“Tyriek Charles, who is a strong 400-meter person, we’re probably going to run him a

little bit more in some 800s this year,” stated Luy.

“All of the cross-country runners that haven’t used up their eligibility will be with us for

the season,” added Luy. “It’s nice to have that depth and also at the same time we have quality there too.”

Romano, Rickards, Wilson and Clark all make the switch from the cross country sea-

son to track and all four play a vital role in the success of the Bobcat distance team.

Junior Kevin McCarthy returns as one of the CACs top sprinters after competing in the

200, 4x100 and 4x400 at the league championships during the outdoor season. McCarthy posted season-bests in the 200 (23.15) and 400-meter dashes (52.53) and he looks to get back on the podium after earning Second Team All-CAC honors in 4x100 during the outdoor CACs in 2017.

“Kevin McCarthy is back and he’s got a lot of flexibility for us, everything from the 60

to the 400,” said Luy.

While the Bobcats have an impressive amount of talent returning to their track and

field teams, Luy is busy working with the new members of this group. “We have quite a few new people, so we’re in the process of trying to figure out who is going where in terms of events,” Luy stated. “It will be exciting to see how they will do.”

The Bobcats are coming off of an impressive 2017-18 campaign and are looking

to build off last year to make the 2018-19 season even better. Saturday’s first meet at Championships in each of the past five seasons counting both indoor and outdoor. Last

“Shamar Nelson is an excellent jumper for us and has emerged as a top sprinter as

well, which is a testament to how hard he’s worked at it,” said Luy.

Robinson, the 2017-18 CAC Medal of Inspiration award winner, finished the outdoor

season with eighth places in the 400 hurdles (59.51) and ninth in the 110 hurdles (17.23) at the CAC Championships. He missed most of the indoor season as he donated a kidney to his father that led to his CAC Medal of Inspiration award.

Forster has steadily improved over his previous three years with the Bobcats and that

hard work culminated in an ECAC Championship appearance last spring where he took fifth with 4,683 points in the decathlon. He capped the two-day event with wins in the 1,500-meter run (4:55.50) and the javelin (42.56 meters).
