River, Estanica de los Rios

Estancia de los Rios
Fly fishermen daydream about having their own private river teeming with eager, wild brown trout looking to ambush a meal that drifts by on the glassy surface. ESTANCIA DE LOS RIOS is the realization of that dream and the upper Rio Cisnes is that river. The 360,000-acre estancia is a magnificent ranch perched in the high country of central Chile. This majestic property protrudes into the Argentine Andes just as a peninsula invades the sea. Away from the moist coast, the climate here is comfortably drier and the weather is dependable. Sculpted, snow-capped peaks plummet steeply into vast tracts of rolling meadow, then melt into tree-lined banks, concluding in an uninterrupted sliver thread of glacial and spring fed water. At times, the sheer power and visual beauty of this isolated destination can be so awe-inspiring that anglers find their rods calm and tethered to slack line; they are mesmerized by an irresistible Ansel Adams panorama. Fly and cast are forgotten; just for a moment. While the fishing is certainly a focal point, Estancia de los Rios also offers many other outdoor activities, including guided horseback riding, hiking and trekking, mountain biking, scenic guided float and rafting trips, coastal Fjord tours and visits to local gauchos and artisan colonies. Days brim with activity and evenings at the ranch are meant for fellowship, while guests recount over fine Chilean wine and international culinary genius. Come to Estancia de los Rios for the outstanding fishing, stay for the warm comradery, and return time and time again for the breathtaking scenery and the total experience.

Chilean Fjords
Fjords, 10th and 11th Region of Chile This unique journey treats fly fishermen to a week-long adventure aboard a 53-foot cabin cruiser in one of the most inaccessible regions of Chilean Patagonia. Targeting prolific and often uncharted tidal rivers that perforate the coast and flow uninhibited into the calm inland sea of southern Chile, anglers will see the region as it was decades ago – unspoiled and uninterrupted. As if for affirmation, a variety of regional sea life including sea lions, penguins, coastal birds and rare Chilean black dolphins make regular appearances and often accompany the vessel as it repositions each evening. As dawn breaks Zodiac-type inflatables launch from the freshly anchored Rio Azul to stalk large and plentiful brown and rainbow trout. The fish here have rarely, if ever, seen an artificial fly from the remote stream banks which are free of boot prints. In these waters, species are both resident and sea-run, averaging 20 inches or better and exceeding 25 inches with weekly regularity. Two double staterooms offer private bathrooms and showers along with modern electronics. A well-seasoned crew and guides with an impeccable safety record make this adventure one that any angler will be eager to brag about. The fishing program runs Sunday through Saturday; an overnight stay in Puerto Chacabuco is necessary and included prior to embarkation.
Highlights
• Accommodations - Four anglers per week on a 53-foot Hatteras Motor Yacht • Highly mobile access to remote tidal rivers • Departure Port – Puerto Chacabuco via Balmaceda Airport, Chile • Species – Brown trout, rainbow trout and silver salmon • Season – December to April annually • Reservations - Saturday to Saturday, 7-night / 6-day fishing program

Estancia de los Rios fishes like the American West, but with much more remoteness and lack of pressure. There is tremendous fishing diversity. I liked walking and wading, but also like the lakes. The horseback ride overnight was fantastic. The overnight at the cabin was fantastic. The Asado Patagon BBQ on Friday was incredible. I would probably fly to Coyaique next time and avoid the hassle and expense of the small plane. The food was incredible and the staff was very eager to please. I will definitely return!
